Ft. Bliss, July 19-Sept 22 1967, hot sand hotter asphalt! What ever happened to the BB Guns we used in Quick Kill training? Sure would love to have one today. From Ft. Bliss to Ft. Sam, San Antonio Basic Medic, Corpman served Korea Feb 1968/69 0 -

Ft. Jackson, SC, Feb-April, 1961. Two years ago I went onto Ft. Jackson and could find nothing familiar. The water tank on Tank Hill, which was the destination for morning runs, was gone! Finally an MP directed me to the post museum, where I saw the only items on the post that looked familiar. Our old style quarter ton Jeep was there, along with the clapboard barracks, fitted out inside as I remember, butt cans and all. It brought back memories of hacking up black matter in the morning from the old coal furnace that heated those places. Fire watch war REAL, as the barracks were fire traps. Sand blew 24 hrs. a day and made keeping the M1 Rifle clean a full time job. Made me feel very old, indeed!

Amarillo Air Force Base Oct. 1968
I left Amarillo in the middle of October in 68, on my way to Chanute.
By that time, Amarillo was a ghosttown, and I remember all the old run down WWII fire trap barracks.0 -

Itcdoty:
I believe that I was in the next to the last flight to go through the base. Things were pretty much shut down.
We didn't have many obstacles in the obstacles course.
TI's getting shipped out and their replacements leaving in a short time, so things were haphazard to say the least.

USNTC Bainbridge, Maryland, Co 69, January 1952, cold as hell. Saw my first UFO from the drill field at 0400 on a cold March morning as I walked to the chow hall for service week. The UFO was maneuvering over the Aberdeen Proving Ground. I flew as crewmember for over 20 years and never saw another UFO. Retired out of the Mekong Delta in March 1972. 0 -
US Navy Training Center San Diego, 1971. Sometime in July-August I think. Would have to check. Then directly to Damage Control A School, US Naval Station Treasure Island in San Francisco CA. Then to my ship. 0 -
