FFL Charges? Really?
I've noticed that a lot of sellers on GB charge an FFL transfer fee for the sale of a gun. I get free transfers from my gun range just because I have a membership ($350 a year for my whole family). Hard to believe that these top sellers don't get better deals for FFL transfers and want $20 for each transfer. Sounds fishy to me. Another way to get a few more dollars out of the buyer.
Any of our sellers here can shed more light on this? Am I missing something?

If we accept a firearm transfer we charge $20.00. That is for a firearm a customer has ordered from another dealer that has been shipped to our store. I feel this is a reasonable charge for us doing the paperwork and contacting the sender to get them a copy of our FFL. 0 -
The paperwork takes what, 15 minutes or so? Sounds reasonable to me. I don't work for free and I don't expect them to either. The cost of running a business is not cheap.[B)] 0 -
When I moved to the town I live in now, the 3 largest gun shops all quoted $45 as their transfer fee. One is a regular seller here. I think they will actually charge less, depending on how well they know you and how much money you spend in their store. 0 -
You might be looking at a seller that is not an FFL.
If someone buys a gun and the dealer they are having the item shipped to will NOT take the gun in unless it comes from an FFL it adds a step in the process and can add a fee for the seller to get an FFL to ship the gun out that they sold.0 -

Nobody does it around me for $20. The minimum seems to be $35. By the time the buyer pays shipping and that added $35, it's harder to get a good deal. But they are still available. C&R license helps.
That said, I don't feel $35 is out of line. The FFL is in business to make money and should be paid for his time and the service.0 -

I have a buddy with a a FFL for many years when I bought a gun off the internet I gave him 20.00 for his efforts .. and I would always consider that added too the gun when bidding . I have given him more for ordering guns at his cost for me . he has never ask for a penny just the right thing to do [^] 0 -
My shop charges $25.00 for most of our customers on stuff we order or receive for them 0 -
Oregon they have to pay the state for each Back ground Check So there are very few places doing it for free. 0 -
$20 for being a receiving FFL is pretty reasonable. In addition to 15 minutes of time in completing the 4473 and background check, there is also time in actually receiving the gun, and notifying the recipient- and 20 years of STORING the 4473. Some dealers here charge $100. 0 -

Here in PA, I charge 20.00 for transfer of one gun. If you get more than one, it goes 20.00 for the first, 10.00 for the 2nd, and 5.00 for every gun thereafter as long as they are done at the same time. PA charges me for EACH GUN. Yes, I only do 1 backround check, but the state still charges for every gun. 0 -
In CA an out of state transfer can cost anywhere from $65.00 on the low side to about $250.00. Plus tax. 0 -
I had a 'local dealer' in Colorado pop me $80 one time about 2002 to transfer for me. $80. I had bought guns from his shop in the past, bought ammo, etc, HOWEVER, I went in 'cold' one night after buying a gun on-line and asked if he would handle the transfer, he said sure! When I came in to the get the gun, $80... It was a $550 gun. I did all the mailing of the FFL copy FOR him and handled communications with the seller ref. shipping and what not. Yeah. His shop, his rules I learned. I found a dealer 15 miles out of town that NEVER, EVER screwed me over like that and spent TONS of money with him instead... 0 -
Transfer fee? Seller? I've never had a seller charge a transfer fee.

$20 for receiving, logging, filling in a 4473, background check, and calling to pickup a firearm sounds great, best around here is $35, and the worst $85!

I charge 20.00 + background check if necessary (non CCW holders). I've had more than one person order more than one firearm and picked them up on the same day. I do not charge them for each firearm for the multiple transfers done on the same day, just a flat 20.00 for doing the paperwork. 0 -
My Transfer FFL charges $15. He always gets $20. I want him to be glad to see me, since I buy many more WWII handguns than new.

We've got a dealer in town here that charges $100 for a transfer. I haven't been in his store for 10 years. The lady I deal with charges $25 or $30. 0 -

I had a couple of cooperative dealers who charged $20 per 4473 regardless of how many guns were listed. Then I tried to deal with an jerk who says $20 PER SERIAL NUMBER. I told him he was too high and walked. Greedy buzzard lost ANY chance of handling a transfer or selling me a gun off his rack.0 -
I run a penny start auction I have no FFL so I have to make sure like shipping that the 20 bucks I pay my FFL to send to theirs is covered. 0 -

I once had an indoor range in Clovis, California tell me how much work and paperwork was involved in a transfer as a way to try and justify his $75 transfer fee. Haven't been back in the place since. Some places around here advertise internet transfers for $100. Wonder if they do any. 0 -

Where i live i can get a ffl transfer for 10 to 15 dollars.
Where i go he charges 20 dollars a gun. Sometimes he throws in 1 for free. I then pay him 10 dollars. LOL He does it from home and is very well off.
He is an older guy around 60 who just retired. When his friends call him to sell a gun he sells them to me.
I bought a gun from GB last month and it took about 8 days extra because he went on vacation. He told me to look for someone else and i told him to call me when he gets back so i can pick it up.
I told him its not my only gun and he just laughed. Plus he gives me the gun rags that he gets sent. I will stick with him because i like him.0 -

Again, I was referring to the seller charging for FFL. When I walk into a store and buy a gun, if they tell me that the background check is going to cost me extra, I walk out and go to another store. Likewise, when I buy a gun online, I only expect to pay for the receiving FFL (which is free for me). So as far as I'm concerned, anyone who sells a lot of guns should not charge for an FFL transfer to send me a gun that I bought. 0 -
My Transfer FFL charges $10 for each gun he does , doesn't matter if its one at a time or several together , they're each 10 bucks , seems fair to me as its not very often that i have more than one to do 0
