How many of you had coon skin caps in the 50s ?

I'm 71. I think every boy around my age had a coon skin cap because of Davey Crocket on TV in the 50s.

So how many of you had skin caps??

    I remember Estes Kefauver (Senator from Tennessee) sporting one in 1956 when he was running for the Democratic nomination for President.

Lausche was the five time governor from Ohio & the gal on the stage didn't even know who he was when his name was put in nomination. He then became a Senator & was known as "Frank the fence" because he crossed party lines so often. That was when it was possible to be proud of being a Democrat.

    Never owned the coon cap and being born in '56, I remember my mom ironing on Davy Crockett patches to all of my older brothers sweat shirts.

    The iconic movie of the mid 50's later became a series on TV's Disney's Wonderful World of Color in the early 60's. That is where I was smitten by this legend.

    To this day I have been a Kentucky longrifle collector, builder, shooter, and hunter. The FLINTLOCK lives at my house![^]
