I Think I am Screwed - Yep, Let Go.
I was given 3 days off suspension. "Call on Friday Morning, to discuss status of your employment."
Was hesitant to share, but (most) of you Guys are like Family. Good thoughts and Prayers welcomed.

I am envious of your clarity in a crap situation.
If I can assist at all I will.0 -

I appreciate you so much Brother.
I will make out.
Thank you though.0 -
That just sucks. I know you?re keeping a stiff upper lip, but it?s surely not a good feeling. I wish you the best of fortune. 0 -
Just discussed the situation with my 90 yr. old Mom, when she called, just now.
I do not think she appreciates the gravity of the situation.
"Well, come over and eat tomorrow evening."
Okay Mom.0 -
Screw em, go file for unemployment. 0 -
Well crap. I was really hopin' that would turn out better for ya, Ken.
That said, now that you're no longer encumbered by a job you didn't much seem to care for you can go out and do something that you'll enjoy.
BTW, Drobs is right. Take the un-employment 'till something better comes along. You've paid into it for God only knows how long so you might as well get some benefit out of it.0 -
Dammit. Sorry this happened at all. I feel you handled it very well and was the better man. I'm sure you will recover just fine and drive on. This just may help your stress/sleep issues also. 0 -
Take the unemployment & some time off to wind down from the stress they gave you.
You'll find another job. Like you said, closer to home & lower stress.0 -
Sorry to hear it turned out this way. VA may be the way to go, but don't ignore COBRA. As stated earlier it is the same insurance you currently have but you pay both sides, your portion and the employer portion. I just started this last month and it is a more cost effective option for us than having to go to the market place. 0 -

Take this as its meant from the heart - please, as I have been there and felt as you do and responded as you intend - and battles the mixture of self righteous anger and shame and immediate need to feel I fought back for righteous reasons...
You will not get your job back - you will not come out on the plus side of a lawsuit - you will not change the outlook or behavior of corporate management - you might get denied unemployment benefits - or be labeled in the govt. Bureaucracy as a bad actor or a non hire...
You have invested your heart and soul and sweat and blood and time and treasure into this job - you have been IMHO a model employee and a good man - they don't care.
I guarantee - as unpalatable and nauseating and immoral as it seems - that HR and managing have viewed your cost to the employee health care system at this point and the number of days issued dealing with your very real health issues as a factor is dismissing you or not retaining you.
Equally important to their formulas will be your age and decline and the brief window they might have left with you before you retire or move on of your own accord...
Also consider that they will see you as disruptive and seeking revenge - as a hand grenade with the pin straightened - they will cover their own add over treating you legally or ethically or morally or fairly...
You will spend energy and effort and time and heart and soul and courage beating a dead horse.
Complaints to OSHA or to any oversight agency or scheme (ISO or PRIMUS or HACCP) will get rebuffed and have zero impact unless someone dies or loses a limb or is blinded - their lawyers will squash it working the system...
I understand in my head and heart why you want to react as you do - why it's the core of who you are as a good man and friend and employee...
I have been on both sides of this issue and have fought hard battles I had no chance of winning and which ultimately had no lasting impact or footprint other then hurting myself...
The best bet - the way to show them they cannot hurt you is to move on asap and keep winning without them - without so much as a hiccup or misstep...
It's hard for a good man to wash his hands and walk away from 5 years as if you were a nobody with no impact - trust me I know...
But why continue to let them cause you stress or anger or adrenaline - they have dismissed you and deleted you and disrespected you.
You win by not letting it affect you - by smiling and staying with the minor road bump in what was your master plan anyway...
Call your doctors and see if young get 90 day scrip supplies and if you can force in every last appointment and payment due before you ate cut off - work the system and bleed them dry for all you are worth - it should help somewhat...
I have gone out in a blaze of glory - fighting for all I was worth and I am sad to say in the end it meant nothing to anyone but me.
We already respect you - and value you - they don't now and never will.
It's impossible for men like us not to become invested and not to give more than we are obligated - not to care about our jobs and work and coworkers and the end result of our labors.
You know you did good - you know that you always have and always will.
I simply - through the sum of my life's experiences - don't think you can win or make a difference in this situation - and don't want you to waste precious resources on what is now a dead end and a closed issue.
That does not mean your sterile or impotent or worthless or old or have no value - but why allow them to keep affecting your life in any way - cut them off and cut them out - and while it might cost like crazy find out about COBRA continuation of your health care for another 3 months and systematically bleed them dry and get what you deserve...
I support you with no hesitation - and no questions...
And for what it's worth it's unfair and I am sorry it happened to you.
Hang in there and keep the faith and keep in touch.
Mike
Mike, I tried to contact you via PM. I see you have disabled that feature. I understand why.
I understand, recognize, and agree with everything you are saying.
I will not get down in the mud with them, but will walk away head held high.
I am better than that.
Nor, do I wish to involve them in meaningless litigation. I was told "You can appeal this to the Plant Manager, if you wish." (A fellow Veteran, I am on good terms with.) I told the head of the HR department, "There is no need for that. We both know, that will not change the outcome of the situation."
I appreciate your insight Mike, as I do/have all the others who have posted to this.
I already feel somewhat liberated. Work has been increasingly difficult to get up at 4:15 am and go to, every day. It has been a long time coming, but it is for the best, in the end.
Thank You, to ALL.0 -
Ken can this small lapse you had at work that you took responsibility for be attributed to your sleep apnea? Can your breathing problems be a result of your time in the service? Just wondering if you have any chance of being due some disability compensation from the V.A.? Not sure of the details of your service but it might be something to think about. Still wishing you the best of luck. Bob 0 -

Thanks Bob. Not looking to stick the VA with a disability claim. (Hell, I've never gone there one time, since getting out in 1984.) If they will help cover my Health Care from this point forward, I'd be thrilled.
My hearing is shot, Vision just re-done via Surgery, can't breath out of my nose (broken multiple times.) Mitral Valve/A -Fib issues. If I was a dog, they'd put me down.

Ken,
I struggled with disabling the private message function and deleting the info in my profile...
As you know I have some true fans here that like to send me encouraging love notes - to brighten my day...
I have even blocked the content from several members completely - again I am unhappy about that but I seem to provoke that kind of misanthropic idolatry and pure rage based hatred in a small percentage of folks...
It does have the unfortunate side effect of cutting me off from friends and colleagues and associates - which I greatly regret.
I no longer wish to allow crass baser folk from ruining my day or embroiling me in controversy - to engage them is to give into to rage and hate and to release ones grip on reality - allowing them to in effect win and have an impact on my life...
I have even failed to post about my last two hospital stays - as the email generated by two particularly odious trolls are pretty vile and offensive...
You are not the only one to notice the changes I made or comment on it.
It's times like this that I regret having no good recourse - as I consider you a friend and am unhappy to be out of contact when you had the need to lean on me or have a discussion.
The whole situation pains me - nags me.
I figured the first time you read through my post you would be pissed off - but that you would end up reading through it several times and that you would understand my point of view.
Before cancer I would have raged against the machine and tilted at windmills and put up an epic struggle - but I have a different point of view and philosophy now.
I can still be that person if needed but I choose to avoid it when possible.
They have stacked the deck - in a vile and repulsive and immoral manner - the more you fight the worse it will get - exposing yourself to even more heinous attention - as they ramp things up.
They have already discussed your being a disruptive element with undue influence on the workforce - making to much money and costing them to much in benefits and non salaried compensation...
As to some not understanding why they no longer terminate you on site and in person - they fear someone like you with elite military background and a firearms enthusiast going postal and if not breaking someone's nose and causing a scene - of you going postal and hunting them down - shooting the place up and killing folk.
It's unfair and unrealistic - it's an excuse for them to avoid handling themselves like men - and they love it...
I understand at my core in my head and heart and soul how you feel and why - don't give the beaches the satisfaction...
You deserve a break - you deserve benefits including unemployment and VA medical - while you will actively seek employment you should be okay with relaxing a little and smelling the flowers - taking the dog on an excursion - stay a few days with your mom - take stock of things - meet the challenge head on with eyes open.
You got this - take a breath - spend some time on yourself and your passions - find a not so bad gig close to home with decent hours that will not cripple you before you can retire.
We have your back.

I appreciate you Mike.
I wish we could meet, and I could give you a firm Brotherly Hug. (From the Heart.)
I would absolutely LOVE it, if GB could organize some regional get togethers/Bbq's and all around - here are the people you have been talking to venue.
Of course some Fist fights, might break out. So I am sure that would not be possible.
As an aside, there are two individuals I have blocked, on these Forums. I understand where you are coming from. No problems here Brother.0 -
Had to do a little searching to find the outcome. Sorry to hear you are done. Hope you land on your feet brother. Try hard to find something before the end of the year. January is a tough time to find employment 0 -
