Does your State notify you prior to CCW Exp?

I specifically asked at the "Regional DMV," when it was issued. I asked again last time I renewed my License plates. (Recently.)

Was told each time, "Yes, just like your License or Plates, we will notify prior to expiration."






Uhh,...............................................................................................No. (They do not.) We were talking about this at work (lunch table,) today. Went to look at my CCW card, pulled mine out - sure enough, expired.


No notification.


Awesome.


I hope your State does a better job than mine.

(6 year permits here, TN.) Was hoping to renew with "Lifetime." (More $$.)

    I was just thinking of mine
    I put off getting my renewed and then just forgot so 2 months late I renewed it still waiting on the replacement its been 4 +weeks all was done except some LT who does the final OK
    I am going to call Monday and ask if was lost in the past it was a week or so not a month + to get it thru the mail

    The Clerk of Circuit Court for each County in Virginia handles CHLs. Mine happens to be organized and for the first time notified me by mail and included a renewal application. All I had to do was mail it back, with a check and I received the new one in the mail a few weeks later.

    Which brings to mind, I don?t think you are notified when your C&R license is about to expire.
    Correct me if I?m wrong.
    I despise asking the government for permission to exercise my rights.

    Montgomery County notified me this last time back in October. I was able to renew through the mail.

    If you happen to live in a "GOOD" state, you wouldn't need the darned permit.

    Will now have to go through the entire process again.

    Take 1/2 day off in order to go to the Regional DMV. 1 1/2hours away. Pay $150 for a "Background Check." You are then sent to UPS (?) for digital fingerprinting. [Regional DMV Office with Sherriff's Officers present can not perform this?] Pathetic.

    Schedule a "Class," (apparently designed for Slow Children.) for another $50, spend 3/4 of the day enduring a lecture and taking a test, then shooting.

    Last one was 100% on the written Test, 100% on the Shooting portion. (Apparently first one in a long while.) [??] Was asked by the two LEO's giving the class, "why was I not shooting competitively."

    Replied, I do not have the time, or $$ to blow on ammunition.


    Not happy on the lack of notification prior to expiration. (6 years.)

    Yes, Don - my fault for not looking at my CCW Card. (And) Keeping track (after 6 years,) of my expiration date.

    I was told that I would be notified prior to expiration as well. (Asked about it specifically, at DMV's about three times.) Was told each time, "Yes, we will notify you prior to expiration."


    Apparently not.

    Sometimes notifications are lost in the mail.
    Florida mails you the form with renewal instructions, but I still keep the date loaded in my phone calendar.

    Thanks Mark. That is what I (apparently) need to do. Load it in to my phone Calendar. Good advice.
