    Actually......

The FCC is prohibited by law from engaging in censorship or infringing on First Amendment rights of the press. It is, however, illegal for broadcasters to intentionally distort the news, and the FCC may act on complaints if there is documented evidence of such behavior from persons with direct personal knowledge. For more information, please see our consumer guide, Complaints About Broadcast Journalism.quote:Originally posted by mag00

The press is leaning so far left they can't tie their right shoe.

It is disgusting and anyone who supports that nonsense is just as lame, a article Yesterday headlined that Voter anger may help the Democrats but the article itself was written telling how Trumps support is eroding the "Blue Wave" The media and it's leftist supporters either have no clue of the damage they are doing to the Country (notice I capitalize country) or are truly operating a propaganda campaign to destroy America. Anyone who can't see that is stupid.

The media's job is to report the news, facts as they are not editorialize it, slant it and hypothesize it without identifying it as editorial content. Period.

The media is responsible for the division more than any candidate or party.

No it's not the medias job to report the news. The airwaves are for entertainment and for the company who hold the airwave rights to make money, that is it.

In the old days, news wasn't part of the broadcast it was entertainment. Then the companies found out that people wanted to hear the news and there was a battle to get the best relevant news to the public first.

Then, it morphed into "sensational news" and "scoops". Journalists started sensationalizing events to get market share and ratings. Some went as far as staging fires and destroying company reputations to get the ratings.

But still, the legislators and FCC allowed this abuse because the media claimed "1st amendment abuses" were constitutional. Evidently some liberal judge upheld that false premise.

I sure hope Trump and legislators fix this. It is painfully obvious the problem, yet they do nothing.

They may have the right to say it, but to make it fair, anybody should have the right to sue them for damages, punitive or other, and prevail.

The problem has been lib judges, so now you see why they fought so hard over Kavanaugh, whom is only a right leaning lefty. They want left leaning lefties.

Actually you're right to an extent, but they're not actually standing behind the First Amendment as it being constitutional. They're just using the absence of malice clause, which should be there. Otherwise nobody would dare report anything until after it has been proven in a court of law.the problem with that is that the news does warn the public as to possible dangers. And would no longer report anything if the absence of malice clause was not there. The problem is the media has abused the absence of malice clause

The absence of malice thing I am not fully up on.

The FCC does not tell any media they HAVE to report news. If they can't report it accurately, they should keep their yaps shut or be sued.

I may or may not visit the absence of malice clause or laws or rulings or whatever that is based on. If you could point me to where it all started, I may have a better chance of deciphering what that is about and better to talk on that topic.

I do know that it is not part of the 1st amendment, and thus needs to be held accountable. Who came along after and gave them carte blanche to lie, I do not know at this time. That does need to change. But, if I investigate it and find that any subsequent laws do not corroborate the lies, I will let you know.

I did not fight and defend my country so people can piss on the flag. The constitution does not give anybody that right. The media has force fed that garbage to the public and liberal judged mis interpreted that.

The first amendment allows you recourse to petition the government for redress, not lie indiscriminately. It was never meant to protect lies. It was written so people with opposing views on the leaders could not be chained in dungeons and tortured and made examples of to keep the government in ill gotten power.

We need to get back to those basics.

Some may argue that if Trump reigns in the media, that he will be like the other dictators who have done so. Problem is that the media is already weaponized, so that ship has sailed.

The FCC dropped the ball, and back when Obama appointed the radical FCC chair, all sorts of things have been happening that nobody seems to care about. One of the latest being that big conglomerates can now buy up the smaller companies.

There is only so much air bandwidth, and the FCC was supposed to keep bigger stations from stepping on and basically shouting over the smaller lower power stations. Then FCC got political and now we have what is current.

FCC FDA and EPA are some of the most evil controlling alphabet branches, and they go unchecked, not voted for and untouchable.

Supreme court has nothing on them.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Times_Co._v._Sullivan

New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964),[1] was a landmark United States Supreme Court case that established the actual malice standard, which has to be met before press reports about public officials can be considered to be libel;[2] and hence allowed free reporting of the civil rights campaigns in the southern United States. It is one of the key decisions supporting the freedom of the press. The actual malice standard requires that the plaintiff in a defamation case, if that person is a public official or public figure, prove that the publisher of the statement in question knew that the statement was false or acted in reckless disregard of its truth or falsity.

Your right dickwad words do matter and you have been spewing hate from day 1.

How can this get more insane?

I am not ignoring you COL but Rem and Scout are doing a fine job proving my point that you missed by a mile.

If I am not mistaken, didn't a lot of these left wing liberal loonies, tell people to harass white house employees, republican senators and so on, there Jeffry boy????? Didn't the asshat Robert DiNero, tell our president to go get F'ed????

Notice the stamps are not cancelled?? And who would take the time, to put that pipe bomb on their counter, next to kitchen accessories and food, to take a photo op???? I'm calling BS on this whole story. If the person was really pissed and wanted to make a statement, one of those bombs would have went off.
Now after saying all that, I am totally against anyone doing such a disgusting act like this, weather it was real or staged. No life is worth any political view or disagreement. This is what makes us great, or use to anyway, is that we could totally disagree with someone, and not kill them. Oak

And there you have it Colonel Pink, and yes I said Pink not Plink. You remind me so much of a woman taking a discussion way off topic like this...

You women don't understand that us men or not stupid. We see right through your changing the subject to keep the fight going when you women know you've lost the original argument...

You also remind me of a woman when you state that there is no more rules, nothing's off limits. Just like a woman scorned...

Just my honest opinion of you.

The funny thing is that the media can get in your face, and they're expected to get away with it. As if I got into somebody's face like the media gets into somebody's face they could body-slammed me and there's nothing that I could do about it because I invaded their space...

I completely agree with you Greg when he body slammed that piece of turd... And I wholeheartedly support what he did.

You do realize thatthe interview is over and Greg went into his private room where this piece of turd reporter followed him into still asking questions. If I was to follow a person into his private room, and if he turned and blew my head off he would be perfectly okay doing so because it is in his private quarters, and I did burt into it, which would be criminal trespassing, but this piece of turd got away with it...

Anyway I'm finished even reading your woman like posts, because like a woman you can't stay on topic

A couple of weeks before the 2016 election, a black church was burned down. Inside the church was racist and Pro-Trump graffiti.

The media ran the story non stop, breathlessly reporting that Trumps popularity was "emboldening racists".

About 6 weeks after the election, it came out that the arsonist was a member of the congregation. The media barely covered it.

I expect this is the same.

Probably unrelated but, we were just informed in writing by the Director of Emergency Services on Ft Huachuca that our proximity cards can no longer be used to access Ft Huachuca via the card reader due to ?a change in security measures?.
This makes me wonder if they are expecting something.

There's no denying that we're angrier than we ever were. There's enough blame to go 'round on both sides. From the top down. If disagreeing with as many of tRump's Policies as I did Obama's makes me "leftist" then so be it. But there is no longer "Leadership" in this country. The nasty, snide and willful ignorance that has long defined the lower class in America has now been elevated to the highest level of government.

The media is all over that this is Trumps fault, but not one person accused the left of causing the shooting at the Republican Baseball game, not one report of the restaurant attackers being egged on and told it was OK by Lips Waters or the other vile characters in the left party.

Media Bias at it's best the Dems wanted to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine to quite the Conservative radio hosts but I think perhaps a little more fairness in the leftist media would be in order.

I have not heard Trump once encourage violence, certainly nothing approaching the message of Democrat political leaders. Calling CNN fake NEWS in no way advocates violence. Dems and media have been trying to make this stretch that Trumps advocates violence when he has said the opposite. If I am wrong, or have missed a direction to violence by Trump as comparable to obvious calls for violence by Democrats please post it here.

On Feb. 23, 2016, during a campaign rally in Las Vegas, Trump said of a heckler who was being ejected from the building, ?He?s walking out with big high-fives, smiling, laughing. I?d like to punch him in the face, I?ll tell you.?

Less than two weeks later, Trump repeated his legal-fees promise to those taking a protester out of a rally in Warren, Mich., saying: ?Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do, I?ll defend you in court, don?t worry about it.?

    Then this...

In Kansas City, he said that violent responses to protesters are ?appropriate,? adding: ?The audience hit back. That?s what we need a little more of.? THAT is inciting violence, by any normal person's measurement

Oh, and, to my original point...?Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my type!? the president told a cheering audience in Missoula. Trump was referring to an incident last year when Rep. Greg Gianforte grabbed a reporter and threw him down during a special-election campaign event. Gianforte apologized at the time and wound up pleading guilty to assault, receiving a sentence of service, but was elected anyway.

So, tRump himself referred to Gianforte's actions as a "Body-slam". Is tRump wrong?

Say what you will about my cite, the words belong to tRump. He said 'em. It's a matter of fact, not conjecture, interpretation or bias.

The difference between Trump statements and Lib statements is that Trumps are from a defensive position, where as the leftist is actually calling people to cause problems to people minding their business in public.

I'm curious how you will spin that little fact which you like to leave out.

The Trump scenario, I am in my home and a thug tries breaking in. He is for me defending my home. I like that.

Where the lib "leaders" advocate causing trouble and violence to people going about everyday activities. And for every time Trump verbally applauds a citizen standing up for his/her rights, there are many more incidents of the leftist "leaders" inciting the first attack on people minding thier business.

I'm not going to pull up a list of the actual people, you and I do know the difference don't we?

How the hell do you explain that?

One is an offensive position and the other is a defensive position. As a person who frequents a firearms forum, surely you understand the difference.
