When I was a kid, I wanted to be Bucky Dent. That sealed it for me.
In 1979 I was on an assignment for Forbes (photog, Arthur Jones inventor of Nautilus) and we were all taken out to lunch. So I ask the guy across from me what he does for a living.
He says he plays baseball.
So I asked for who and he says the Yankees.
I asked what position he played he said shortstop.
It was then I noticed the World Series ring on his finger and I said "I coach my 6 year old's T-ball team."
True story. I did not follow any sorts then so had no idea who Bucky Dent was. He was very gracious never slapped me, punched me, called me an idiot ya'no all those things I would have done if I were him😂
BTW Arthur Jones was a dive bomber pilot at the Battle of the Coral Sea off the USS Lexington. That was far more impressive in my mind
