Trump plans EMERGENCY AID to Farmers !!!
The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that a $12 billion farmer emergency aid plan is in the works on Tuesday to temporarily mitigate the effects of U.S. tariffs and ongoing trade negotiations.
The U.S. Agriculture Department, headed by Secretary Sonny Perdue, released the plan on Tuesday. Perdue was instructed this year to investigate potential remedy to farmers? concerns about tariffs and trade disputes between the U.S. and its trading partners.
The Washington Post reported details of the $12 billion plan, according to two sources who had been briefed on it:

I am not big fan of Farmer subsidies but at least we are subsiding American Farmers and not propping up foreign farmers like the cotton farmers in Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile Republican Senators and representatives undermine the Trump's negotiating tactic and prefer to allow the rest of the world to screw us on trade, just to maintain the status quo. If this will lead to better deals for the US then I think the short term pain is worth while. 0 -

i am a retired small farmer..wore out .... i don't care if many go hungry because our past govts favored consumers and foreigners at our expense...and being in and out of govt payments never made me more than if i raised a good crop and decent prices relevant to expenses....most do NOT understand the fine print of dealing with the USDA/politics embargos, NAFTA, and trade deals screwed me around.. but i survived to manage a small amount to hopefully cover till i croak...it was a struggle but better than working in a building full of people who got ahead by slicing and dicing others..saw a lot of sunrises and sunsets and nature from machinery...an oil well or 6, inheritance, or lottery win might have done me better...had one new pickup in 1974 and i did NOT drive my tractor to Washington DC in protest...it's been a life 0 -

I have read all I can get on the idea and policy of tariffs. What it boils down to in this case with the USA and China is pretty simple. There will be damage, real damage done to both sides unless an agreement can be reached. With that said the damage comparison can be measured like this. The USA will get hit in the economic thumb with a hammer, we will lose the nail but it will regrow.
The Chinese on the other hand will have both arms chopped of near the elbow. Those appendages do not grow back; the damage is permanent and hard to adjust to.
Previous administrations both (D) scumbags and (R) slimeballs have allowed the US economy to be used as a diaper. There is no real balance of trade, the trade favors the crap out of China and US business by and large is locked out of the potential market of over 1.3 billion people for our goods. We can not play in China unless we give away our trade secrets our methods and our know how. Our products have ridiculous hurdles placed in front of them to slow the exchange by design unless China scores big on every transaction.
That is what is unfair, Trump and China know it and the Chinese are not willing to get both arms chopped off.
They will come to the table with a reluctant but willing attitude soon enough, they have to there is no other choice for China. It is also a gamble; Americans will get hurt I am one of them. The proposed tariffs on Chinese made tires is onerous it will hurt us bad but it is a game plan with sound foundations to reverse or at least slow the inequities our businesses face in the far east.0 -

We are playing with fire, and I don't think Trump understands what will happen if we do not win.

I was thinking that this sounds like something china would do, subsidize for unfair competition.
What Trump should have done is an executive order legalizing pot for the farmers to grow. Win-win. DC gives away pot seeds, the farmers could line up with pickup trucks and fetch them some free weed seed.0 -

Farm Grain prices were in the toilet way before Trump and getting 1970s grain prices now are hurting farmers.

I've watched Trump since he announced his bid for the Republican nomination. Early on he said "This is Americas Last Chance." Trump has convinced me he totally understands just how bad things had become for the people of the U.S.

I don't know if all that many farmers have been hurt by "Trump tariffs" since a crop hasn't been produced for sale since the tariffs have been set. The grain traders on the other hand are the ones who are whining. 0 -
Will trump bail out all of us scrap metal guys who are taking it in the shorts as well? Hell no. We have to suck it up and budget and cut our way thru it. No golden parachute for us like the cornflakes have. 0 -
Fixing the screwed up trade practices that this country has had for many years is going to be hard. I don't think the people have the stomach for it. Everyone wants change until it hits close to home. And to fix this mess we will all have to tighten up our belts. I cant see it happening. 0 -

i believe china will offset the trade with America by the building of the new SIlk Road project to eastern Europe and Africa... a trillion in cash up front on 190 projects at full steam while America is deciding which weirdo can use which bathroom..and their workers WILL DO what the govt says 0
