Anyone own one?
Looking for feedback.
401cc single cylinder, EFI, 2WD basic UTV, made in America. (Minnesota/Georgia.)
$5799 new.
For what I am looking for, it may be the ticket. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that owns one. (If any here.)

Although I get treated like a rented Mule at work, I want something my dog and I can tool around in. 8000 acre Off road recreational area, (Doe Mtn. Recreational area.) 2wd, 20 mph, Dump bed, 500 lbs capacity. Cutting firewood, like multiple buddies and bringing it out, would be a bonus.
My back road in the holler, would be perfect for tooling around, with the dog. He would absolutely Love it.
Next step up goes to around $8k for 4wd and 45mph capability. I do not really need that. (I've got a modified Jeep Wrangler if it comes to that.)0 -
Textron made my EZ-Go gas powered golf cart. It does just about everything you mentioned with the 400 UTV. The governor has been modified and I can do around 20mph. I think of it like a pontoon boat for just cruising land instead of a lake at quiet slow speeds.
Tried to get my Golden Retriever to ride along with me but his body shape just does not sit comfortably along side me in the front seat or definitely not in the back facing rear seat.
My next idea is to build a dog friendly trailer to tow along with the cart.0 -

The Roxor is WAY overpriced at $9k. The Basic Roxor's do not look Anything like those.
(I own a modified Jeep Wrangler. If I really desire Off-road capability.)
I watched the walk around video of the Ox 400 , prior to posting here. (After discovering it's existence.) [At $5799]
I was unaware you could get a UTV for less than apprx. $10k.
I would encourage others here to watch the "walk around" video of the OX 400, and let me know what you think, please.
I would appreciate input, from those more knowledgable than I, on UTV's. I am looking for a super basic UTV. This seems to fit the bill. (I Really like the made in America, aspect.)0 -
Sounds like it would suit you just fine.
I take the passenger seat out of my Polaris RZR and put in a thick piece of foam for my dog.
I wish I had 8000 acres close by to ride on.
I have to load up and drive an hour to ride the trails in WVa.0 -

have had hunting buddies buy the off brands over the last few years, one was whatever brand tractor supply sold, and another was an Otis brand, the biggest issue besides resale, was finding someone to work on them. both were told they were warrantied ect, but on cousin had trouble with shifting on tractor supply model and could never find anyone to work on it, tractor supply only sells them, my other cousing with the Otis had to go over a 100 miles to find someone willing to do the warranty then they couldn't get the parts, simple dashboard was shorting out, could not get replacement for close to 8 months and by the time they got it put in his warranty had expired, the replacement dash did the same thing within a month, he never got the problem solved, and when he tried to trade it in no one wanted it or would even offer to take it on trade, same with the tractor supply model. the deallers will promise you anything, I would want the number of local mechanic who would do repairs and then go talk to them about problems and company making good on warrenty ect.
I bought a 500 pioneer side by side for this reason, honda was reliable and dependable repair network on parts and service. new they go around 8500 you may find a used one in the 5000 to 6000 range and they are small enough to haul in back of full size truck. I think Bpost, Bruce also has one if you need reviews.....0 -

a rather large atv/utv dealer where my cousin was dealing with, he wanted new Kawasaki side by side, also said they didn't take Kabota or john deere utvs on trade, just something to consider when buying, you may get a good deal but if something goes wrong, there are lemons in all/every make and model, getting it fixed, and then getting you money back out of it are to me the two biggest things to consider........ 0 -
My EZ-GO golf cart made by Textron is fairly easy to work on (engine wise) and there is a lot of good helpful information available online for the do it yourselfer. The BIGGEST problem I have run across is finding sources for factory made (OEM USA) parts. All of the parts that come up when looking are Chinese sourced and all have been pure JUNK!
I ended up going to a local large scale golf coarse and got to know their mechanic and grounds keeper. Turns out he went to high school with one of my younger brothers. Had him go over my cart and he replaced all of the junk parts with OEM along with showing me how to do valve adjustments and a few other regular maintenance tasks.0 -
I wouldn't touch one of those "modified golf cart/lawn tractor/looks like but isn't" UTV's.
I've run Polaris since 1994 and although some have required more than preventative maintenance, the brand has stood up to some hard use and holds resale value as good or better than any other brand. Over that period f time, I've owned 10-12 units of various configurations. Only 1 was bought new and the others were 3-5 years old when I got them. Buy/sell/trade, some I made a profit on in addition to having the use of the machine and some I didn't but they all performed well.
In farm country, it's easy to see who has the $$ to invest in the high end, high resale equipment. Those folks are buying Polaris and CanAm. The guys who are just buying a price point w/o much regard for resale/trade-in value are buying "the other stuff".0 -

You can make them street legal but it is not easy at least here in NC with our draconian vehicle laws.

Yes Sir. Our local Motorcycle/Stihl dealer got one in about 6-8 months ago. I was somewhat interested, until I found out they were apprx. $9K. You can buy a fairly nice used old school Wrangler/Jeep for that, that IS road legal, and dried in. I've got a modified 2010 Wrangler, for serious offroad capability.
I am looking for something super basic, does not need to be fast. Slowly tooling about, (20mph, and under) is the goal, with the dog hanging in the back or beside me.
Anyone watch the "Bumper to Bumper," video/review? Thoughts?

While I appreciate what you are saying Brother. I am planning on retiring in two years. Everything by then, needs to be paid off 100%. I am well aware of the limited capabilities of a 2wd. Long time Redneck/4 wheeler. The only restrictions/problems I foresee are in the snow. I have been all over the trails around here in my Jeep. I know I could go apprx. 90% of the areas I have been, in a small 2wd. My outlook/plan for this vehicle are rather limited in scope.
$18k, is beyond my Toy budget, given the restraints I have discussed above. I have other things I plan on utilizing my extra cash on, in terms of home improvements, etc.
I've got some things I need to sell, that are languishing in my 30X40' metal outbuilding.

gotta agree with hobo, though you don't need the 18k model put another grand or so in it and get 4x4, first time your stuck, mud,high center, you will wish you had it, and if you try to get rid of it you may find it harder than you thought. look at the used prices and you should get an idea of how they hold value 0 -

May look used, but I prefer to buy new. May work a trade on my BMW F650 dual sport, languishing in the outbuilding. I am done riding on the road, on two wheels. I've done so since I was 15. (58 now) Been there, done that.
I am being realistic about my expectations of the 2wd. Not expecting it to conquer the World. Just mainly, tool around with the dog. 80% or so easily, on our small paved holler road, or the gravel paths leading in to the hard stuff, off roading way up in the boonies on the trails I have been on.
You would have to see the trails I am talking about being on, in this thing. Not extremely difficult stuff, by any means.
I do however appreciate all the feedback and comments.

I?ve been looking into textron brand since you started this thread.
I wouldn?t exactly call them a no name, sold at obscure place, machine.
They are rebranded ski-do?s. A fairly reputable manufacturer.
If you have a dealer near you, I would go for it. They have service enters in them.

Just one more thought about 2 wheel drive units. Ken, you could simply install a winch on the front end of the Tracker 400. That would get you out of any sticky places and save you some long walks!

It doesn't appear much more durable then a lifted golf cart, but if cruising around on paved paths and gravel roads is all you are gonna use it for then no point in spending more. 500 lb payload, 1200 lb towing and a built in 2" receiver hitch is a nice touch. Since you have a Wrangler doesn't seem like you'd need much more capability in a UTV. Have you looked at used off road golf carts? 0 -

I just looked at the NC C-list and SxS, even the clapped out ones are all over 5K and most are around 7-9K
Then I went and looked for a Roxor and they are going for over 13K :shock:
I always wanted a Rokon Trailbreaker. Put you dog on a lead or train him to sit on back this would fun IMO. Here is one not too far from you:

I am looking for a super basic UTV to go tooling about with the dog. 500lb dump bed capacity, 1200lb towing capacity with a built in 2" hitch, this seems to fit the bill at $5700. Can pull my very small 4X8' trailer, bring wood out. (A bonus.) Downed wood, is fair game in the Doe Mtn. Reacreational area. (My backyard.)
Pretty much all around me. Can access, fairly easy trails leading miles up into the back country, with a lifted 2wd easily. Come along or a winch? Good to go.0 -

At that price point got to be Chinese parts, although assembled in the US. I would think twice before buying it. Number of years ago there was an outfit named Joiner, who sold various off road vehicles.
Using the same business plan, i.e. Chinese made parts, and vehicles under their name. Emphasizing, that they were a reputable U.S. company. Haven't heard anything, from or about Joiner in years. Far as I know. Their bad rep for durability and availability of repair parts. Has put them and their Chinese caca in the toilet, never to be heard from again.0 -
Well aware of the "made in the USA," BS.
We here at Utility Trailer, in Glade Springs, VA. Source some Chinese parts. (Extremely few.) Our Quality Control is ridiculously high. We, as a Company made 10,500+ Tractor Trailer, Trailers last year. Very High End.
It is still a "Made in America," product. (And) I am very proud of that. Our Quality, is second to none.
