NASCAR-stick a fork in them

Just flipped to the Bristol race. Looks like a few hundred people there. Whole sections empty. Not that long ago, it was consistently sold out, over 100,000 seats.
I don?t see how they can continue like this.

    Ticket prices got out of hand but the hotels really try to screw you . Just read an article that said the cheapest hotel room in the area was $300 a night. Lots of folks can?t afford to play at these prices

    Watching golf, now there is edge-of-the-seat excitement at it's best. That makes the the constant left turns of nascar look like the most exciting thing ever.

    All these reasons PLUS the once potential new fans who are teenagers don?t seem to even be interested in cars at all anymore. Can?t believe how many kids at my niece?s high school don?t drive and don?t even bother to get a license unless the parents force it on them. These people have little interest outside their bubble of their phones.

    Just flipped over to catch up on the Richmond race . 60 Laps to go and 17 cars on the lead lap . As it was last week the stands are less than 1/2 full .

    Well c'mon, look at what they have for cars. Front wheel drive Honda cars? Tuners?? I hear these things go by our place. I got chainsaws that run better than that. Long live the 428 Cobra Jet.....

    the 428 Cobra Jet never made a NASCAR race in its existence.
    NASCAR had a 7 liter limit, 61 cubic inches per liter = 427 cubic inches.

    The 428 Cobra Jet was built to go drag racing.

    1/2 full? Last week at Bristol the stands were maybe 20%

    Richmond seating capacity use to be 112,000, they have removed more than half the seating so now capacity is under 55,000 and they still cannot sell half of those that remain

    My co-worker has season tickets to Bristol. He was notified that his seats were upgraded from corner bleacher seats to back stretch stadium seating at not up charge, guaranteed for two years. They closed all the seating in the corners and upper deck. He said there was probably less than 40,000 people there, and Bristol seats 160,000+. He camps and normally the tier they camp on has 40-50 RVs, he said there were seven. Martinsville wasn't any better. Apparently NASCAR is going to shuffle the schedule next year and move Bristol and Martinsville to later in the year. Another co-worker was giving away four tickets to Richmond. I just didn't feel like making the drive.

    Yep. As previously stated, I live somewhat local. Campgrounds even fairly far away from Bristol, (like where I live,) would ordinarily be packed with RV's. We did not see it this year. Not even close. I'd say they are Toast.

    before I retired about 4 years ago one of the fellows who loved to brag ( house cars kids money you name it ) one of his sons got a job with a race team as a tire guy and some other job . we heard about that day in and out how his son was promised the world what a great job the owners said he did and they would take care of him move him up in the corporation , so he built a really nice house and was living the high life
    but a couple years back.... he got the aaahhhh sorry bud we are cutting back all the BS we fed you well forget it and have a good life
    you were one of the last to come in and one of the fist to get cut
    I did feel bad for his son but the dad well he stopped the bragging about the perks and free tickets and how much they liked his son
    I do not recall the race team and would just be guessing now .
