Every 3 years here, no notifications. Must send renewal application (12 pages) at least 100 days prior to expiration. Forget/don?t get it in on time? Good luck getting yer permit back. Oh, yeah, prints/photos and $110 fee for original app, non-refundable...most are denied. Nice huh?

No notifications sent out in Maryland. They sent my renewal packet back once because I sent it in six months before expiration, I've sent it in three months before expiring ever since then and they always take three months to approve it.

Ohio doesn't notify you. And last year for the first time since my first CCW in 2004, I missed the expiration date by over 2 months. I went out to the Sheriff's office, and the detective said no problem, come on back and we'll fix you up. Answered a few questions, took my picture and sent me on my way. The next day I got a call to come and pick up my new license.

The detective was surprised that my license # was 00102. It would have been a lot lower, but the class I wanted to take was booked up solid for over 4 months. :)

By the way, I had 90 days to renew my license before I would have to take the classes all over again. Originally Ohio had a 4-year renewal, then changed it to 5 years. Renewal cost was $45.

Virginia does not. However, the same procedures for renewal as for the first time application.
Which brings to mind, I don?t think you are notified when your C&R license is about to expire.
    Correct me if I?m wrong.
I despise asking the government for permission to exercise my rights.

Was asking a serious question. You (again) had to be a one liner Smart A$$. ""Are you Ten?" (Apparently you are.)

We get them here in Wake County NC.

Kind of a PITA to renew because I have to go to downtown Raleigh to do the paperwork and pay.

You have to pay for parking, dodge bums and scamers, go through a metal detector(no knives or guns), refill all the stupid paperwork on their stupid computer and pay a fee to the Sheriff's dept.

For me that is about a 3 hr process, but they do let you know you have to renew it. If you miss the deadline you have to do all the unconstitutional bullchit all over again to include the class and shooting test from some weird-o and pay him $90. The guy I took my class from was some religious wack job that preached to me for 12 hrs. By the end of the day I wanted to cut his throat in a pentagram with candles lit. Nothing against religion but I really didn't come to the class to be preached at.

We all have our cross to bear Ken, keep your chin up and drive on..................

Thank you for your "Adult" response Sam. Something "Don," can not seem to manage - unless it fits in a snappy one liner.

You were blaming the State for your failure. The State is not responsible for taking care of you, unless you are too young to know better. Don

Never said, "I blame the State." Merely said they (the State,) would inform me prior to expiration.

    Do you have cognitive dissonance?

Should not have to ask the State or Government for a Permit, (after paying for the privelage) to excercise a Constitutional Right.

I look for Constitutional Carry in all States. (As it should be.)

wMDhunter...we both suffer under the system here in the ?People?s Republic of MD?. It has to be about as repressive an operation as all but a few in the whole country.

Never thought I would say this but based on your states requirements I am glad I am in my state.

Our state is a "may" issue state based on suitability as determined by the local police chief. My state can take 6 months to issue your license so many licenses expired even when application for renewal was done months before expiration.

We finally got the law changed so that as long as you have receipt that renewal application was submitted before expiration date old license is good until new license is received.

I did my renewal application on 1/24 with PD. My current license expired on 3/24 still waiting for new license.

We do not get notice of renewal.

I think it was 2010 or 2011 when I was a resident of MD, issued a MD concealed carry permit, and one evening pulled over- got cuffed and stuffed into the back of a cop car for false identification when I gave a Baltimore County cop my drivers lic and concealed carry permit.

He insisted the MD concealed carry permit was a fake I.D. And repeatedly explained I was going to jail for a felony.

About 2 hours on the side of the road about 100 yards from a police station.

When it was sorted out and I complained- about 3 months later I got a letter stating he was acting with caution for officer safety & did nothing wrong.
