Went exploring near Arivaca, AZ A few pictures!
Went exploring near my ranch on Monday. We are going to start building in about a year! I can't wait! It has been 12 years since we bought that property, and the waiting sucks.

The water table is all over the place. My neighbor on the hill above me hit water at 70'! My well hit water at 180', but we drilled to 300' just to make sure. That was 10 years ago, hopefully it is ok.......just a bare hole right now.

Just a gate across an access road. They have gates all over out here, as it is open range.

Check that out, water at 180 feet.
My well here in the rainy NC mountains was dry, until they hit water at 455 feet.
My well is 505 feet deep but I have lots of water.0 -

There are the usual animals.....coyotes, bobcat, COWS, and even some pronghorn antelope that were released in the 1970s. I have seen them once, and went "WHAT THE......." Really weird to see them when you know they aren't native!

Nice looking country.
We have been planning on a couple months this winter in the Wickeburg / Congress area, but a friend who has wintered in Patagonia AZ for several winters is trying to convince us to go there.
I see Patagonia is 35 miles as the crow flies east of Arivaca, not sure how many road miles,,but if the terrain there is similar to your pictures. I think Patagonia would suit me and the mules I planned to take much better than desert around Wickenburg?

The area I've been in around Patagonia is rolling hills with very few trees. I've been down that way only once or twice, 20 years ago, but I don't think it is close to the same as the pictures. Wickenburg tho.......bleh. High desert with just scrub. Ugly, imo.

Back in 1984 my brother and I rode our motorcycles, from Atlanta, out to Prescott to visit Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill.
The first morning there, we were watching Today Show and the weatherman said "Bad heat wave in Arizona, high today will be 118."
Damn that was the hottest weather I ever had experienced.
We left that afternoon at 118 degrees. Normally when you ride a motorcycle, the faster you go the cooler you get.
But, at 118, the faster you go the hotter you get.0
