Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris Burned Down
On all the news. Going to be a total loss after standing there for almost a thousand years.

Looks like the wood scaffolding they put up to 'fix' it and the roof are burning quite well.
I have my doubts the stone part will burn .. but some of it may collapse.
Wonder if the Muslims are cheering and dancing i the streets yet :?:0 -
First London Bridge and now this, there'll be song about it someday.
Lucky some statues were removed for the renovation and the fire started in the attic allowing some time to remove artifacts.
Last I heard the roof had collapsed. Wonder who will throw the first rock at Macron. He's not popular, to say the least, and I'd bet he'll make some stupid statement about the fire.
Something like "There were some people who did some things>>

Sad, survived two World Wars. 0 -
870 years of history.
No telling how many priceless works of art and history are destroyed.
A sad day for the whole world.........
had to edit this post.
IF this turns out to be an act of terrorist, I say let the Vatican Guards loose with one order:
Find the people responsible and make sure they can never do it again.0 -
First news reports I thought it was Notre Dame in South Bend In. 0 -
200 years to build, and about 200 minutes to burn.
Damn.

That is really a shame. It withstood wars and goes away in a fire. 0 -

It survived the French revolution also.
Lots of history there. Henry VI of England was made king of France inside Notre-Dame in 1431. Napoleon Bonaparte was crowned emperor there in 1804.0 -
The oft foretold Islamic caliphate may blossom in the middle east but it's roots are already deeply entrenched in northwestern Europe most visibly in France...
Is a tragedy to see it burn and collapse as it is unrecoverable and irreplaceable and steeped / imbued / soaked in history...
But I would hate to see it raised to the ground or converted into a mosque by a fascist Islamic state at some point in the possible or probable future.
Does the hunchback have aflac - can the international red Cross help relocate Notre Dame's famed hunchback in a suitable alternative locale...

Sad News indeed. 0 -
its a terrible loss 800+ years old and now gone
I did hear they had taken out most all the art work and church relics already due to the work in progress . so a bit of history was saved
they also said 52 or 54 ? acres of forest ( lumber ) it took to build the old section even said its nick name was the forest due too all the wood used .
and at least no life's were lost0 -
A shame. Yes, the hunchback of Notre Dame (Charles Lauton) would be sad. Certainly the good christians of Paris France will quickly restore this great cathedral... 0 -
I believe they were in the process of a preservation/renovation. Same thing happened to a big old beautiful house here awhile back. Painters using heat guns to remove old paint

Very sad, I wonder if it's a sign of what the current Pope seems to be doing to the church. 0 -
Wonder if the Flying Buttress supporting the cathedral walls stood firm and if any of the stained glass windows survived. Probably not, only survived in photos.

The spire is gone and appears to be the location where the fire started.

There's going to be a lot of tears and gnashing teeth in religious circles tonight! 0 -
My bet is muslim arson. It will never be reported though. 0 -
The main structure survived. The steeple and roof which had wood framing burned. The steeple dates from a renovation around 1830. Glad I saw it last September. 0 -
Sad day for sure 0 -
good thing quazi moto was not there to see it

I was just there right about a year ago.

Anytime you hear or see a structure of such stature and architecture pass into the history books is a sad day indeed. And then be a place of worship to God will be a hard pill to swallow if there was some kind of arson involved.
I would also hope that it was not a religious fueled arson attack. If so France would not be a place of forgiving of such a heinous act. If so repercussions will follow.0 -
Nitwit Angela Merkel let in 850 thousand Muslims in to Germany in a few years. And the French let in nearly as many.
This magnificent building has stood for 800 years, has survived world wars and revolutions. And yet, in the middle of this Muslim invasion, in the middle of the most holy week for Christians, it burns to the ground.
Muslims have often stated that they hate Western civilization, and they hate Christians. They took down the World Trade Center, the symbol, and the center of, Western capitalism.
So now, the second most revered building in Christianity is burned to the ground.
The Paris police chief said that the fire is an "accident" and "not a crime." Then he said he has no idea how it started.
It is a rigged investigation from the start. If you are not looking for a crime you surely won't find one. In France today, you are a racist if you even consider the idea that a Muslim burned the cathedral.
So sad, to see the demise of a once-great country.0 -

Wouldn't surprise me at all. DEMOCRAT media are full of sympathists. Last time I was in Paris, It reminded me of Iraq.
Even if by chance it was an accident, DEMOCRATs with their open borders and mass immigration dogma, are leading France as well as most of Western Europe toward certain self destruction.0 -
no construction crews present today, plus the fire was reported 15 minutes AFTER the last tour of the day....coincedence?? i think not 0 -

They are already trying to spin it, saying it was likely secularists or feminists anybody but the Muzloons.
My suspicions started when I learned the fire started a few minutes before 6 PM French time, big hand on the twelve and small hand on the six seems way too coincidental to be accidental IMO.

Interesting coincidence.

That'll never happen. Not in our life time. The once proud French people are nothing more than a mere shadow of their former selves. Liberalism has destroyed that country and it'll take total destruction and going back though a period like the dark ages again before it'll ever change.0
