If things end up going to hell in a hand basket, which State would be best to live in??

My wife has been foaming at the mouth lately.  She loves this country more than most people born here.  According to her, our country is now more communistic than Russia is.  Russians now are all about money, getting it anyway they can.  She says she would never live in Russia again.  So what concerns her is what country do we move to if the commies win the election in the fall.  Lord have mercy that woman hates commies!!   >:) 

My answer was that we didn't have to leave the country, just move to N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Nebraska, maybe Kansas.  Maybe Alaska.  States not important enough to interest the elites, cold enough to keep out the riff raff, a long ways from anywhere a commie/lib wants to be and good decent like minded people for neighbors.  I lean towards southwestern South Dakota or northwestern Nebraska but before that day ever comes a lot of research will need to be done.  Hopefully that day will never come.


So if you felt the need to move to get away from where you are at now where would you move to??

    If Washington State gets much worse my wife & I have already discussed moving but the problem is we’re both over 50 and have good jobs. I really don’t want to start over. I already went through that after 22 years with the same company and then in 2016 the company was sold and I wasn’t retained. But if I were to leave my top 4 places are

    1. Tennessee
    2. Alaska
    3. Wyoming
    4. Montana

    I love Tennessee, I've lived in Alaska for a year ever so many years ago.  Loved Alaska.  Spent time in Wyoming and lots of time in Colorado.  I have heard that the libs have bought up much of Montana, don't know if that is true but I'll bet our resident chef would know all about that.  What I'm thinking are areas that aren't real popular destinations.   I have often heard people say "I would love to live in Montana or Wyoming or Colorado or Idaho!"  Which means these areas are popular, which means a lot of people (OK not like the east/west coasts), which means expensive.  


    When was the  last time you heard someone say "I would love to move to N. Dakota or S. Dakota or Nebraska??"   So my thinking is live in a place that is slap plumb in the middle of nowhere, where no lib wants to go so they will leave me alone and I'll try and ignore the commie parts of the country.

    Well the cold doesn't keep the riif raff out of Wisconsin. Pretty much to old to move and I'd have to hire semi trucks to move all my stuff. If I could I'd move to S.W. Wyoming.

    If you can get beyond living close to Butchdog2, Allen Griggs, Cling2myguns, and that AH 84Bravo, you will be fine. Beautiful Country.


    Although i like CO, MT, WY, etc. The winters are brutal. If it comes down to no power, live on your own, that is a major consideration. Winters are bad enough/no joke, around here.

    The wife and I always thought it would be back to MT for us, but it's going more blue with each election cycle. Won't be a free state for long.

    Bullock? Tester? Bad news!

    Probably back to ID or try WY.

    Time for us to face the fact that, short of armed conflict with police and the feds, the battle for our country is lost at the federal level anyway.

    I spent 49 years in Iowa. Its a pretty safe state outside of the major cities. Stay away from Des Moines, Davenport, the Omaha area. High taxes. Its boring there. Not much to do, flat farmland except for some areas in the northeast part of the state and the south central area. Nebraska is a no way. Taxes way too high. Even flatter. North Dakota is barren and way too cold. South Dakota has some neat areas to see but still too cold. Wisconsin is a beautiful state, but harsh winters. I looked at every state in the union and decided to move to NE Tennessee.

    Been out west, vast waste land. Although I am sure there is some nice places but most is still a vast waste land.
    Been to Couer d'Alean? and Naples Idaho, fairly nice.

    I can relare to the "short of armed conflict" comment.

    I believe we are beyond the "Tipping Point," as has recently been discussed here.

    I moved down here a few years back, for a reason.

    I am comfortable with what I have put away, my neighbors, and my terrain. YVMD.

    One of my clients made a round trip yesterday to downtown Charlotte. Trade street looked like an abandoned mining town except for a very few, I can't say, folks hanging out and one kid riding his bicycle on the back wheel headed into oncoming traffic. I guess he was daring someone to hit him, then the race would have been on.

    Be careful. The ideal state right now, might be a disaster down the road. When I moved to Colorado decades ago it was great. Then all the commies started moving in from california and elsewhere bringing their politics with them. Now Colorado is totally democrat, topped by a rainbow governor who thinks he is going to be president some day.

    Real bad idea.  After 17 years there it became readily apparent that Alaska's residents would die off FAST in a crisis.  No gas refineries, no manufacturing, no home grown food, no ability to self sustain, no toilet paper, no bug dope, medicine, lumber or clothes.  Lots of land, yes, but nature is HARSH in Alaska,  With out the everyday supply ships going to Alaska from Seattle the state would literally starve.  You could live off the land right up to the point the scurvy took you down or a minor injury prevented you from hunting meat or gathering the few items that are edible in the tundra or mountains.
    I love Alaska more than I can put into words, it is indescribable in beauty and completely unforgiving in fact.  It is unsustainable as an escape from world turmoil.
