    Soooooo...
The two positions that are required to take immediate action on this EO are unfilled!

I get the idea of draining the swamp. But this is more like the Chinese cultural revolution than the American Revolution.

Ya got to leave someone who knows how to turn on the lights and open the store!!

The candidates for those two positions have been known, vetted, and ready for work for several weeks. They simply await Senate confirmation.

Soooo, maybe you ought to check with the democrats holding up the process.

    [:D][:D][:D] This is fun.

No one can be as obtuse as you are being without effort. The countries subject to the EO restrictions are the ones chosen by Obama and Congress. Do they have business interests in the same countries as Trump? Or are other factors being used?

Again, you are avoiding reality to play games.

    Big surprise there.

No, you are missing the point. I did not argue anything about what Obama did. I simply identified that the nations targeted had never provided a refugee responsible for a US citizen's death by terrorism in this century, and thought that pretty absurd.

I then also answered a question by 1911a1fan regarding the countries that had supplied terrorists responsible for 98% of all terrorist deaths in this country, and subsequently added Russia, bring the percentage ignored by Trump's order to 99% for this century.

Regardless of what Obama did, if the stated purpose of the order is to be believed, then are you suggesting that Trump simply copied Obama's list and gave the process no further thought ?

Perhaps you should listen to Giuliani's account of the plan to develop the order before you make any more claims.

So why would he do so ? It could not reasonably accomplish the order's stated goal. The order even discussed the 9/11 attacks. Ignorance ? Buffoonery ?

If you copy someone else's homework, and they have all the wrong answers, you still get a failing grade when the teacher grades it.

Is that really the position you wish to take ?

Obama made me do it ?

You are being a bit disingenuous. You fail to mention your cute quips about countries where Trump has business interests. In the narrative you give, those serve no rational purpose, which leaves the question of why you felt driven to mention it. Obviously since those 7 countries were not originally identified and subjected to restrictions by the Trump administration, we know that other factors were used, and that it would be stupid to opine that the list stopped at those 7 because of some relation to Trump's businesses. Res Ipsa Loquitor

As to why those 7 nations were placed under restriction by Congress and the Obama Administration, and now stronger restrictions under this new EO, it seems that they have been identified as having ties to terrorist activities. Whether it is their citizens committing the acts themselves, or if there is training and support taking place, that seems a reasonable standard to apply. If you think that absurd, you surely raised this point when the 7 countries were initially placed on the restricted list, right? Again, I don't really expect you to answer, as to do so would make clear your bias and newly discovered outrage. I also note that the lack of casualties by refugees from these countries is not for a lack of trying. Would you feel better if the ones who have tried had been more successful?

As to why no others countries were listed at this time, surely adding another country needs to be done in concert with Congress and the intelligence community, as the 7 originals were in the original law passed in 2015 & 2016, and that takes time. The Trump administration is all of 9 days old. If the Trump administration were to unilaterally add another country, think of how loud you snowflakes would yell, given how loud the bleeting has been over 7 countries that have been on restricted status for several years.

The EO mentions the 911 attacks, not as a reason for these enhanced procedures as you seem to imply, but because it was the genesis of the strengthening of the visa screening process. You grasp this concept, right?
quote:Section 1. Purpose. The visa-issuance process plays a crucial role in detecting individuals with terrorist ties and stopping them from entering the United States. Perhaps in no instance was that more apparent than the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, when State Department policy prevented consular officers from properly scrutinizing the visa applications of several of the 19 foreign nationals who went on to murder nearly 3,000 Americans. And while the visa-issuance process was reviewed and amended after the September 11 attacks to better detect would-be terrorists from receiving visas, these measures did not stop attacks by foreign nationals who were admitted to the United States.

Numerous foreign-born individuals have been convicted or implicated in terrorism-related crimes since September 11, 2001, including foreign nationals who entered the United States after receiving visitor, student, or employment visas, or who entered through the United States refugee resettlement program. Deteriorating conditions in certain countries due to war, strife, disaster, and civil unrest increase the likelihood that terrorists will use any means possible to enter the United States. The United States must be vigilant during the visa-issuance process to ensure that those approved for admission do not intend to harm Americans and that they have no ties to terrorism.

Just as foolish as your other assertions is your apparent claim that Trump is 'copying Obama's homework'. If he were indeed doing so, he would have changed nothing, and not increased the security restrictions and screening. The commonality begins and ends with the countries targeted. Tortured as your homework analogy is, I suppose this EO can best be described as giving different answers.

I would not be a bit surprised to see other countries added to the list for the enhanced screening procedures that derive from this process, just as I won't be surprised when you and a few others find fault with those additions. It is your nature.

I know, but the wife is out with on a gals night, and it is fun to screw with him sometimes.

I sometimes suggest to him that typing 'Oh Huh!' would save him time. [8D]

    Bingo!

It only "OK" when a DEMOCRAT implements a ban. Remember when the peanut farmer kicked all the Iranian students with visas out of the country and placed further bans when the embassy was taken over.

Carter was extolled by his colleagues and DEMOCRAT controlled media

Trying to support Trump on this, but it seems to me like countries who have ACTUALLY sponsored terrorism in the US might need to be on the list.
