Because when he bought it Jews and blacks were not allowed and after the purchase he insisted that they be admitted.

I think he is giving people what they have supported.

Whether any of us like it or not, this election is about the establishment, and the job they have done with the usual spit, polish, and puffery. Trump is not where he is because he has behaved as a normal politician.

Now you will hear the media talk about Clinton's details (which BTW she was reading from notes) and how she gave lots of specifics. Highly specific inanity, with details. That is going to happen after each debate.

One other thing that is telling is that Trump referred to Hillary as 'Secretary Clinton'. Hillary called him Donald the entire night.

People notice these things, probably more than 'details'. They will notice the crowd being allowed to applaud Clinton without reproach. They will notice Lester trying to 'Factcheck' Trump, but never once Hillary.

From a political standpoint, tonight went very well for Trump.

I disagree. He started strong, surged then went back and forth until generally shutting up when he should be quiet. Then got out of control again at the end.

Also agree her evil minions got free reign on crowd noise and the Good guys did not.

If you. An watch this thing and vote for either of these idiots, you must loathe America. There are virtually no practical specifics from either candidate. A laundry list of attempted gotcha comments, some of which work and some of which fall flat. Given the choice of the three folks on the stage, I'd pick Holt over either of them.

A vote for anyone other then Trump is a vote for The pantsuit. Stop trying to convince yourself otherwise.

Overall I thought Trump landed more big hits, but his demeanor during most of the debate didn't help him.

"She has a lot of experience. It's all bad."
    Classic!!
He should of hammered her harder about the email and server. He was off to a good start about her employees pleading the fifth. He should of pressed it a little harder.
    No talk about BenGazi.
I thought he babbled too much.

but the United States is not a democracy

A popular, though mistaken, fallacy. We are a representative republic, which is a form of democracy.

I'm waiting for a couple people with facial recognition systems to come to a conclusion, but I am wondering how the hell a woman who collapsed and has looked like the walking dead for a week appeared that well tonight.

She was either well prepared with canned crap in the manner of a professional politician, or was being prompted. Beyond that, the female participant brought nothing to the table beyond repeating Donals calls fat pigs fat pigs.

Trump was Trump, and NOT a polished professional politician. He did bring out some good points like $#!tlery creating ISIS and the US funding NATO and Japan's Defense.

Conclusion- neither picked up any of the other's voters. Total waste of time and money designed to make Trump blow and look bad. Trump may have picked up a few undecided voters.

I did note at the opening Trump politely wished her good luck. I did not hear her reciprocate.

In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group. Republic. That form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whome those powers are specially delegated.

Neither of them won me over. If the idea was to grab folks and have them come over to their side, it didn't work for me.

I will not watch any future debates.

I'm fully aware it's a Republic, and also the election will be the result of a convoluted Electoral College.

The Female in the red dress said Democracy!

The majority of US general public believe it's a democracy.

The female in the red dress proved it is not even democracy at the 2016 DNC Convention when Superdelegates gave her the Nomination.

Thank you. My thought exactly. Someone has got to tell him to stop looking and acting like a circus clown when on stage. He looks childish. America has already decided whom they are voting for, myself Trump, but he sure didn't win over any of the swing votes. She looked just like a career politician and he looked like, I don't know what the hell he looked like. I still think he got the better of her and she was just following a script, that will lead us into more debt and loss businesses. You have to remember, the super wealthy and rich business owners, keep us middle class working. You impose higher taxes on them, jobs go away and it trickles down to the middle class, which is now the lower class. [V] Oakie

Yes. It is. What you are referring to is a direct democracy. Everything voted on by plebiscite.
