Here, we are surrounded by a plethora of backyard chicken farmers. Did it myself for a couple of years but found it much more economical to just buy the eggs.

On average, chicken eggs from these neighbors run around 3 dollars a dozen. Duck eggs go for around 4 bucks.

Once in a while someone will have an over-abundance that need to sell ASAP and they advertise special cheap prices on local FB page.

Speaking from some one who's wife has had chickens at least 40 years plus as pets and were now down to the last dozen or so including a turkey a goose and guineas

we will not replace when them when gone and their aĺ old anf just extra work and feed bill now

Some years ago we use to give away many dozens of eggs a week.

We had 30 or 40 chickens And roosters ,also dozen ducks or so

it was too much trouble to try and sell the eggs and we even burned out friends and family out on eggs but feed was some what cheap also back then

We use to just boil up dozens at a time, mash them up shell included feed them back to the birds

Honest its Cheaper to just buy eggs

I am Not sure of local prices, i know its not six dollars a dozen

but we have been buying some for the first time in years

but we only go thru a dozen or so a week

The chicken farmers a getting very little of that as usual. If they get any extra, it will be short lived and the price at the retailer will be lucky if it ever comes down much.

Still in the $5 range in our area. We just have 8 chickens now and get more than enough eggs.

We have 11 hens that lay 8-10 eggs per day. A $11 bag of feed lasts about 2 weeks. The eggs are big and taste better than store bought. There are other minor expenses, but still...

Have 4 hens currently laying and 17 others in the pipeline .be about two more months before they are producing

Neighbors used to help us out with eggs. But the Hawks and foxes are keeping that out now.

Wally world is $ 5.60 per 18 (that a weeks worth for us)

    Farmers market is about $ 4.00 for 12 .That's every 2 weeks.

Eggs and bacon are crazy expensive... We try to by local eggs when we can. Would like to get chickens again but the hawks hunt in our garden for rodents and doves and out at the ranch we have an eagles nest and a red shoulder nest.… Some day. It's getting to the place where if you can you should be as self sufficient as you can.

Stopped by Lucky on my way home yesterday and they had 18 count eggs at $6.99 with in store coupon of $3.00 the carton was stamped 5/11/24. Good enough for egg salad or pickled eggs.

We're at $1.89 to $2.29 a dozen except when the local mini market has them for $.99.

I don't have a 'hood' and the eggs come from yard bird hens about 4 miles away. I think we're giving the folks $1.50-2.00/dozen. He'd like to give them to us but I pay him something to cover feed costs.

Just seen egg prices in passing. Didn't stop because I couldn't afford them at a buck an egg. Okay they were only $9 a dozen. But damn!!! That's like a pack of smokes prices. Just resently seen the prices for them, too. Like Chris Rock once said how he needs a loan for a bullet might apply to eggs.

Current egg production from my flock is running an average of 10 to 12 a day per week . Still have a few hens not producing. Now supplying my extended family with eggs

Major producers are being forced to kill millions of birds because of bird flu. That's the major input to egg prices. And chicken meat.

I saw a little video explaining the spike in prices….they are saying it is because of bird flu. They have to destroy the entire flock if any bird tests positive for it, so there are MILLIONS of birds being killed by the big producers. They said it takes 20 weeks to replace an egg laying bird with a new one, so there is a squeeze on production numbers.

My crazy keto diet has me living off of eggs mostly because they are quick and easy. I have no clue what the prices are because I am a zombie when it comes to shopping….I just wander in whatever store I might pass when I need something, grab what I need and get out asap.

We were getting are egg from son in law and granddaughter, but the raccoons killed off a bunch this summer and some just stopped laying. Good news is, they have got more chickens now and we are getting are eggs again from them. To tell the truth, I’m not sure what the price of eggs are now in the stores. When I go to the store I get what we need including eggs and I don’t really pay attention to the prices.
What I like about eggs we get from the kids the yokes are more orangish and yellow with big yokes than what’s in the stores, they just seem to taste better.

Currently getting 3-4 eggs a day from our 4 hens, we give friends some every week at least a dozen or 18 pack each week given away.

Eggs were over 6 dollars a dozen at Grocery Outlet. I left them knowing my dad would come up with some from where we get hay. (I hope)

Last week.......my wife and I had breakfast at IHOP.

The one extra egg, that I added to my 55plus rise'n shine special, cost $1.39. But......that was like.....free.....compared to another item. Seems that if I ordered an extra slice of sourdough toast......it would have added, with tax, $4.10 to the bill.

    $4.10.…….for a single fricken slice of bread!!!!!!????😱

No wonder that many are now dining.......…at HOME!!!😖

I think just over five dollars a dozen last I looked

We have had chickens for years for many of thoes we gave away eggs to any one wanting them even boiled them and crushed and given back to the chickens

now the few chickens still with us are left are too old .

So we started buying eggs again

But Just the wife and I she uses them inalot of recipes and we eat a few

JMHO But Still cheaper than feeding and taking care of the birds

Cracked corn and layer crumbles cost have went crazy . When we started keeping chickens 40 some years ago feed was dirt cheap, and my the wife liked having them more for pets. All had names LOL we never ate any of the chickens I think at one time we had between 35 and 40 maybe more total counting the ducks and assorted other poultry
