Subway Fans?

Spicy Italian, 9 grain Oat, shredded cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers, green peppers, red onions, a load of jalapenos, Parmesian, oregano. ((Dry, as it is going to work tomorrow.) Side of oil and vinegar.

Meatball marinara, 9 grain Oat, melted Mozzarella, spinach, tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, a load of jalapenos, Parmesian, oregano. (For dinner tonight.)

Was headed in to the Chinese buffet, but saw the sign for $4.99 footlongs. Been kind of craving a good sandwich anyway.

Anyone?

    Had a fabulous bahn mi yesterday. A good Vietnamese "hoagie" tops any fast food bread bomb.

    Back when my parents were still alive we used to go to town at least once a week and usually ate at the local Subway. Now that the parents are gone, I seldom go to town anymore.

    The other day my wife went to the grocery and brought home some BLT's from Subway for supper. The bacon was horrible, most of it was totally raw. They wound up in the trash. We vowed to never darken their doorstep again.

    Really sad, they used to have good food. [:(]

    A muffaletta is whole 'nuther pot of pilchards, my friend. The original, from Central Grocery, is of course the best. But that takes them into a different sandwich universe because they're simply not available anywhere else.

    I will eat them on occasion but have had a very hard time accepting the fact that their cold cuts contain turkey and or chicken. My taste buds can detect this and were weaned on beef & pork.

    I mostly enjoy making my own subs at home using select meats from various deli's around town. No mixed turkey or chicken! There is a bakery that makes very fine tasting sub buns daily of various types. They do not call them sub buns. French bread or baguette types with some density to them. The best sub starts with the best bread!

    I have to admit that I could exist on a good sandwich without any complaints![:p]

    Any one remember Blimpie? I think they were the 1st place I had a Sub Sandwich.

    All the Subways around here are owned by Indians and they put the ingredients on the sandwich like they were taking them out of their mothers mouth.

    I go to Jersey Mikes or Fire House when in town.

    Yes, I miss NY/NJ deli's. (And Diners.) Pretty much the only thing from up there I do miss. Good sandwiches, with artesian bread, not the crap served everywhere else.

    Used to get a good Philly Cheese/Steak almost every week. I knew all the good delis around, and shopped accordingly. Miss it.

    I do not take Buddy into establishments that serve food. I do not need to be told, "Dogs not welcome." I try to utilize common sense in where I take my dog to.

    Their lower end sandwiches, (Cold Cut Combo etc.) Utilize Turkey/Chicken. Spicy Italian, and above grade sandwiches do not.

    Jimmy Johns is an Illinois Franchise.
    Jimmy John went to my high school and graduated a few years after me.
    His father owned a good size manufacturing company and made boatloads of cash.
    Anyone remember the K40 CB Antenna? That was his fathers.......$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$[;)][;)]

    YEP, my son was an "inspector" for the JJ franchise for a couple years. Traveled the USA on JJ's dime but soon burnt out on it. He said JJ was a decent fellow.
    I still like our Subway. Teriyaki chicken on wheat, onions, peppers, yak sauce, hot is a good meal for me.
    I want to try Firehouse and the like but nothing close.

    I can't eat subway. It is some of the worst fast food.

    The few times I have been in one I order whatever is the special and I have to tell them how to make every single part of it. Stupid business plan.

    I personally really like telling them exactly how I want it made, and exactly what I do, or do not want on it. A huge reason why I occasionally go there. I can get it made exactly how I want it made.

    Clearly you have not ate at a local place in Utah county called the Italian place, they have several locations from Pleasant Grove to Spanish Fork. They make the best hoagies... And they make a steak and cheese with or without everything that would knock your socks off

    I pulled up in front of a Jimmy John's in American fork Utah. I then called and placed an order and gave them their address...And then walked inside and sat down by the front windows waiting for it. I watched a delivery boy walk out to his car, sit there for a second, I assume he typed the address in his GPS, and then came back in and talked to the person behind the counter. Second later my phone rings, the person that was calling me was calling from Jimmy John's to confirm the address I gave them... I told him the address again, and he wrote it down and give it to you the delivery boy. The delivery boy went out and come back in a minute later, talked to the guy behind the counter and my phone rings again,Jimmy John's here, calling to tell you that you're giving us our address... What's the address of where you're at?... Now I was through playing with them so I told the guy on the phone to look over in the direction that I was sitting by the window and look for the guy waving his hand... that would be me...[:D]

    And yes, I did tip the delivery boy really good for the entertainment that he gave me...

    Haven't been to Subway since Jersey Mike's opened in town. Also not far away we have a Jason's Deli which I prefer to all others for soup and sandwich, and those free muffins.
    But there used to be a real deli a few miles away, a real one owned by a guy from New York who had his supplies shipped from the same venders as he did when he ran a deli in New York. It was the best. People went nuts over it when I bought sandwich trays for parties. I think his name was Paglia. Don't know where he went. One day he was gone, and a Sheets is in that location. It was at an Interstate exit, so it was very valuable property. I really miss that one.

    Northern delis/sandwich shops were killer. (Especially with their fresh daily delivered Artisan bread.) One of the things I truly miss about up North. (NY/NJ)

    A good Cheese Steak hoagie on good bread, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. Nirvana. I averaged about one a week.

    Speaking of locations, I'd bet dollars to donuts that there are about as many Subway shops as there are Dollar Stores! Maybe even more![:0]

    And......I live way out in the sticks. Where it is colder than a well drillers batoot in the winter time. The one near me, about 4 miles away is owned by dark skinned foreigners of unknown origins.[:0]

    Page 2 any nobody is talking about the garlic butter spread ?!?! I don?t go to subway often but their garlic bread sure has made their sandwich better. I know the owner of the local store pretty well and bought a tub of the garlic butter and man that will make one of the best shrimp scampi you have ever eaten !

    We have stopped eating out all together. The restaurants around here hire mostly drug heads, and the Hep A cases are crazy in this area. Restaurants are a very lucrative business. If they want my money, they will start paying better to get better workers. And start drug testing.

    Never heard of that, was unaware of that option. I wonder if it is regional. They certainly do not advertise it. (Nor) Have I ever seen it on their selections, or on the line.





    Mmmmnnnnn..............Shrimp Scampi, over linguini of course. Plenty of olive oil and parmesian.

    Yep, nothing like a steak and cheese sandwich (without the veggies), or a steak and everything with the veggies that you described from a true New York deli. The Italian place here in Utah county was started by a son of a New York deli shop owner to help put himmself through college at BYU in the 60s, and his sandwiches are from his roots of being the son of a true New York deli shop owner.

    Apparently he had borrowed the money from the New York mob to open the place (apparently his dad borrowed the money from the same mob members for his deli shop in New York), hence the name (the Italian place). Anyway we all know how college students care nothing about anything except for people of the opposite sex, partying and food. So a place took off like gangbusters (excuse the pun[:D])... Now we have four locations in Utah county so as long as I stay in Utah county, I'm never too far away from one.And if I decide to eat out at a fast food place, I tend to gravitate towards one of them.

    When I order a steak and cheese or a steak and everything from them I get double steak and double cheese and order it as a monster sandwich (14"long artisan Subway roll). With the double steak and double cheese and still only costs $12,with the stock double steak and double cheese, they jam pack the roll so full it's twice as thick as it started out to be. and then I have them cut it into thirds and only eat one third at a sitting, because that's how big they are... So if I eat there I have lunch or dinner when I dine there, plus I have two lunches to take to work with me... None of this miniscule beef substitute vegan food like Taco Bell tacos for me...[:D]
