I guess I am too old to shop anymore
I had to go into the big city today with the Wife,,Ran through Academy Sports to pick up some small stuff. At the register, paying with cash, the little girl told me I had to key in my zip code in the machine,, I told her NO. I am paying cash,,she insisted and again I refused. so she turned it around and keyed in one, I paid,,she ASKED if I wanted a receipt,,I stated yes because I would like to get out the door. Again she turned the little machine toward me and said she needed my e-mail,, I asked to get a receipt for something I paid for,, again she said yes and again I refused.. I then told her Academy has NO right to my name, phone number,zip code or e-mail address, I PAID cash,, She called a Manager,,he asked me what my problem was,,I gave him the same spill they were getting zilch,, I did not by a firearm,,I did not buy ammo and they were not getting my information,, after muttering a few words he keyed into the little machine and gave me my receipt.. NEXT .. Wife wanted to go across the road to Sams Club,, they had no people checking out, NADA ZERO, self checkout only,, Little manager of some sort offered to HELP me check out,, I told her I'm not stupid,,I know how,, I am just not going too,, if they can not get me someone to check out my buggy they can just put it back on the shelf,, she muttered a few words and checked me out.. I AM JUST TOO OLD

I prefer self checkout at Home Depot or the grocery store. I never have more than a few items. There are no lines, I get through it faster than the people working there can do it. And don't have to talk to any one. Guess I'm getting old but managing to change with the times a little. But don't tick me off. I'll walk out. 0 -

I made the mistake of using the NEW Walmart shop on line for groceries.
The way it works is, you go through their line up of items in various departments and "Click" on the brand, size and quantity of the items you want.
Every item I ordered was shown in stock and available so I ordered, paid and selected an early pick-up time the next morning.
I was at the "special" loading area in my truck & on time the next morning and some air head ding bat walks out and asks me why I am parked there in the "special area".
Well it's early and no one has screwed up my day to this point to I politely tell her I'm there to pick up my on-line order and who I am.
Well, she mumbles something that sounded like broken Swahili into her radio and a couple of guys start rolling out carts with my order.
This is where thing start to go really sideways.
Item after item had been substituted because what I ordered was not available. I tried to explain that everything I ordered was shown as,"available" and why all the substitutions. You would have thought I
asked for the launch code for every ICBM missile we have in our arsenal.
I sent a lot of items back and kept a few of the substitutions but I will never order on line again and let Walmart Corp know what a fluster clucking mess I experienced and I'll never do on-line shopping again.0 -
they started this drive up shopping just before I retired from Krogers, I know in the begining they were telling all the folks picking orders to not get dented cans, or bruised fruit/vegetables, but as cheap a company as they are it won't be long till they are telling the folks to give them the dented and bruised to get rid of it, hoping you won't bring it back, and you all can flame me if you want, but I can't believe folks don't have the time to shop, some things in life you have to MAKE time to do if you want it done right, I think it is just lazy 0 -

I wouldn't call it flaming you to say I don't give a rats ass what you think. Did it ever occur to you that some here are not able (for what ever reason) to shop without assistance. Be it from COPD or other debilitating malady. Some need assistance. That was my only reason for trying on-line shopping was that I hate asking anyone for help.0 -

You can select NO SUBSTITUTION on the check out screen. Although I will admit you have to watch for it. If you don't check no subs their default is-- you guessed it--allow subs.0 -
It's like Christmas, right? Hoping to get what you wanted and get a box of wth? Anyone else remember Web Van? Ahead of their time. Now everyone wants to do what amazon does.
Virtual shopper/helper can't get here fast enough for some folks.0 -

I suppose it all boils down to the individual Super Center and the manager of a particular store.
After the mess I found myself in, I googled reviews for "On line shopping" and the reviews were mixed. Some were like yours,(Great) and some were like mine(not so great).
Some stores seem to do their best for the customer & some seem to have a chip on their shoulder for what ever reason.

Hate the sself checkout crap . I refuse to use them 99% of the time . Last week however I went to Wally world local grocery store for a few items .at checkout time there was one register open staffed by a 90 year d grandmother. The customer ahead of me had two carts filled to overflowing .i had to make a choice , stand in line for 20 or thirty minutes to have a real person wait on me or give up and do the self thing wimped out and self checked but man I hate that crap 0 -

being one of them geek types, I cheerfully give out email addresses. Of course, I run my own mail server, and if/when I get too much mail from one place and they don't honor unsubscribe clicks, I look up the CEO's publicly listed email and set up a few forwarding rules.
Only had to do it once to Midway ... due to shenanigans pulled during the Great Ammo Shortage of Obama II: The Electric Boogie I canceled my account w/ them and unsubscribed from sales notices.. but the emails kept coming. Hope Larry is enjoying his extra copies of the spam his company sends out.0
