Who has a dog
That drinks out of the toilet?
Of my two dogs one does all the time the other only when hes real thirsty and the other dog is drinking out of the dog bowl.
I have a step on water dispenser out side(We have a dog door) and neither will use it unless I am outside with them, not sure why.
I guess the toilet water is fine to drink, I keep the toilets clean, I don't use any weird stuff in the tank and the water if from my 450' well that I had tested and is very good. My well water is some of the best water I have ever drank and its ice cold.

I have cats, they are somewhat more fastidious. Well, at least one of them is. We keep the lids down. 0 -

I hold many have pets simply so they can 'boss' something around.

Cats stay outside at casa Sam
My wife keeps her toilet lid down and bathroom door closed to keep them out but they drink freely out of my toilet and the hall toilet.
She sat down one time after she forgot to drop the lid and left the door open and yep one of the dogs had drunk out of her toilet and soaked the seat I laughed my ass off to hear her bithcin0 -

I have two at the house, one does, one doesn't. Three more, that live with my ex, are coming to visit for a week this evening. Two of those three choose to sample from the porcelain fountain on occasion. Five critters can be interesting twice daily (0430/1700) when it's 'feeding time at the zoo'.
Agree Sam, I could really care less about most humans but love my dogs. Don't even let me catch someone messing with my critters0 -

I have had 4 dogs at one time 2 Golden's, a Rottweiler and a Dachshund. The Dachshund was the boss
Its funny how that happens. The Rot was the only female but no one took advantage of her0 -
They keep me busy Sam, don't mind it a bit though, just lots of shoveling in the yard. They're all rescues, one (Hooch) is a bigun', over 130 lbs. he's of undetermined age, somewhere between 12-15, Great Dane/Rotweiler mix. We/she's had him for years and he's just a great dog but age is catching up to him. He's developing cataracts and a good deal of arthritis. He can manage stairs but usually needs one of us to lay a hand on his shoulders, for confidence I suppose, as he negotiates up and down. The others are : Abbey and Ellie-Walker Hounds, Noel-Pit gentle as a lamb and Toby-Coon Hound/Daschund mix. 0 -
I have 2 Treeing Walker Coonhounds who probably would if the water bowl was empty. We leave the lid down all the time just in case.
We are also watching my Daughter and Son in Laws Lab/Bulldog mix until his deployment is over. He definitely would if we let him.0 -

My PBGV not only prefers the toilet to the big bowl of water in the kitchen, she also will find things to eat out in the yard if I am not on top of the pooper scooper pick up!! Her breed is very popular in Europe and there are very few here in the states. Other than her chewing habits, she is a very sweet K9. My other dog, a golden retriever male that weighs in at 110 pounds is a saint compared to the lil miss!0 -
Have had dogs for 50 years, usually not more than two. I trained dogs for that time, generally hunting breeds. I preferred labs and wire hairs, but had many other breeds. I never let them drink out of the toilet, if dogs are trained properly they will do what you tell them. There are blockheads, move on, and get a good one. They should desire to please you. If you are not smarter than your dog, hire some one that is to train them properly. 0 -

The St Bernard will drink out of the toilet if the seat is left up. I try not to let that happen because if you don't think about it and sit down......you find a wet seat sometimes where she has dripped water all over it while having her fill. I'd just DIE if someone came to the house and asked to use the facilities to find water all over the place (not knowing a giant dog was to blame.) 0 -

I'd pay to watch my dogs drink out of the toilet it would be a hoot, all three are less than twenty pounds and if they ever did get up there and into a toilet far enough to get a drink in all likelihood that is where I'd eventually find them, ass in the air stuck. 0 -
My dogs aren't allowed in the bathroom.
But I have one that can peel all the hair off a tennis ball in olympic time.0 -
My old Airedale Jiggs, that I lost a couple years ago, much to my wife's dismay drank out of the toilet all the time.
Didn't make any difference if the lid was down, he figured out how to lift it with his nose and then bam you would hear the lid slam shut as he pulled his head back and if he did get it all the way up sometimes, he still left a water trail for the Bride to step in during the night.
Only way to keep him out of it was to shut the bathroom door and that wasn't an option during the winter.
He got a regular Scotch blessing for it, but I miss him.

That is the only way to stop them. Both of mine will lift the lid. The one that drinks from the bowl the most will put his paws in the bowl if the lid is down. Its like his way of saying; "silly human you cannot stop me and here is your punishment for trying".0
