-4 here in NNY this morning and well on the way to the 12" of snow predicted.

We're supposed to get double digit below zero temps for the next two nights. The highs for today and tomorrow are supposed to be zero or below.

I remember those days. We once got 48" of snow, in a 24 hour period. On top of the 36" we already had on the ground. Loved it!

Greenwood Lake, NY/NJ. 1947 Chestnut log cabin, right on the line.

Down to 24*, horizontal snow currently.

It's 40? in Ogden right now. For us, that's an "Uh-oh" signal that a cold front is coming. And yup, there it is on radar, bulldozing its way down from the northwest, preparing to dump on us through Monday.

Those were our backpacking days. We'd be calling each other to find out what S. bag, we were bringing, confirming what stove/fuel source we were bringing, what lantern/light source, adult beverage etc. (I usually packed red wine (merlot) in a flexible/insulated Nalgene bota.

We had some seriously good times. Averaged around 50 overnighters a year, for 8 years running. 95% of us prior Military. Hike in at night by headlamp on snowshoes, coming in from different areas, meet up, party most of the night. Wake up at O dark thirty, hike out by headlamp/snowshoes, and go in to work.

People thought we were Crazy. We loved it. Miss those times, and those guys. 3 have died in the last couple years. [V]

Woke up this morning to 6? and -7? wind chill. Then dug my way out to the barn, got the tractor out and plowed snow for over 2 hours. Loved every minute of it. [:D]

For the last several years we only had about 4" total for the year.[:(]

    This is in western Ohio.

Just came in from letting the dog out to run, play in the snow.

Split a few rounds of 6-10" diameter dried Oak in the 30X40 metal outbuilding.

As usual, it seems to be a game to Buddy, to try and knock anything Dad is carrying out of my hands on tbe way to the front door.

    It's getting Sporty out.

Re-heating some KFC original recipe on a cast iron ridged griddle, on the woodstove. Get it nice and crispy, turning it several times.

Mashed Taters/Gravy, side of Cole slaw, a few bisquits with butter and homemade strawberry jam. Mmmmnnnn good.

It is 11 below zero here this morning in beautiful northern Michigan.

Let the dogs out for their AM constitutional's and had to put them on a timer. No more than 3 minutes. Hope they got'r'done but I'd rather clean up after them inside than have to deal with frozen paws!

Was 3 on the drive in to work, the 6" of snow we got has turned to 4' drifts. Office was 55 when I walked in. Would love a wood-stove here!

    Winter has finally arrived.

Woke up to 3* this AM. (Near Boone,NC.) Left the water dribbling for the 1st time this season. I scheduled the day off after I learned how cold it was supposed to be.

Do not need any frozen pipe issues, I do not feel comfortable leaving water dribbling however slight for the 11 hours I am away.

Woodstove going. Left the Kerosene heater on it lowest setting overnight. It is up to a balmy 7* now.

Glad I took the day off.
