    Used to be needles - not so much since cancer...

    Now it's being trapped in a hospital room unable to speak or move - fed through a tube with a tracheotomy in my neck while in abject pain

    Needles, and I need to have a torn rotator cuff surgery in the next two weeks. To make it even more fun, my veins are hard to hit, and my skin is thick(probably from being on the GB forums).

    ...not real fond of the thought of waking up during surgery. Ugh. (For some reason I?ve always needed higher doses of the anesthesia meds.)

    snakes. I was bitten by a copperhead when I was 10 in the arm still have the scars. The snake went thru the Hay Baler and wasn't happy when I grabbed that bale

    I don't mind needles, blood, gore, poo, heights, etc........the only thing that really freaks me out is MAGGOTS.

    UGH.....horrible!

    Belonephobia (fear of needles) is more common than you might think.

    When our daughter was 12, one of her teachers wanted to talk with us about getting her treatment for her phobia about dogs. Asked the teacher was she was aware that daughter was attacked by a dog at age 9? Hospitalized for 5 days, broken arm, stitches in eyelid, 15 stitches down her scalp?

    There is a difference between phobia (unreasoning fear) and being scared of something that damned near killed you.

    Have been 5,000 feet down in a mine, and 300 feet high on a bridge- never bothered me. Just lucky. But I do have a severe phobia of government employees that want to help me.

    Used to be a big deal, but have overcome most of. Still not a fan, but have found a way to coexist.

    Confined spaces. Plumbed for years , never a problem crawling under low houses until about 15 years ago when I had a panic attack . Now it is a no go for me even though my own house is a good 3 foot off the ground

    Heights.

    I don?t think it bothered me much until the second jump from a 30 (ft?) tower into one of my Uncle SAM?s pools that looked just a little like a postage stamp!

    I woke up during my surgery when they removed one foot of my large intestine. Most painful thing I've ever endured. I was screaming and they couldn't hear me.

    Have woke up just before they started, freaked the doc out when I started talking. It was when I was little and getting my Tonsils out.

    Heights are what gets me Flying is fine. But get me close to the edge of even a one story roof and I start to lose my Balance.

    I do have this phobia about being shot while out walking in the deer woods during hunting season. Even wearing bright orange hat and vest, I tend to move quick and seek cover behind trees. This may be from an incident that happened to me several years ago when two "sound shots" went zinging past my head from parts unknown.

    This has made tracking a nightmare for me and has nearly taken me out of the game.

    Needles have never bothered me and back in Basic training so many bit the dust in the needle line.

    I don't have any problems with needles after the twice a year bloodletting and the surgeries I've had.

    There is only one phobia I have that scares the HOLY CRAP out of me.

    Fear of being shot while walking in the woods during deer season is not unreasonable. My SIL left his truck on the side of the road while hunting, came back to find another hunter had mistaken the truck for a deer & put 2 rifled slugs through the cap. (At least, the offender waited for him at the check out station & confessed to the rangers.)

    I have agoraphobia (fear of crowds & confined spaces).

    My wife is like that. She flies a paraglider but won't get close to the edge of anything. I find that as I get older I'm the same with the paraglider and edges of stuff are ok, but being high up on something like a shaky ladder bothers me more than it used to.

    I woke up during an endoscopy/colonoscopy. Told the doc I would and he said no one does. I woke up with a tube jammed down my throat, and when I raised my arm the nurse pushed the plunger on the syringe attached to my IV and I went back out. Then woke up with a tube jammed up my ass. That time when they put me back out I didn't wake up until the recovery room. I'd be scared of having any real surgery for just that reason. I did tell the doc that at least I know he did the top end first.

    And I can watch blood draw or IV needles get inserted into my arm. I've had splinters bigger than that.

    Dog is scared of snakes, so if rattlesnakes aren't up by the house I leave them be.

    Worked as a repair plumber at one time, and when I worked underground I grouted the inside joints of reinforced concrete pipe a few times, so enclosed spaces aren't a big deal.
