I have a question
What is the big deal about a "Self Driving" Car??
I just don't get it. I know I would never want one or even want to be a passenger in one.
What is the hype?
What are the advantages?
Now if there was some type of Highway that your car "Hooked" into and you could turn your motor off and put it in N, Kind of like a car wash only faster that would be kind of cool.
But a self driving car, I don't get it.
Help me out here...........

I'm curious how well they would do in severe weather conditions. We woke up to 9" of fresh snow this morning, would an autonomous vehicle be able to deal with that or would it just refuse to leave the driveway? Would/is there a way to override the autonomous mode so the driver could manually control the vehicle? 0 -
Excellent points however I disagree that YOU have never made an error in a vehicle.
You may not have caused or had an accident but sometimes I think drivers are better AFTER they find out they are not infallible (tried to spell it with one L to be "green" )

First let me begin by saying I do not need a self driving car.
However, there are people that can't wait to buy one when the technology improves.
The people I am speaking of are senior citizens incapable of driving due to age related problems, veterans with various battle wounds or amputees. People with partial or vision impairments, and the list includes the drunks and druggies..0 -
By the way 2 more things
1.) Already tech is being introduced on almost all newer vehicles that while not "self Driving" they do warn and allow features like intelligent cruise control. The process to convert you is already in play.
2.) I don't think any of you fossils
will be forced to purchase or use self driving cars, but the insurance will be ten times higher for those who don't use the tech which will encourage legions to get out of their older non compliant vehicles and move into the higher tech electric self drivers.0
