That may be true, but "Arkansas," is not the Mountains of Western North Carolina, or Extreme North Eastern Tennessee. I'm at about 4000' elevation. It got down to 3* last night. Lowest last year was -14*.
My Kerosene heater is relegated to power outages, or if it gets down in to low single digit temperatures. It is not a readily used resource. It is very nice to have, in situations like yesterday when the power went out, or overnight when in the very low single digit temperatures.
Ken, have you thought about trying one of these? Not that kerosene is bad, but propane is a lot cheaper... These cost about $40 to buy and are safe to run inside. And of course the fuel is tons cheaper than kerosene.
The only reason I I suggest it is because it sounds like you kind of use your kerosene heater a lot. And in the long run this would save you a ton of money...Of course I'm sure there's cheaper places to buy them. But this was the first thing that came on

I actually very rarely fire up my Kerosene heater. I have been exploring (spoke with my Buddy yesterday about purchasing a stand alone Propane unit generating about 25,000 BTU's. Around $100, used/like new from him.) I have a wall mounted unit in my bedroom that I have never used.
