Poofed threads and member departures thoughts

P3Skyking is absent right now - and while a cooling off period (self imposed or MOD enforced) may be beneficial I honestly want him to return and to participate.

Time off to smell the roses or reevaluate things or focus on family is healthy - though most of us go into withdrawal if we miss a single day.

For what it's worth I consider this community at large to be my friends and peers and family and mentors - including for the most part those who hate me or are not in my fan club.

Our mods are good people and do a good job.

I truly care about most of you individuals and as the group as a whole

I review the list of members who have died and see the names of those who don't come around anymore and I feel the loss - it hurts. We are a dynamic group and our membership and demographic is ever changing.

One of my favorite members of all time who taught me so much and engaged me in amazing conversations on cartridges history and development has stayed away for a long time - and I don't know what happened or why - but I miss teak.

As far as P3 goes...

I ultimately don't want him gone - as on the balance I think his impact or footprint here has been positive...

There have been some vitriolic hateful waste of space trolls whom we are better of without...

I did try to tell him that he was smarter and better than the name calling and somewhat shallow and pedantic attacks he was posting about mods specifically Montana Joe

I think he was upset that his retro adult swingers party / key party - alcohol fueled swapping romp cartoon thread for poofed - and his immediate "who poofed my post" rant also got yanked

To be fair and objective I don't think his original threads content or what he posted crossed the line or caught the mods attention - but was doomed by what some responses contained

And again to be fair I have tried to think of him as family or a peer or one of the guys at the bar even though he pretty much hated me

His attacks on my having cancer or lying about my circumstances and claims that I was not a firearms expert but just stealing data from other forums and formats were hurtful - did bother me some

But when that happened a bunch of you defended me including Remington Oaks and great guns and 84bravo and ricci and dcon and locust fork and a dozen others that I let it go

Those threads got pretty ugly and got poofed

But I still maintain that most of us are peers and associates and friends and like a family - and I don't want any of you gone or over censored

There are a small dedicated group here who friggin hate me - some of whom behaved so badly they got locked

The mods do a good job here - I have been a MOD on other sights with many of them and respect them

Hope that this made some sense or that you guys can understand my point of view or philosophy - if not please let me know.

I am genuinely interested in your opinion - I solicit your feedback and comments - and am not looking to tear anyone down.

Please if you will have a fireside chat with me about the subject.

    His personal attacks and remarks about my cancer and my circumstances and the girls and plagiarism happened over 6 month ago and as I stated a surprisingly high number of members came to my immediate defence including several who I think are not fans of mine

    And the threads were removed so I assume MOD and admin found those attacks on me distasteful

    He did call out and piss on Joe multiple times in multiple threads this last time - and had a few unkind words for Mark Christian.

    I missed some of what followed before things were removed

    I don't expect someone's dislike of me to get them officially censored or locked - but I remember the names of every member who took umbridge or cried foul - or performed a smack down

    It meant alot to me

    Plus he liked to refer to me as Mark's fan boy or toady for some reason

    Again I don't mind much now if someone dislikes me - I can be a pain in the ash and rub people the wrong way

    But what occurred yesterday was like a road rage incident or as if someone was off their meds or had an episode of some sort

    I hope it was only forum stress or online armchair rage and that their is not a serious deeper issue or health scare going on - I wish that on nobody.

    Any decent person would never attack somebody when they're sick, especially as sick as you were 6 months ago.

    Had he lived closer to me, I would have went over there and tore his face off and made him eat it for the things that he said to you...

    The problem is, somebody like P3 will never learn. That's why I liken him to the town idiot think he's a genius. He's not necessarily stupid, but certainly not as smart as what he thinks he is. Which makes for a person that will never learn anything...

    Remington Oaks as I referenced above I remember the name of those who came to my defense - and you are high on that list...

    I had just spent 12 days in the hospital including 5 in the ICU and had just been informed about the inoperable top of the brain stem walnut sized sub arachnoid malignant carcinoma

    He is one crazy SOB but I like him. He may have read too much Nietzsche and been kind of heartless but he was part of the crowd here.

    I miss all the crazy characters who were on here.

    If it wasn't for ECC I would not have joined. I just couldn't believe he was a real moderator on a gunforum[:D]

    I wonder how he and his crazy family are doing? Anyone keep up with him?

    I look at this differently. I find many of his posts interesting. As such I almost always click on his posts. If I don't like what he, or anyone else has posted, I just go back and checkout someone else's post. No problem. I would miss Skyking as I find him interesting.

    You guys have an amazing memory for things, salute you all.

    I have learned in my 60 years on this globe that except for God, Family, guns, friends and cherishing life itself there ain't much to fuss over.

    On occasion it is fun to have a bit of a row over the choices of olive oil and vinegar, garlic Parmesan or French dressing on what type of salad.

    The fact the 45ACP is best and the 9MM a distant lost cause has been well established here.

    It is a awesome forum because of y'all, it is my favorite and a strong reason I use GunBroker for all of my buying and selling of guns and gun things.

    Look, P3 is taking some time off because of this type of behavior. He was arrogant to the extreme, but also threatened violence on far too many occasions--a true keyboard commando. No way to back it up, either.

    I think we don't need to do the "Idadun" thing here. It's so easy to talk big and puff out our chests on line. But in real life we won't kick each other's butts, nor will we shoot each other's dogs, or even rip a serial killer's lungs out through his/her nose.

    As I said we are like a family - we don't always get along.

    His military posts in particular drew my interest.

    Yes he was polarizing and opinionated and full of himself...

    Still don't want someone whom I have casually interacted with for decades to go away.

    And many of us are or act like armchair commandos from the lofty removed safe zone of our devices.

    I have been guilty of it - most of us have.

    And again apropos of nothing when I was the victim of a prolonged nasty campaign of hate - it was nice to have some of you stand up for me or defend me - it was informative and eye opening as even a few here who rabidly dislike me cried foul.

    I would have a beer with him - lunch and a gun show would be nice - but I will not hold my breath waiting for an invite.

    But maybe we are not better than him or his bad behavior as this thread now has vitriolic exchanges of hate and grade school name calling - flinging poo might be next.

    I would like to ask a favor of you, and that is to lay of the "v" word.

    I am constantly reminded of the young lady who had acid thrown in her face and is disfigured for life from that, and making a political term out of her pain doesn't sit well with me.

    I mean really, words are like acid? No acid is like acid. The libs started this hate speech and it don't look good on people with a conscience or brain.

    Biker Bob and oakie did so - and twice members have popped up at the hospital unannounced.
