The process as you describe it sucks.
A vocal verbal "move a trailer up" acknowledged by a verbal moving up is a shitty way to move up with the potential of safety issues.
As you noted you had a lapse but what failure? If you "heaRD THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT how else are you supposed to normally confirm that?
I hate that you have to deal with this but from what you describe I don't understand what you did wrong other than you acknowledge a lapse?0 -

I've been off of work since April 8th. that's the day I had the 2nd knee replaced. It's also the day the hospital I was working at shut down. People ask me what 's going on that I haven't been hired yet. I tell them because I haven't applied yet. If I apply I'll get hired and I'm not ready for that. Hell, I get offers without applying. There is so much work out there it's hard to just be a bum.
What ever you do get your CPAP, your health depends on it. Get lots of wood laid in, plenty of taco fixins and cold beer, you'll be good til spring.0 -

Sorry to hear about your situation Ken. The safety culture you describe is certainly old school. We found working with those that had a safety incident sometimes make them a good advocate for safe behaviors. Hopefully you will get good news on Friday but if not, I'm sure you will find a new position. Hopefully a place with a current outlook to their safety culture. Cooking some BBQ sounds good but you may still have some early hours if they serve lunch. Need to smoke it low and slow :-) 0 -

If you have the prescription for the machine you can buy it anywhere. The doctor may write xyz brand but you can get what your want as long as it does what the doctor prescribed. You can get set up probably for less than you may think.
Since CPAPs aren't sold on GB I guess it's okay to post sites for them. This is the machine I use: https://www.cpapsupplyusa.com/36015-ResMed-S9-Autoset.aspx it works great for me, I'm sure some others would as well. It is auto adjusting and is set within the parameters of the prescription.
Tack on about $200 more for the humidifier. Then you'll need your mask and head gear, $125-200. When you are ready to buy give them a call and talk to a rep to make sure you get every thing you need.
I bought a humidifier but quit using it. I just don't need it and it saves a lot of time and work not using it. I also tried the climate control tubing along with the humidifier, I no longer use that either. I use a nasal pillow and I do not know if you use a full mask how much difference that may, or may not, make.
The company on the website is the one I've been using, there are others. If you buy from a local medical equipment place you will pay much more. My local place wasn't just more expensive it was ridiculously so.
You can get a battery pack on Amazon for about $325 plus what ever extras you add on. I don't have one but have been thinking of getting one. Be good of the power goes out but also for camping.0 -
If you need to sell a motorcycle, a few guns, your body, what ever, get the CPAP. All the troubles your are describing are going to cost you hard if you don't. You will be healthier if you breath while sleeping. 0 -

If your scrip is for a fixed pressure, this machine will do the job just fine for a lot less money. I have one that's still brand new I got for a back-up to my Autoset10. Got it on sale for 189 bucks a couple of years back. The humidifier is included as well.

I took Ricci's advice on posting too much on the internet, and went back and deleted some. Was awake about 3 am thinking about it, so I just got up and did it. Seemed like the smart thing to do.
I will get the two weeks of unused vacation, and I've got a decent amount in the bank. I will also get the 5 years worth of Profit sharing I have been accumulating. (That was my hope to use, for the early retirement at 60.) Its not crisis time yet.0 -

your insurance should continue for 30 days or remainder of next month, tell the DR you need your cpap rushed and why you are loosing your insurance, they may put a rush on it........... I still say don't give in, go down swinging, ask for video 0 -

That isn?t a corrective action. Management didn?t give you the tools to prevent the safety incident from occurring.
That?s managements fault- not yours.
What they should be asking you is how to fix the process.
If they let you go that tells you what dumbasses are leading that place.0 -

Thanks for the post Warbirds. I've been wondering how things worked out for you with your blowout with your Boss.
Those of us who have worked for years on the fast paced Production line, know full well that what "Safety" and what the Management/Foremen are telling us are diametrically opposed. I personally have said that very thing to "Safety," multiple times. You get a blank look, or An "I Know."
I went to a re-training on a "close call incident," where me and another guy were almost hurt by the "Hurry up, Hurry up culture," about 2 months ago. (Involving the un -safe Move of a Trailer we were working on. ) A Supervisor and a Foreman were the ones rushing the move. Hooked a Truck up to it, and yanked it out with no warning. I was the one who reported it to Safety.
When I asked "Safety" why we had to attend the "re-training class," I was told "Everyone involved had to attend the re-training." I stated at that time, "I do not see the Foreman or the Supervisor, who were up front and rushing the Move here? Why is that?" Deer in the headlights look. "I just do what I am told."
I had a lot to say at that meeting/class about what was really going on, on the floor/Production line, about the diametric opposition of what we were being told by the two sides - and the untenable ("No win.") Situation it placed us in every day. Move after move.
It went no-where.
I am now going to pay the price for that Culture.
I could go on, and on. (But) Have said enough, and will end it there.0 -
Look at it this way Ken, getting away from the stress will add years to your life. This may be the best thing that could have happened to you. If you need anything there are a lot of us here that will lend a hand.

I know that very much Sir. Almost everyone that works there, Hates it. It is a common topic of conversation. The turnover rate is very high. I have been hanging on for a while now, because of the pay. Nothing around here comes close. (There is a reason for that.)
Posts like yours, (and many others here.) are the reason I Love this place, and consider a large majority of you Friends, Peers, and downright Family. There are a ton of great people on here.

Ken, I am not sure how unemployment works in your location but if is anything like Michigan then you might want to rethink this. I have experience in this from both sides. Here if they fire you can collect unemployment compensation. If you don't call they can say you abandoned your job and you can't collect. Doesn't matter if they were going to fire you or not. Unless you give them the chance to actually terminate your employment in person or by phone then they can say you quit.
In Michigan (unemployment capital of the country) employers know all the tricks. The amount they have to pay to the unemployment fund is determined by how many employees they have fired and have collected from the fund. Nobody wants to collect unemployment but it can provide a cushion until you find a good paying job that is compatible with your lifestyle. Wouldn't want Buddy to go hungry while you are looking. From your earlier posts, it sounded like you agreed to call them.
You also stated that you have adopted a screw you attitude.
The big question is do you want to keep the job?
If you want to keep the job, call them and keep an open mind. You have already admitted to the incident being your fault, so simply be prepared to confirm how it will never happen again. It is possible that the call is just a formality and that you are going to be fired, but unless that is what you want, there is no reason to make sure it happens. As BobJudy stated, make the call. There are financial ramifications associated with quitting vs. being fired.
I had to fire one of our guys a couple of months ago. I have never like firing people, but when he reacted in, shall we say, a less than pleasant manner, it sure made it easier to let him go.
I wish you the best of luck in that I hope things turn out for you how you would like them to turn out.

I want to be able to confront this Head On. (I am not afraid of you.) Tell them that I will be contacting Corporate in regards to the "Safety," Culture that is actually in place on the floor. (You know, Reality.)
If they are going to Fire me, I've got no problem contacting Corporate "Safety," and hanging some A$$es out to dry. Relaying what I have been saying for years now.
