Contac, I never said anything should be banned, nor did I even hint that there should not be a reloading forum. READ MY DAMN POST!!! I want one too!!!
You just put more bs in my mouth than I can stomach, and then you suggest that I'm a liberal from SF?!?! CF, you obviously don't know me from Adam; however, I just learned volumes about your character and your intelligence. I will strive to not lower myself to either.

fishermanben,
admin did not ask us to cease and desist. Should reloading posts be in Ask the Experts, or General Discussion.. why not put them in all one forum? If admin doesnt want to change the name to reloading, thats fine, but the moderator of the paintball forum obviously doesnt mind all these reloading posts, because theyre still here.0 -
Well if you want a forum so bad then help us instead of sitting there being negative.
Listen Ben, save the drama for the GD Forum. If you want to post something on reloading, feel free but save the BS.0 -
okay, no more fighting, reloading posts only. We need to self moderate for now.
Seriously, lets not argue, if you want to argue, email eachother.

I vote for the guy that is the most humble and has the thickest skin. Now let's all go to the "General Forum" and watch who argues that he is the best at being humble and has the thickest skin.[:D]
There seems to be a need for moderator on the general forum and I would guess on the political forum. If we all just agree that we will not respond to any thing but reloading questions and discussion on this forum it might be a plaza with not need for a constable. Just a place where guys with a common interest and mutual respect hang out to discuss something that they have a passion for or want to learn more about.

Two or more moderators? Well, I guess...OK?
But from what I'm starting to see, we really need
a split(two or three)forums........Give it a month
and this one should be called....BENCHREST CENTRAL.
Too much technobabble for me, but then my interests
are only in hunting loads and simple reloading.
Another area of interest is in working with WILDCATS.
This topic could make a forum too.
This post is not intended to insult anyone or to
say your benchrest hobby is unworthy....it's just you
guys get too deeply into stuff that does not mean a
hill of beans to a HUNTER. And please, no rebukes
from varmint hunters who want to pop praire dogs at
10,000 meters!0 -

accuracy helps everyone. The more accurate your round is at 100 yards, the more accurate it will be at 300, etc, I wouldnt mind taking a deer, confidently, at over 300 yards.
And there are not enough members on GB to split the reloading forum into more than one.

I guess I will nominate myself. I have been reloading for 10 years now.
Still have a lot to learn like everyone else.
Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it state: "Seperation of Church and State".
"Those who beat their guns into plow shares; will plow for those who don't."

"Isaiah 5:20 ?Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"0 -
Come on guys,
I was only implying what we all know...hunting
guns are nowhere near as accurate as your Bench
guns. It is possible to make ammo better than a gun
can shoot. It is also easy to make ammo and gun combos
that shoot better than the rifleman.
You benchrest guys do those little things which make better ammo
as measured in the fractions of an inch. I don't
think my hunting '06 would be able to tell the difference
while we are deer hunting.
That's all I meant, and yes since I shoot only enough
to remain a good shot for HUNTING, you guys would probably
outshoot me with any firearm....I'll concede that! I had
no intention of insulting anyone!0 -

Just a FYI. I don't shoot benchrest, ALL my rifle reloading is for hunting BUT I refuse to accept more than 1MOA from a factory rifle (OK, I'll accept 2MOA from a iron sighted 30-30 "swamp gun") or more than 1/2MOA from a custom piece (I've also shot out a couple of 30-06 barrels).
That's why I use BR loading tricks with my hunting ammo, because I refuse to accept less than the best I can do (and excuses don't cut it when your shooting hair at long range).
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -

Tailgunner.....I guess my point of view comes from
the fact I've never shot any game over 90-100 yards.
And simply figured a 1/4" difference didn't matter?
Now I don't take "running" shots...and I don't
shoot at anything beyond 100 yards. Where I hunt
you can't really see anything well past that range anyway!
And I do want to know what I'm shooting at!
I suppose out west and some places here in the east longer shots
are the norm. I've always considered the sport HUNTING, not
long range shooting. Finn Aagaard believed a good hunter stalked
his game to within 100 yards. I just took him seriously.
I'm not going to take anyone to task for the way they load or
the way they hunt. This is America and to each his own. All I would ask is that you keep safety first!0 -
No problem DK, I prefer closer shots also. Where I hunt/shoot crop damage is mainly over open hay fields (40-160acre fields), and the deer don't come out to feed until the last 15 minutes of shooting light. Kind of hard to cover the whole field and get within 100yd in 10 minutes without cover.
Different enviroment + different conditions = different methiods.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I don't like to shoot at them UNTIL they are 300yds away,..just my preference.
10X the number of shots on game at LR are spent on paper and run over a chronograph, then input into balistics programs to develope drop charts. The LR hunting issue will never be put to bed, as too many just don't practice at those ranges,..therefore don't take shots at those ranges, and therefore do not condone or often will condemn those of us who do. We do need the extra BR tricks because we are fighting multitudes more variables as range increases than the guys hunting at 100yds. As Tailgunner said,..different instances= different tactics.
for 100yd hunting loads,..pick a powder and a bullet, prime cases and load until one recipe outshoots the rest. Then load em all up like that and go hunting.
I don't know wether splitting this out to BR forums, Wildcatting forums, and hunting reloading forums would make a wise choice as that makes for a lot of new forums for no real reason.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

A couple of ppl very kindly suggested my name. I doubt I'm in serious consideration, but if I am, may I ask that you give your attention to some others amongst us? I have enough on my hands with my auctions, home life and moderating the Wanted forum. This would be more fun than the latter, but that one needed attention and I volunteered.
I expect to visit the new forum a *lot.* I have some qualifications, but I honestly do not think I'm more knowledgeable than many, perhaps most, of the folks here. I just did a lot with some very unusual loadings - mostly obsolete items - as an ancillary activity to my cartridge collecting. Throw me a question on some WSSM and _____________ is all you will get.
OK, for my $0.02 I would suggest JustC, GHD and ruger270man. The first two because their posts over the years have demonstrated they know what they are talking about. R270 because he has demonstrated he really *cares* about making this work - which is worth any amount of experience / knowledge. One name I've been really surprised not to have seen mentioned mrmike . . . guys, *Mike works with a big time custom loading shop!* He has more than a faint clue on much of this stuff.

JustC....you did very well describing my reloading for
100 yard hunting! That's pretty much what I do! Can't
see where much else is required.
I can see how some of you longer range guys need all the
precision you can get, especially when you only get to hunt for 15 minutes!
Please remember....safety first!0
