Hey All - - - I'm new to web site, but thought I'd jump in on this one, as a Viet Nam Vet. I did boot camp @ Great Lakes, Illinois in Dec. of 1967 (Frozen Loogies on the grinder) - BE/E School (Basic Electricity & Electronics) @ Great Lakes (still cold), RM"A" school @ Bainbridge, Md. in the spring of 1968. Two years @ NavRadSta Ft. Allen, Puerto Rico (Ponce) (What torture) - Counted as sea duty back then.........From there, reality hit me right between the eyes - River Duty with River Division 54 (RivDiv54) on the upper reaches of the Mekong - Patrolled 15 klik's of river from Cambodian Border & southward....Damn glad to make it back home in one piece!!! 3 -
Welcome home brother.

Ft. Knox 7/62 to 9/62, F-8-3. Loved my Garand, and all of the ranges - known distance, trainfire, quickfire, live-fire infiltration (heavily supervised so no one with a loaded Garand lagged behind), and especially the transition range - firing from steep rooftops and such made you get inventive [:D]. Wonder what rifle training is like today...
Loved the Platoon Sergeants. Especially when we just got our mess trays filled, and one of them would bark "You've got 30 seconds to eat and fall in!"[}:)][8][:D]0 -

Two of the things that I never did to my recruits was rush their meals or cut in to their sleep time. As a matter of fact I was always attmepting to get seconds on the food for them. 0 -
