My Favorite Beer, Woe Is Me

[V] Learning new facts about what we think we know and when reality kicks us in the ass for not really looking!

Pabst beer has been my favored beverage since I was old enough to hold a glass. Come to find out, Pabst is just a name brand owned by a company that isn't even in the brewing business!! The company does not exist unless its competitor does all of the work of brewing their product for them![:0]

Now with their contract about to expire and a lawsuite that seems very one sided to me, I will have to do some brew testing to find a new favorite![:(!]

    Great to hear all the good\bad beer thoughts everyone!

    There is no need for anyone to find any sympathy for my plight.[:)]
    Last time I looked down the football length aisle of beer coolers at my local super market, there shouldn't be any shortages of brew until Hell freezes over![:p]

    Being an old dog, it can be somewhat more an issue of stubbornness being set in one's ways. What has bugged me most is the fact that I did not know or understand too much about the product I have been buying all of these years. This news came as quite an initial shock to me.

    As the shock is now wearing off, I see this as a golden, amber [:)] opportunity to expand my horizons. Along with taste experiments, I will also look deep into the new (to me) products manufacture.
    Not always an easy task these days. Even our milk and dairy products are secret coded, and who knows where they originate![:0]

    If and when I find a new favorite beer, I'll make sure I post my findings.

    Thanks hillbilly! I never exceed my capacity of 2 or 3 beers, and haven't had a beer buzz in over 30 years.

    It is the taste and flavor that I grew up with coming from a Germanic family background. My wife is kind of the same with wine as she is 3\4 Sicilian. I kind of thought I had converted her into liking my beer. But it hit me a long time ago that her other 1\4 background comes right out of Ireland![:0] She is also a RED HEAD![:0]

    Clear pale ales and pilsners - served cold...

    German or Czech or Austrian is best but there are a plethora of amazing affordable local options

    For Italian try peroni or morretti steamship blond ales or lagers - both sold here

    When I used to drink here in Oregon we had Beer beer. That is all they had on the Label Beer. They did have a riddle under the cap. For a drunk guy some could get very hard.

    I rarely drink lager or pilsner since I discovered wheat beer. I buy Leinie & Blue Moon when they're on sale.

    With a meal or just having a few I am addicted to the Oatmeal Stouts. Granite City Brewing and Summit Brewing in Minnesota are my favorites.

    But on a hot day when I want to chug some cheap beer PBR or Hamms is my go to.

    I went to college in downstate IL. We'd start out drinking Little Kings then switch to some swill called Rheinlander - it was about $4.00 a case back then. The Little Kings would kick in, we were doing chew and dip at the same time. I do seem to recall a few heads hanging out of the dorm windows when the beer, chew and dip kicked in.
