Hospitality facilitator. Okay, we've all had a lot of fun with this, but it has been no help to you. Just say "bartender" on the applications, but in the description I'd pimp up any management skills such as hiring/firing, ordering, moneyhandling or closing responsibilities. "Assistant bar manager" sounds a lot better than bartender.

He wants to get into pharmacutical sales, for some reason I don't think "mixologist", "mix-master", "certified blend-master"

    etc.

I'm helping out a friend (who is also my local bartender). He has basically bartended his way through college for the last ten years, and now he is looking to change to a more professional type of career.

What do I refer to his job title as instead of bartender?

In all seriousness, title him by whatever his new career is! Best, Joe

hr people can see throu petty bs like trying to jazz up job titles. a petroleum distribution technician is the guy who pumps my gas when i dont do it myself. a refuse relocation agent is a garbageman. he wont be fooling anybody. if he was a bartender, he was a bartender., theres no shame in it. if he was an assistant manager, thats good but if he wasnt and they call for a reference he's up the creek.

souse chef isnt appropriate. souse chef is the person second in "command" of the kitchen, behind the head chef. it implies they have years of training and experience in culinary arts. if your buddy poured drinks, but had no involvement the kitchen, it would be unwise to use a title that means #2 in charge.

Various positions within the F&B industry [Food & Beverage].

    Manager, F&B Industry.

I've an acquaintance who went from commission sales to Pharma rep.
His base is $74K, plus an almost guaranteed bonus of $26K.

He pitches new products, always over breakfast or lunch, works out every day to deal with all the food he eats, and is always home by 6:00 pm. No weekends. No direct sales, as he splits bonus with the other reps, based on how much is bought in that region.

All in all, a great job for a college-educated, quick, personable individual.

He's barteneded for 10 years AND put himself throught college? Put "Bartender" on the resume'. Steadily employed, hardworking, and experienced with sales and customer service. Chit, selling drugs should be easy for him.
