Intelligent debate does not take place here. The Paleobrute situation is a great example of this. Instead of moderating a moderator led the pack of imbeciles.

Isn't it amazing how all you super intelligent guys..far above us mere mortals...are all about gun control ?

Sure am glad I am ignorant trailer park trash.

I didn't agree with PB, but he forced folks around here to think.

Its only by keeping folks like that around that we sharpen our own arguments...

X Ring Rack...by having these guys to debate with or argue, then it helps us know our enemy.

yes he was irritating at times because he was the only one that was right in his eye. But then again...some of us get that way at times too.

    Rack;
    Sure...understood.

One small problem. Many years ago,I had the data at my fingertips, the polite respect for my oponents, the patience to listen to their replies.
Over the last 40 years, I see them winning on every front..ever more restrictions, ever more controls..as their 'Superiour Intellect' appealed to the emotions of 'just one child saved'..'For your own safety'...on and on and on.

Get these types angry...and the evil/ugly springs out in full flower.

As I posted in another thread "I enjoy this forum, but my big disappointment is that controversial topics can not be debated like grownup, professional, educated members of the human race. Invariably one side or the other at some point steps off the slippery slope and starts belittling the other side or starts name calling! We just can't seem to make our points to the best of our ability and if no beliefs are changed simply agree to disagree and part honorably. That's why I stay out of those type exchanges and have become relegated to respond to the mundane, yet less controversial topics like "what's for supper"!"

I did not agree with the guy either. To suggest we all must think a certain way is the epitome of politically correctness.

He did stimulate intelligent conversation but the problem was that he and only he was correct and used some sort of circular logic and degeneration of other member's views and opinions if they differed from his. His downfall was his arrogance.

Are we allowed to call ourselves bad names?[:D]

Another's intelligence is usually a matter of perspective, highball. Nowhere can I see any sign in P-B's posts of an unusual ability to present facts, debate, or stay on point. What bothers folks about him and guys like him is their ability to stay on point; a tenacious poster who will not be sidetracked by straw man arguments, distortions or out-of-context regurgitation. PB's problems came when a moderator took sides, as Eric did, and as Pick wanted to. Once the hoi polloi smelled blood in the water, they become bold and invariably boldness will get someone ass-bitten.

P-B could have been one of the greats, the kind, who, even though you don't disagree with 100%, have a point. Alexander Hamilton and John Adams both had that irritating proclivity. I'm not saying PB is either of them by a long shot, but you get my point. Everyone deserves to be heard.

I think guys that intelligent bring good things to GB.

Some of his stuff was unmitigated garbage, but he was a good thinker, mostly.

    Glad he's gone.

Clouder...it wasn't his views that got him banned. It was his continued personal attacks, name calling, and continued violation of forum posting guidelines that got him banned. He was warned on NUMEROUS occasions, but failed to heed those warnings. There are consequences for our actions.

Personally, I believe he was only here to troll...he showed up right after Congress passed 2640 and did everything he could to build support for that bill (200+ posts in a couple weeks). He also let it out in an email that he was upset about the fact that many of us no longer support the NRA. He was here to cause trouble.

Unfortunately, he caught me...hook, line, and sinker...on more than one occasion. I got into heated debates with PB, but I did not stoop to his level with the name calling and personal attacks.

Here's a bit of advice. If you don't want to be locked out, follow the posting guidelines and heed repeated warnings about violations of those guidelines.

Why would he be locked out for something that everyone else does? ..

I see the consequences are only for some, not for all..

Beth...if you see offensive posts...or posts that are in violation of the posting guidelines, please feel free to bring it to our attention. It is impossible to read every post/thread on the board. If I see name calling, I delete the post...

One more point that I would like to make...PB took it as "his own personal calling" to go all out, on a full blown attack against the moderators here.

So once again we see a glimmer of real intelligence snuffed because it sits crossways to someone's personal agenda. Yeah, I'm talking about P-brute, banned for the same reason several have been, for strangling another poster by using their OWN words. I read EVERY word proffered and rebutted and saw he wasn't going to last long. Any time someone challenges the boards to think, actually formulate a cogent thought; they're kicked off because they're controversial. Give me a freakin' break, guys, the Constitution of the Unites States was controversial. We did the same thing to Mark C, and DWS has quit posting anything meaningful, well done.

I'm fully aware come `cracker' or `pencil-neck' (both sides of the spectrum there just for balance) will get it deleted, so have at it. If the shoe fits wear it, bearing in mind it'll inhibit your speech a little, which may not be a bad thing.

    Clouder..

Your knee-jerk reaction is clarion, eric. Why on earth would you even THINK about locking this thread; because it's ABOUT P-B? That's the only thing I can see. As I said, I read EVERY word of his posts and not ONCE did he start with the name-calling.

My inquiry? What inquiry? Show me. This is dangerous, Eric. We HAVE to rely on you guys to be as impartial as humans can be, but you have come to see this man as something WE need to be protected from. We don't. There are 20 people who post here whose entries I simply will not look at.

Remember the famous, and I paraphrase, 'I think all that can be said about this, has been' statement. Even if I had asked a question, and I DID NOT, who are you to tell me I have my answer?

    Dangerous, eric.

Let it be said that I did not ban him...nor others that preceeded him.

Nor did I wish it to be so. Nobody asked...[:D]

Personally, I find his views repugnant...both to me personally..and to the Republic.
I also believe that those views OUGHT to be on public display...for ALL to see and think about.
Those, folks, ARE the NRAs' view of the Second Amendment..like it or not.

This is untrue Walley...or you obviously missed quite a few of his threads and replies. Everything I stated is true.

Your second statement is untrue as well. I told you what the problem with PB was...and it has nothing to do with protecting you...and everything to do with moderating the forum...and enforcing the posting guidelines

He might disagree with me. And then I'd have to quit, leave in a huff and then creep back when no one is looking. (for the sixth or seventh time, no less, how much crow can one man eat?) If more posters are needed, I know a place that will make some up for me. [:D] We just won't 'activate' them, right?

We have been treated to two weeks of an articulate, eloquent defense of gun control.

This guy is worthy of Gun Control, Inc.or the NRA boardroom.

No doubt, those of us here supporting gun control have enjoyed the interlude..the ability to string 10,00 words together, take another mans' statement, turn it inside out and backwards and make it sound real takes real talent.

Get down to the nut-cuting, though.

Do you believe that the Founders , after spilling blood over gun confiscation, intended to ever again allow another strong central government the power to limit firearms to Citizens ?

Do some of you begin to grasp why I advocate withdrawal from the political process ? You cannot beat these people with words. They will bury you in rhetoric..telling you this while they mean that. You will wake up one fine day and discover that they control every aspect of your life.

    Oh..wait..they already do that.

I think we're on the same side about the constitution. I take the position that, sadly, the convoluted way the 2A is written gives the anti-gun side some sembliance of being correct when they challenge it as not giving total, unrestricted gun rights to citizens. Even though I believe it pretty much does. Especially when backed-up by the KS and MO constitution which says it even more clearly (except for no constitutional concealed carry in MO)

But if I go the the gun rights and constitutional law forum on GB.com and express any myself like this I get a lot of anger and hate. Even though I am also a gun lover, have done a lot to at least try to help with gun rights and even though all us gun lovers are basically on the same side of the table.

I still get insults and hate and anger thrown at me.

    Sorry..must disagree with you.

Any time you want to get plenty of 'groupthink' like PBS...take a cruise over to the NRAs' website. Or Gun Control,Inc. Or any media.
