I was born and raised in NYC. {dob 1956} I saw and lived thru the "laws" and BS of 1968 GCA.
I jumped thru the many hoops to just to shoot in rifle and pistol competitions.
I own land {read that as paying big taxes} and used to hunt in the beautiful upstate area near Hancock.
Finally about 18 years ago, I had get get away from the ratrace- the rats were just getting faster.
So I moved to the free state of Tenn. Love it.
I didn't bring my "ideas" of the north with me. NYC is NOT NY State, but upstate has died from the blood poisoning gangrene from the city below it.
If you live in a free state, don't bash New Yorkers, the ones on this forum, and many others, Have just succumbed to a fate that is YOURS next. You must act now to stop it, or you {us} will be the last generation of gun owners in America.

I did the same thing 8 years ago and wish I had done it 25 years ago.

They (the residents of NY) are the only ones whom can fix it. They forget that their representatives work for them, not the other way around. But they have to stand together and make them make the changes. A 7 round magazines makes no real sense, where they came up with that one.

Sadly, I believe the majority of NY residents want the law. They live in a liberal controlled news media and do not know any better.

More like the majority of NY CITY residents but they're the state majority as well. Upstaters have no voting power against them. [:(!]

That what's fearful for us all. That's the scary part. Too many Sheeple. I hope more of us can stand up against what may come. NY doesn't surprise me though.[V][V][xx(][xx(]
It is sad, Up-state NY is excellent hunting country. I was stationed there in the early 80's. Lots of deer, bear, grouse, rabbits, squirrel and fishing was great also. That would problaby be next for the NYer's.

I guess its ok to kill seven school kids but ten is way to many, is that it gov? What a crock of poop.
I have hated this state for a long time, nyc is the rotten apple that is spoiling an otherwise nice state in which to live (upstate).
As a long time law abiding citizen now soon to become a felon, I am sick to my core. I now have a chain saw at the side of my bed for protection, no wait! are they still legal? maybe the short bars will be legal.
I removed the flag from the front of my house, so many have given everything to keep us free, now was all that in vane? I am not sure which way to go at the present :(

While Up-state NY is very beautiful country. NY city is a filthy, nasty place. I've been there once, and that was too much. If you look up, your fine. But look down at the street level, filthy, nasty, cramped!!! And the people of NY, No thanks!!! Not good people in general, my one visit.

This country is history. There is no way common sense can prevail now, or ever in the future. They cheat, lie and use tactics most of us do not.

I knew when he got in for a 2nd term would be bad. I just failed to realize how fast.

maybe, maybe not; but this specific situation isnt really the point. this is just a test. personally, i think they went to far and the upcoming lawsuits and what not will strike this down.

the bottom line is that their goal of outright banning guns is coming along nicely. it took about 80 years for england to do it. we're at about 80, but we have a radically different form of government so its going to take a little longer. im thinking a hundred years from the passage of the NFA(the first big blow to the second amendment).

they dont have far to go and the political mindset of the majority of the country is leaning towards them getting it done. the people want something done about evil black rifles and magazines the hold 30 rounds. aw's will be next to fall. then or possibly concurrent with it will be high caps. from there, who knows but there is no doubt in my mind that if our current form of government still exists in another 20 years(and thats a big if), the personal ownership of firearms will be reduced to nearly meaningless(england) or totally and completely banned(jews germany 1930's etc).

I'd think there's going to be an awful lot of Legal action if this craziness passes the Assembly today.

It's a shame, NY is such a beautiful state once you get away from the City, with so much good hunting available. You could fit all of the National Parks combined inside of our Adirondack Park. An unspoiled wilderness area. The Catskills have terrific Deer, Turkey and Bear hunting as well.

Did they even think about what they were legislating? Are bolt action 22's now illegal because they hold 10 in the mag?
It's crazy, I learned to shoot using a 22 rifle as a kid, and now it's going to be classified as an "assault weapon"?

What a lot of stupidity this is!

After the house votes on it today I sure hope someone here posts a list showing how each and every elected official voted.

We need this list so we know how to vote in the upcoming elections to oust them.

This is one of the reasons I moved out here from PA. PA is next in line to pull something like this, when there you can smell the stink in the air with all the libs moving in. PA is controlled by, Scranton, Harrisburg, Allentown and Pittsburgh and are all full of libs. May not happen this term but it's comming, as the libs move in from NY, NJ and MD PA is changing. Being in MT is so refreshing, so nice to be free again.

Montanajoe, trustme I don't want to change a thing about this place, well except maybe the wind [:D] All the snow from my backyard is on my back deck now after that wind last night!

I live in NY and this BS. But I dont know if this is the right wording but some people are over reacting only as far as what this does and mean. No 3 guns doesnt mean you are felon, no 10/22 will not be banned, and no lever action doesnt count.

3/4 of the legislation contains stiffer penalties on crimes comitted as well as dealing with the mentally ill. The other true point I have heard is the mag restriction to 7. Now whether old ones are grand fathered in that is yet to be seem

Now these are rumors and have not see any truth yet

    - You may have to register your AW every five yeard and have one year to initially do so.
    - you can have old 10 rd mags, but can only load with 7, having more than 7 is a misdemeanor, having more than that is new or having 20-30rd is felony as it always has been
-The brand bushmaster might be banned
-lastly NY already has an AW ban the loop hole is you take the bayo lug off and put a muzzle brake on instead of flash hider. WHAT they might do is throw in legislation that anything with a Pistol grip can not be owned. So any rifle with a detached mag, pistol grip, is out the window.

Again I am terribly upset at this, BUT this hasnt passed the house assembly yet, and we do not know what exactly it says. Also once the bill is finalized and signed by all how long is it actually going to take to put into practice. Lastly I wouldnt be surprised if there are some law suits over this.

But what I can say is please help your NY brethern purchase as much as possible in the next few days.

Unless Im reading incorrectly...which Ive been accused of lately..[:D]..it is NOT LAW yet?

This is exactly how things get twisted & missconceptions get started.

Maybe its one step closer to being Law, but its NOT Law yet?!

WTH is wrong with loading up and heading to the Capital with protestors, hand wringing and bitchin' on a forum gets NOTHING accomplished.

ANYTHING instead of setting back accepting it!

FIGHT IT every way you can, hell, if they dont hear anything from gun owners they just plow ahead with their anti Constitutional BS...make a stink, a BIG STINK!...who cares if you miss a day or two of work, the Founding Fathers put their life on the line and EVERYTHING they owned to become the terrorist of the day...[;)]

thats what I am saying. Everything included in the bill is speculation. The only firm thing is the mag count and mental ill people. I think the media is spinning what the GOV actually wanted to whats really happening. Our worst fears may come true but I as bad as some of this is or might be, I dont think its going to be as bad as what some are thinking on here.

injunctions are being written as we speak,...this will be judged on it's constitutionality. NY isn't the ultimate authority on this,..and if I am right, the NRA will have congress involved. From what I am hearing through political channels, the congress doesn't have enough votes for an assault weapons (whatever that is) ban. I expect a run at magazine capacity and background checks no matter where the sale takes place. THAT may have a chance.

I expect the challenges to hold off NY's libtard law for a handful of years.

I expected the part about pistol permit renewal every five years. Now they are for life. They will charge a fee of about $100 or so and maybe a fee per handgun on the permit.

    Nards444 is misinformed

20-30 rounds are not currently a felony. Currently All preban high capacity magazines are legal,

Possessing a mag greater than 7 will be illegal in 1 year. You cannot have a 10 rounder loaded to 7 and be legal

Let me clarify anything after the pre ban is a felony.

I was not wrong, this was just down the street from me. If you live in NY and want to play the pre ban post ban thing go ahead.

I also stated the 10 rd magazine with 7 in there was a rumor that I heard and not truth yet, please read. Nothing is formal or signed yet anyways.

The way I see it.....let them HAVE that area....and the people that care about REALLY being free and having the liberties guaranteed by our constitution should move out of there. Come on to the other areas...when its all said and done they will get exactly what they deserve.

So much for "we're all in this together". Let's see you pack up and leave your grandkids and everything you've spent a lifetime working for when they come for YOUR guns!

Well Kasey, what do you say? Ready to abandon everything and head for the hills when they come to take your guns? When Obummer gets his nationwide gun ban passed what are you going to do, leave the country?
