Ya Know What? I Think I'll Just Start Poofing
Any thread that deals with religion.
I have asked you people, many times, to express matters of belief as matters of belief, but some of you persist in stating them as matters of fact. It's really simple. Just state, "In my opinion..." or, "I believe..." and then go on.
Neither side can quantify its beliefs anyway, and neither side is going to convince the other to change its mind.
I have also asked you to keep your discussions civil and to be nice to one another, as though you were visiting in someone else's home, which you are, and some of you will not, on both sides. As a believer and a Christian, I find it embarrassing when a fellow believer resorts to name-calling, insults, and profanity to get his point across.

This is a discussion forum and as such, unless illegal activity, or blatantly disgusting activity is discussed, topics should be given broad latitude.
I am continually amazed that so many people here just can't seem to pass over a topic that is clearly designated as "something" they dislike or disagree with, then they jump up and down wanting it removed, moved, or the subject banned.
Here is a simple rule that will keep all you do-gooders, complainers and various and sundry crybabies safe from the rest of us.......
Don't click on a topic that is clearly about something you don't want to see and IF you happen to open one by mistake, or that was mislabeled, back away from it and get on with your day.....simple huh?0 -

none of those issues ever started a war, and i mean real full combat killing war, religion has caused 99% of every war since recorded history, there is a time and place to discus religion, this is obviously not one of them, i have expressed my views openly, but i have never forced them on any of you, even those that i have debated with cannot say i did it in a disrespectful manner, yesterday there was several on both sides that where way out of line0 -

respect is the key, mutual respect, there is little here, i hope this is a two way street, when bushmaster goes to all post he can find with wrath in his heart to stir trouble and is not stopped or called down, even if a prayer thread for old gunner or bobski's prayer thread, he is allowed to run rampant,who is to blame? if people don't like a thread they can use they're intelligence and move on instead of attacking. in fairness these people are the ones that need poofed or banned. sad day,

Kodiakk, Jacob was wrong and that is why I posted what I did to the three of them in that particular thread.
Tomahawk is correct...its all about respect. Busch was not respectful on those threads but then one or two others got out of line.
I had been biting my tongue most of the day with buschs remarks and was about to just call him out on it until it spiraled downward very quickly between them. On the political forum we have one who is really starting to push the limits and is dragging one poster into it with him as well...I will post to him in just a minute over there.
Respect each other here and their beliefs/convictions. Thats pretty simple.0 -

lt496, you are correct, however I've always felt that religion is a touchy subject that has so many different views, beliefs, and interpretations that no one can fully agree with each other. It's kinda like discussing politics in a bar when everyone is drinking. Just not a good idea. I believe, but I prefer to keep it to myself. I do skip over religious post, however I will offer a prayer for those that request one.
Anyway lt496, don't worry as I don't take much as a personnel attack, and probably should have explained myself further. [:)]0 -

Has anyone noticed here that it's only the non-Believers here that keep making the statements "Nobody will ever change their mind anyway". I happen to know this is not true. I happen to know of several folks who've come to know the Lord, or had seeds sown that got them to thinking about God and eternity, here on GB.
I also happen to believe we cannot let a couple of instigators, like Bushmaster and tccox, dictate the forum policy by going on rampant attacks on Christianity and God. Both of these individuals, along with a couple others went overboard lately and are the root of the current problem. I have poofed quite a few of Bushmaster's posts, but there are enough left to clearly see that a couple individuals have done their best to stir up dissension on this matter.
Ever hear of that saying "It's the squeeky wheel that gets the grease."? This can be very dangerous...and is precisely why our country is in the state it's in. I'll finish with a reminder of my first sentence in the previous paragraph...0 -
