Holy CRAP it is huge! (My new trailer!)
I need a 20' trailer........but it is just Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!
I got a killer deal on this sucker! 2019 trailer, less than 6 months old. Guy who bought it had a tiny little Dodge that won't pull it (lol!)
They are about $21k out the door at the dealer, I paid $14k!
SO happy to have found this, because if I didn't find one SOON, I was going to be paying the $21k!

ya that's huge, a semi trailer is 53' so that's half a semi truck
what the heck are you going to haul with that?0 -
What did you expect with a name like "Big Tex" something little like a shopping cart?
So with a savings of $7K vacation or a bucket list gun/rifle?0 -

Very nice, and great deal.
looks like your next expenditure will be installing a set of load leveling air bags.
We have them on all three dually pickups, they work great.
I thought about buying one, but knew that it would get used more by others than me. So I bought an old yellow F-700 dump truck from a local municipality and no one asks to borrow it

Pretty much anything he wants to, I'd reckon!
Nice score, Merc! Those are great dump trailers.0 -
Gonna haul dirt to pot a few cactus? I little arroyo fill on the new place? Nosey minds want to know.

Nice! You do realize that outfit requires a CDL to operate, right? 0 -

Just having horse trailers and one 25' 20K flatbed, I'm not up on CDL requirements.
My normal pickup tags licensemy vehicles for 26K
What makes this set up need the CDL?
Inquiring minds want to know.

That is a super buy on that unit. Income potential to leave on job sites and haul other folks junk off. Just make sure you tarp the junk inside. They are hard on tickets here in SC for loose loads. 0 -
If you look at the ID placards on each vehicle( pickup, and trailer) and the gross vehicle weight rating(GVWR)of both vehicles adds up to more than 26K pounds it requires a CDL to operate. It is figured on the GVWR, or the actual gross weight you have it licensed for, whichever is more. Unless you license them "farm", and those requirements vary state to state.dpmule wrote:

Truck weighs around 7500-8000#. That leaves around 18000# for the trailer and contents to stay under 26k. Nice Rig 0 -
Start researching transmissions if you don't live/work in flat terrain
.................experience speaking to you  and possibly why the previous owner took a big loss.0 -
It does not matter one damn bit what that truck weighs. That truck has a weight RATING of around 14K. That dual tandem trailer is RATED at about 20K. It is a combination that is RATED for about 34K. That combination requires a class A CDL along with a medical card, and all the other BS it takes to maintain a CDL. There are lots of these types of things running around, and the feds/states are cracking down. The fines for operating without a CDL are stiff, and might even be a felony in today's world. 0 -

I never stop at Ports in Idaho, Wyoming or Utah and they haven't chased me down yet
I'm going to keep doing "the farmer thing" until I can't
, and then plead ignorance I guess.
I do keep all my coggins, health, and brand inspections up to snuff when hauling horses and mules between states though.

Here is a "flow chart" to see if one needs a CDL. It is for Washington, but all states should have similar online information. If not, any state's requirements will be about the same as those in the link below.

Mule,
You're probably safe towing horse/stock trailers in farming/ranching/rodeo country. Hitch up your 20K flatbed and haul something that even looks like it could be a commercial venture, and the goon squad could give you trouble.0 -

I looked at Idaho's chart and it reads basically the same.
Another venue for money I guess.
Like I said I'll keep doing the farmer thing until I can't.
They crack down and it will effect a lot of folks I know.

Sorry, but I have heard that before, not about a hauling trailer though
stock trailer.

Nonsense.. Unless the truck and trailer with contents weigh more than 26000 combined you are good to go. 0 -
That is exactly what the people at the DMV told me. They said it doesn't matter what the *potential* is, as long as you are under the 26,000 lb mark.

Notice all of these states go off the manufacture's "gross vehicle weight RATING (GVWR). NOT off the actual gross weight of the vehicle.0 -

REgardless of the price, NOTHING is a good deal UNLESS you have a valid use for it.
A natural gas furnace has zero value in the middle of the Amazon jungle where there is no electricity or natural gas.

Unfortunately, I have about 300k pounds of stuff to move. Literally everything that is going into my house has to be hauled in by ME.
Everything except the concrete slabs, and even that is up in the air.
I have a 35' flatbed that is going to move the "bigger stuff".

Food for thought
I would suggest that if you don?t have a breaker bar, a long extension and proper sized socket to fit lug nuts to buy you a tire iron that will work.
I found out the hard way that my tire irons that work on my single wheel trailers wasn?t what I needed on my 20K flatbeds duals.
