Sliver has been dropping. I almost bought thought will wait a bit see if it drops again about 10 cents higher than it was around three AM. This is still lower than it has been for a time, just checked ask is 15.48 according to my source

    Do you take possession?

When silver was $3 after having been as high as $40, people just shy away from it for some reason. The demand dropped after film went digital. What other industry uses silver?

Do you think it can hit $10?

There is no reason that it couldn't hit $ 10.00, but that is below the manufacturing costs of most producers (depending upon what report you read). As the value drops below the cost of production, obviously production will be curtailed at the higher cost facilities, lowering supply.

I last bought at $ 14.50 a couple of years ago, and may or may not buy this time around. Silver takes up a lot more space per dollar than does gold, and holding enough to make a difference should things go south loses practicality at some point.

But silver is easier to trade. You want to buy a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread using gold? Easier to use silver coins, dimes, quarters for example. I like to have it around & when it goes down I take it as a buying opportunity. Right now I think it's more a matter of the Dollar going up than silver going down.

Solar panels use silver. Not sure how much per square foot ect?
Either way I see silver at a buying point, and if it keeps dropping buy more if you can.
The economy is sailing along good right now. So I don't see much of a demand for precious metals as a safe haven for the near future. Perhaps after the next POTUS election ESPECIALLY if Trump doesn't win or run and democrats win precious metals should soar as the economy tanks.

Where are some reasonable places to purchase silver? I like tangible items. If for some reason inflation goes rampant, stuff can be bartered, fake paper, not so much.

After trying a couple of other places, I have settled on JM Bullion for silver and gold.

JM Bullion is a great place, as well as Provident Metals. Both provide free shipping if you spent $100 (I think) or more.

BUY SILVER NOW while it is cheap. [:D]

But all of them charge more to use a credit card. If you bid on the place we are not allowed to mention you can find cheaper prices, free shipping, no sales tax & I get a 2% rebate on the credit card they let me use for free. If they charge shipping I take that off my maximum bid.
There are a wide variety of silver products available but lately I have just been buying rolls of silver coins. Just be sure to read the details of the offering carefully. Right now I wouldn't go much over ten times face after figuring in the 2% rebate so certainly less than $110 for a ten Dollar roll. If you like silver Dollars you may want to pay a small premium over that.

I just checked J.M. Bullion for an example & they list junk silver "as low as" $12.53/Dollar. I can beat the heck out of that on the place we are not allowed to mention.

Which is heavier and ounce of gold or an ounce of feathers?

I picked up some apmex today, 10 oz bar for too much over spot. Found another place that is $1 over spot. He was out, and ordered some for me at $1.25 over spot.

To each his own. I wouldn't buy silver or gold off of that site, but if you have had good luck with it, more power to you.

I use a wire transfer/electronic check, so there is no premium for credit and usually buy bullion or silver/gold eagles. Obviously don't get the CC rebate, but buying from a known reputable dealer serves me well.

Hard to go wrong on silver coin rolls. Not long ago I got two rolls of Mercury dimes that had 51 coins in each roll. They were well worn & maybe they filled the orders by weight instead of counting but I was happy. Some of the coins have been poor but they were as described. In some cases they have been much better than I expected.

Silver and Gold are both crashing due to a strong dollar.

Now might be the time to invest in mining companies

The best time to buy any precious metal is at the beginning of liberal establishment. The best time to sell is at the beginning of a conservative established.

It's funny how when the economy drops the precious metal value rises and when the economy rises the precious metal value drops...

When are liberals ever going to understand that the economy always drops when a liberal is in office, and the economy rises when a conservative is in office....

Not yet wait until after the elections to see if we have a conservative or liberal control government. If it's liberal controlled buy, buy, buy. If it's conservatives controlled sell, sell, sell. Precious metals rise when the economy tanks and drops when the economy is doing good.

Just look at history, when liberals take over the economy tanks. When the conservatives take over, the economy does good

When will the Liberals ever learn... the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result...

My advice is this, after doing your research on the up/down cycles of silver prices over the last 20 years or so....

Get yourself a blank sheet of paper and write what you consider a reasonable current buy-price at the top of the page.

Then, write your reasonable sell-price near the bottom of the page.
    Think "Reasonable" profit!

When silver hits your buy price, Buy!
Most people greedily wait for it to go lower.

When silver hits your sell price, Sell!
Again, most people greedily wait for it to go higher.

    Then start over.

This concept has served me well for many years with gold, silver and stocks.

The time to buy silver is it's ratio to gold....silvers ratio right now is 84 to one. At that ratio 84 ounces to one ounce of gold, it is best time to sell gold and use it to buy silver. When silver rises to a ratio around 43 to one ounce of gold it's time to sell silver.
This is the best buying opportunity right now to buy silver unless it drops some more than it's even better. But beware....all it takes is a war or an oil embargo, a big natural disaster, and fear hits the market and all bets are off and gold & silver skyrocket. It's better to be a year early than a day late, those few pennies your saving by waiting will be made up when the metals take off.

An ounce of gold is heavier than an ounce of feathers. 480 grains in an ounce of gold. 437 grains in an ounce of feathers.

No I didn't miss the 90s, but Clinton's economic policies were considered conservative even though he was a liberal. So as far as economics through his administration, they WERE conservative... That is why he was considered a conservative liberal, because of his he economic policies.

So I stand by my statement. Precious metals prices rise during liberal administration's and decline during conservative Administrations.

This is a site that shows the MELT value of US silver coins (not the collector's value) and updates prices daily. Silver is about as low as I have seen it in 10 years. There are a few pawn shops around that usually have some junk silver (worn coins) for about the spot silver price.

    http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html

Silver may go up or down, but never goes to zero. When prices are this low, time for me to add a modest amount to what's in the safe. All else fails, I'll find a pretty gypsy and cross her palm with silver...

I've been buying from APMEX (gold and silver bars only) for 10-15 years and never have had a problem with them. Free shipping after a modest buy. I might find a bit lower price from Acme Metal and Bait Shop but it's not worth it to me.

I'll gladly trade you a pound of feathers for a pound of gold [:D]

In a few months I may try extracting the platinum out of my junk catalytic converters. Should be fun. Platinum is a good value currently too.

If gold ever goes up to 1800 again, I am going to scrap all my computer crap.

16 ounces in a pound of feathers, only 12 ounces in a pound of gold.
