I need to cancel this bid. I had placed a bid on a rifle that I lost the auction on. The buyer of that rifle couldn't pay and the rifle was relisted. The seller has agreed to award the rifle to me. That is the rifle I want. Thank you in advance.
Me....I sent Customer Support a request.....I cannot end or alter anything myself, so I would wait to buy that other rifle until you see if they get to taking your bid off. If they remove it before the auction ends there will not be a problem, but if you win the gun it is something I cannot undo.

Either way I'm not purchasing this rifle. I can send you the money to relist but I'm not buying it. Thanks again.
Me.....That is not how this works......just like if you win an item and someone refuses to sell it for your bid is wrong, bidding and not completing a transaction is wrong. I will forward your message over to Gun Broker so they can explain the rules to you if you need clarification. Auctions may not be for you if you do not understand that bidding on an item is not something you can just "undo" and make the rules up yourself as you go.

From GB help page:
"If there is a purchase you are unable to complete, you may offer to reimburse the seller for the fees incurred for the sale and relist, otherwise the seller will need to complete the credit request process."
You may want to rethink your hardline stance.

GB also in their help section posted this to people who cannot follow through with the purchase.
A bid or purchase on GunBroker.com is considered a binding agreement/contract; therefore, it cannot be retracted or canceled unless there are exceptional circumstances. All bidding is a binding obligation to complete a transaction. You should not place a bid if you are not able to complete the transaction. If there is a purchase you are unable to complete, you may offer to reimburse the seller for the fees incurred for the sale and relist, otherwise the seller will need to complete the credit request process.
Please note the legal terminology of "considered". It isn't a legal binding contract, because GB is not an auction house. But because the platform is based on an auction format, it is considered binding. If for some reason you cannot complete the transaction, GB even addresses that, with the above offering of paying the fees. If you do it alot, they have to option to ban you.
At an absolute auction, like you are deriving your rules from, you can still walk out after bidding and not pay. They will keep your deposit or use that to pay your winning bid. Then they may never let you bid again.

Wow. Every time I have bid, it's with the understanding that if I win, I have to pay. That's called "integrity"...apparently some folks don't have much of it.
I have bid on things that I wasn't all fired up about winning, but my low ball bid won so I sent my payment and bought my items.
To think that someone won an auction and then found a better deal so, "Kings X, I ain't gonna pay" is pathetic. Even with the hollow offer of reimbursing relisting fees.
This is the same loser mentality that people had when they took out ridiculous "liar loans" and bought houses on adjustable mortgages that reset at higher rates...so they walked away from the house leaving the bank to deal with it.

GunBroker has LONG taken the stance of "you bid, you pay". Period end of story.
Paying GB fees does not make the seller "whole", she is out 5 days. Plus the time it took to list the auction.
Letting buyers off the hook because they went and bid on second auction while they are high bidder on another auction just let's them continue to be pain in the a$$es in the future.

Another thing we might be forgetting here is that if I'm the feller that consigned the rifle to Kasey to sell and Mr. Idiot does not pay his $1000 bid and reimburses Kasey her fees and the resale only brings $500 then I am PO'd and feel like maybe someone owes me $500. 0 -

The days of personal integrity have been seriously diminished these last decades.
Backing out of an auction simply shows a person has a low moral standard. Not all that surprising these days. Me and money seems to always trump your needs, and integrity be damned.
