I think you missed his missing the point. In a Presidential election the only goal is to win the election. Getting the MSM to turn honest is a pie in the sky pipedream. It ain't gonna happen, and especially won't happen in time to make a difference. Even if you have a good logical argument to add to an emotional subject it will be ignored. There is no good answer to the old "My son gave his life for you and your country. What have you sacrificed?" Any attempt to answer that will be shoved up your ass and broken off. It doesn't matter if you're right. Trump wasn't right, by the way. Knowing when to hold your tongue is almost as important as knowing when to speak and what to say.

When people said he was a classic narcissist, no one thought that a big deal.

What that means is that he sees the world only in terms of how it is good for him, or not.

He really does believe the stuff he says, and you can see for yourself how he thinks about those who resist him or what he wants.

There are no redeeming characteristics to narcissism, and such personalities do not change.

There are lots of people you do not want to give power to, and a narcissist is one of them.

Agree totally. His narcissism is not just a personality trait, it is clearly a personality disorder. Here is an interesting clarification. It does give one pause as you read it and think of Donald.

Would somebody please tell me what Trump said that was so insulting? I have seen this 10 times and I fail to see anything but the truth about the people. A lot of you people are trying as hard as a democrat campaign director to make a simple correct statement sound like a terrible insult.
Sounds like we have a lot of Democrats on this forum to me. Some of you people will only identify yourselves as male in your personal info.
Are you so ashamed of yourselves and your opinions?

Utter naivete on the part of so many. It might help if people started asking why Trump is being asked these 'gotcha' questions, while Cankles is asked to 'tell us how wonderful she is'. Does one have to have had a child die in Iraq to express an opinion about Islamic Extremists? The connection is a silly one. The soldier who died fought for this country. That fact says nothing about the father's allegiance, or any other museum's.

I have sent emails to the networks over the last week asking why they didn't show the BernBot walkout, the BLM chants during the moment of silence for fallen LE officers, the heckling of a MOH recipient. Have any of you complaining about Trump DONE anything? Or is your time pretty well eaten up with pointless hitching in online forums?

Instead of analyzing Trump's response, get in the fight and demand the media act like responsible journalists, rather than fluff girls for the Dems.

I think it's pretty obvious why the gotcha questions and other preferential treatment of the Democrat party. It's dirty pool but it's effective and it ain't gonna change. To quote General Westmorland, "Yes, it's a poopty little war but it's the only war I've got".

I think you have missed the point. Not all voters are deep thinkers. The deck is stacked but Trump still has to play the hand he's dealt. To win an election Trump has to stay out of as many traps as he can and concentrate on maneuvering the traps he can't.

When Trump was asked for a comment on the late Muslim Captain's father's speech he should have seen it was a no win situation and simply offered his condolences to the family. Trump doesn't know how to do that. When he compared his working "very, very hard" as being an equivalent sacrifice to the Captain's death that was a huge mistake.

Three months might be long enough to recover but he doesn't need any more of these. You can offer as many logically valid arguments as you wish but nobody will hear them. He can't unloose this one. He needs to put it behind him as quickly as possible and fight the next one.

What 'SHOULD' be sounds nice, but it's a war he isn't going to win. Stick to the points,....illegal immigration, the economy, corporate taxes etc. and shut the hell up with the stupid remarks. Stay above the fray.

Trump better adapt his tactics before heading into a debate with Hillary. He is so easily bated into revealing his serious character flaws, and she'll run rings around him if he comes in with his usual tactics. She'll have the benefit of friendly media and moderators and he'll just come off as a bully and chauvinist.

I heard his comments and the comment about the man's wife were very condescending, and completely unnecessary. Why he feels the need to go after people's family members, it is just bad optics. And if you need it explained to you, then it is a waste of time because you are simply not going appreciate the stereotype he thrust on the family of a dead American service man. There is no winning that one.

Claiming anyone that doesn't agree hook line and sinker with Trump is a democrat is getting really old.

I registered as a Republican when I came of voting age, and I have ALWAYS been a Republican.

There seems to be quite a lot of point missing going on. Winning is the goal, James, but this election will not be won by playing according to the usual rules. That is my point. We have to be on offense. Trump has to be on offense. Always.

The D's trotted out Khan's family as a political stunt. They had the father repeat the lie that Trump has said to keep all Muslims out, rather than those from areas with Islamic Extremist issues, and even those only until better screening could be figured out. As far as I am concerned, that makes dear old dad fair game. What is more, there are huge numbers of people who think the same thing.

This is always what the D's do: they trot out some supposedly sympathetic figure to parrot their crap, and if we respond...we are being mean and poopy. Think Gabby Giffords. Think the Thug Mothers of Dead Thugs. Remember when AIDS was the D's big schtick? Did they trot out a flaming foof from San Francisco who buggered anything that stood still? No. They would find someone who got a transfusion. Preferably an 8 yo cute little kid. Why? Emotional blackmail. Oppose the message and you must be 'attacking' the messenger.

Much of Trump's appeal and support is due to his willingness to go on offense, and not be cowed by the usual BS. People are tired of politicians who act like Muslims, Mexicans, thugs, criminals, the useless, the homeless, and the childish matter more than the responsible, functional average citizens. They are pissed that if you declare yourself an interest group, you become somehow immune from challenge, let alone criticism.

Send Trump a letter and convince him to behave like every politician out there, and you will guarantee one thing:

    Madame President

Yep-Yep-Yep, the Democrats did every bit of that and Trump followed the whole scenario as if he were in on the rehearsal. Trump swallowed the bait hook line and sinker.

When Trump comes off as a kick ass, take no poop man in charge it helps him. I'll give you that. No argument there, but when he says things that make people hate him that is counterproductive. When he said his "worked very very hard" was an equivalent sacrifice to the Captain giving his life that was a looser. It cost him whether we want to admit it or not.

When they trot out the cute little 8 year old or the parents of a KIA he has to recognize that it's a totally emotional argument and not the time to bring up logic, and he didn't even do that in this situation.

  • Dads3040
You may think it makes people 'hate him'. I don't. That is a simplistic view, based on your reaction. It has little to nothing to do with what is actually happening. Look at the polling.

You are hearing about Trump being mean to the muslims, because the media and the D's don't want to talk about the bounce in the polls Hillary got out of the DNC...because she didn't get one. Had she gotten the big ol' bounce the talking heads and Democrat Kneepad Brigade had been predicting for weeks, that would have been all over the Sunday shows. Instead? TRUMP IS A POOP...and pay no attention to the non-existent bump.

Trump got a 4-5% bump after the RNC. Hillary got 1-2%, and that is with pollsters trying everything they can to tweak the numbers. Again James, you are looking at this through the lens of normal presidential campaign metrics. They won't work. For good or ill, this is going to be a populist election, fought on a political battlefield unlike anything seen since William Jennings Bryant.

Do you really think that people are missing that a Muslim slaughtered 50 people in Florida a few weeks ago, Europe is exploding with Muslim butchery, a priest got his head whacked off by muslims...and the D's trotted out a 'grieving' Muslim family to attack Trump?

Police officers were ambushed...and the D's bring out a group of thug mothers who likely couldn't pin down which neighborhood scum impregnated them with the now deceased thug...while showing such disrespect as to chant crap and nonsense...during a moment of silence for fallen officers.

The media and D's are doing their best to divert attention from their anti-social, anti-American attitudes and membership. I see no reason I need to fall for the sleight of hand they are trying.

Just about anything can and does change from election cycle to election cycle but one thing that doesn't change is human nature. Humans are a herd animal that function more on emotion than logic and even more so when at war with another herd (jihad). Trump has used that to his advantage for most of the campaign. I'd hate to see him blow it now.

The Captain's father had the sympathy of the herd before he opened his mouth. Not just the Democrat herd, but also the Republicans and most importantly the 'Independents'. When I saw Trump make his comment I knew it was a setup and I still felt some sympathy for the Captain's father.

I take some pride in being more logical than emotional, but I have the added handicap of being a pragmatist. I mostly see things as they are instead of how I wish them to be.

What you fail to grasp, James, is that elections are not won and lost based on what you see, think, feel, or imagine. Pragmatic and logical as you may be, you are just one person.

The results will be based on the reactions and attitudes of millions of people. Given the results of recent polls, especially the one released a few days ago by Gravis concerning immigration, the people of the country are not very disposed to the positions of the democrats, and/or the establishment of either party.

I follow polls very closely. Not just the results, but the methodology and framing of the questions. I don't think Trump is blowing it by any means. He is doing exactly what many Americans have been wanting for several election cycles: fighting for the people.

Trump doesn't need to sway Trump supporters, he needs to sway "independents" and his antics just distract from what was once an effective message. The more he allows himself to step into pointless controversy, the more he gets pulled off message. Which is exactly what the libs intend to happen. So from here on out, every time he says something remotely controversial the lib media will harp on it to get him off message. If he actually wants to win (which I am suspicious that he does actually want to be President) then he needs to stop attacking people that voters are going to view as "innocent" Americans. He needs to focus his comments on Clinton and her adherence to failing policies.

What he said. I try to stay out of political arguments, but I'm astounded at the postings that denigrate Trump and by so doing swing votes for Hillary. Like the saying, "Chickens voting for Col. Sanders." The ones slandering Trump will be the first ones frothing at the mouth when you can no longer use magazines with more than five rounds. Punished by prison time. It's "anyone but Hillary time" and if you can't realize this, then its over, they've won.

So what you are saying is that Trump should be above any criticism? It is not slander if it is factually accurate. We should just step inline and STFU? It is that exact attitude that will drive potential voters away from Trump.

This wasn't a 'gotcha' question. It was an obvious question based upon Trump's statements regarding muslims. Any comment that could be taken as negative or disparaging about the family of a fallen serviceman are stupid. People can make up any rationale to justify or twist his statements, but the bottom line is that he needs to grow the hell up and control his mouth.

There is a real story here that is being ignored, however. While muslims represent approximately 1% of the US population, they comprise just 0.25% of the U.S. Armed forces. A 4:1 underrepresentation says something very telling about how 'American' these people actually are.

Trump said about the soldiers wife and I quote. " she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably ,Maybe she wasn't allowed to say anything you tell me."
How can anybody say that is an outrageous statement?
Secondly, He never compared his sacrifices to the loss of the mother or father of the Muslim soldier.
He was asked by George Stephanopoulos, The former Clinton white house employee, what his sacrifices were for this country. and he answered.
What the Hell was Hillery's sacrifices? Only a Democrat can stretch his answer into an insulting reply to that Muslim Mother and Father.
Maybe some of you should go back and listen to his reply rather than just taking the Democrat version to the bank.
    http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc-news/watch/trump-responds-to-father-of-fallen-muslim-soldier-735328323841
As for what Trump has done for America, somebody has to produce something in this country or else there will be no money to pay for anything including the military. Trump is a great producer. No body else running for president has actually produced anything. If most people were given a million dollars by their father it wouldn't last more than three years. Trump made his money. Hillery stole most of hers.

While he may have chosen his words more carefully,I don't see anything there where he compares himself to the father of a fallen soldier.
