Problem with my foot. (Update)
I've had a problem with my foot for about a year maybe. Two small warts just behind the toes on my right foot in the callous, right at the ball of the foot. It finally became painful to walk on. Had to do something.
Spoke to my friend, I went to high school with that owns a Pharmacy. He suggested something called a Wart Stick. Saliscillic (Sp?) Acid in a chap stick form. Used it for a few days. What he didn't tell me. (Not his fault, I didn't tell him where I was going to use it.) [At the front ball of my foot.] Was that this sheeit pretty much dissolves your skin. I had deep layers of callous sloughing off.
I now had fresh pink skin just behind my toes on the ball of my foot. (About the size of 2/3rds of a dollar bill,) Not good. I have to wear heavy steel toe work boots at work, and walk miles each day on concrete. Hurts your feet on the best of days. Was extremely painful to walk on.
I Saw the Nurse Practitioner on staff at work this morning. Showed her what was going on. She had no solution, other than don't use any more of that medicine and try and let your foot heal. (Thanks.[^])
Foot got worse as the day went on. Hobbling around. Got home pulled my boot off. .50cent size blister deep under the ball of my foot in the new pink skin. [:0]
Drained it with a cauterized needle. About an hour later it is filled with blood. (Not good.) I'm thinking soaking it in Epsom salt would be best. (?) Suggestions welcomed.
I think I am going to be missing a couple/three days work due to this. I can not walk miles a day in heavy work boots. I'm almost crippled in Crocs.
Sorry, not my most glamorous post. I need help. Suggestions?

Yes use Epsom salts.
Has worked wonders for my feet in the past.
Calluses slough off and draws out blisters and even a splinter.
I use about 1 cup per gallon.
1-2 times a day for a few days and you should be good to go.0 -
Plantar (on the bottom of your foot) warts. Electric burn em off at doc's, dig em out with a loop knife, or use salicylic acid...
All painful.0 -
Thank you. I thought that would be the best course.
Called a girlfriend, she is going to bring some by. [:D]
I might need some loving. [;)]
Being hurt and all. [}:)]
Yes Ricci - I know I can let my Dog chew my foot off. (Not the help I was looking for.) Thanks in advance. [^]0 -

Another Nurse Practitioner suggestion.
One us uneducated Heathens, had come up with on our own. Along with, "Don't use any more of that medicine, and let your foot heal."
Gee - who would have thought? [:0]0 -
I?d think you want to try to change socks a few times a day. Try to keep your feet dry when your working to help it heal up.
Might want to run the course on the salicylic acid or once you?re nice and dry, you can try to put duct tape over them, as that can block the Oxygen the virus needs to live. May need to leave it there a week or better. Heard it works never tried it as it?s hard to keep duck tape on a finger for a couple weeks.
Good luck!0 -

My Man.
Duct Tape.
I was thinking the same thing.
Like that commercial for that new movie Skyscraper with "The Rock."
When he is taping together his ravaged shoulder. "If you can't fix it with duct tape, your not using enough duct tape."

Watch for MRSA and abscess / Cellulitus
With that type of wound - in that location antibiotic resistant staff infections and flesh eating bacteria or sepsis are real threats and killers
Appearance of wound closure over necrotic tissue can lead to gangrene
Seeing your primary care doc and inquiring about prophylactic course of antibiotics is probably a good idea
I know you are being vigilant and cautious but MRSA is no joke and can develop very fast - make sure you are not running a fever or temp over 100?
Not trying to lecture - it's a real threat
A wound care doc / specialist might drain and cauterize the wound site in addition to antibiotic course

My advice.....
Go see a Foot doctor.
Now.
Asap.
Good luck,

I used to burn them off my fingers with a cigarette.
(After self- anesthestisizing with alcohol.)0 -
The Epsom salt felt amazing. Boiled some water, added in to a cup of Epsom salt. Added some more hot water. Almost too hot to stand. Left my feet (1st the bad one, then felt so good - added the other one in.) there for about an hour. (Felt awesome.)
Best thing I've done for my feet in years. Bad area still hurts like a Beotch, (better) but the rest of my feet feel amazing. [:D]
Highly recommend it. [:D]0 -

I hear you Mike. If it even remotely looks like it is getting infected, I'm off to the MD. Hurts like a beotch, but okay for now. Epsom salt did wonders.0 -
Get some lambs wool. It should be by the foot insoles at the store. It'll help with the pressure on the bottom of you foot. Change it out daily. I used this when I had really bad burn on the bottom of my foot. it helped me alot. 0 -
Thank you all.
Pretty sure I will be calling out tomorrow. No way can I walk miles in heavy steel toe work boots on concrete.
Foot is super tender, not taking any weight at the front forefoot. I need to take some time off my foot, and continue soaking in Epsom salt. (Will administer some antibiotics, but its not an open wound yet.) [Thank God.] Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate it.

What the hell is it about men that they go to a freaking GUN FORUM when they have severe medical issues.
Not being able to walk is a SEVERE issue. This ain't gout it is a foot with real probable problems.
Hell, why you are at it; does anyone want to perform the neurosurgery done on my neck for me while passing out piss poor medical advice???
Bravo, go to a real doctor, one that has a shingle on the wall where he passed some tests and read a book or two.
Messing around with sloughing skin, plantar warts, probable infections mixed with steel toe boots and miles of walking per day is a disaster looking for a place to happen.
SUGGESTION
You asked for suggestions; get off your dead ass onto your dying feet and go to a real doctor and get your foot fixed you meathead. Yes, that was said with the greatest affection and kindness possible, because I care about you.0 -
I gotta agree with bruce, go to doctor, its better now than a month or so down road and possibility of losing some/all of your foot, then limping the rest of your life, isn't it worth a $100 office call not to gamble on lifelong limp???? 0 -
Thanks Bruce, hillbillie, Barz. You all of course, are right.
Bpost- I needed a morning laugh. Thank you. [:D]
I (of course) could not go to work this AM. Hobbling around. Re-drained it. Have had three courses of Epsom salt soaks this AM. Water almost to boiling, add a little cooler water, almost too hot to stand. Perfect. It feels amazing. Best thing I've done for my feet in a long time. It will be a now weekly indulgence.
It doesn't look as bad as it sounds. I'm dealing with it. If it even remotely looks worse/bad, I'm off to the MD. I may even explore the local options of a Po Di Atrist. [:D]
I'm your classic - I'll go to the DR. when and if I'm bleeding really bad. I'm not stupid however, I'll go if I have to. [^]
Thanks all.0 -
Barzillia is right; the crap you put on your foot is aspirin. Take a lot of it by mouth without enough water, & it will burn a hole in your stomach. It is caustic.
The professional you want to see is a podiatrist; he is a medical doctor whose specialty is feet. Continue to screw around with well meaning (but unqualified) friends, & you will get a new nickname: Pegleg.

This and My advice is that You should never ever intentionally burst blisters0 -
Salicylic acid
Salicylic acid, a caustic substance, can treat a variety of skin problems, including acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, corns, calluses and warts. Many over-the-counter wart treatments, for plantar warts on the feet and common warts on the fingers and hands, contain salicylic acid. Simple to use, this acid will generally remove a wart within several weeks if applied regularly and properly.0 -
Good luck on the healing process, Ken! 0 -

Mike gave very good advice. By the time you notice "getting infected" you could have sepsis which could require a long hospital stay or loss of limb...or worse
He who treats himself has a fool for a doctor.[:D]0 -

By the time you notice that it is infected, it may be too late and much harder to treat. Go to the doctor now.
It needs to be treated properly and the doctor may need you stop walking on it for a while.0 -
I heard you all. I broke down and just got back from the MD.
Tetanus shot, 500mg of Cephalexin (Antibiotic)
