social unrest

I haven't felt or seen an increased threat associated with the unrest some others have mentioned.   In my community people are getting along fine.   I have noticed some people being more aggravated with government.    If I lived in a bigger city where large crowds were more likely maybe I would consider more fire power.

I agree with SCOUT5. I do not feel threatened at all when out. (Very limited.) If anything, with the 6' Social Distancing, people are more civil than ever.

The only places where I've heard of unrest is reported by the liberal news media. I've yet to see one single zombie in my part of the world a place where businesses never shut down during all this BS and the grocery store shelves still remain full. I'd hate to live where the people that's in the news are living like the Walking Dead TV show.

Same here. Not "carrying" any differently than I usually do.

Yesterday someone used a 308 to shoot the windows out of a tire shop owned by an immigrant right on the edge of the "barrio"

Bad deal, any idea what it was about?   The shop being owned by an immigrant may or may not have anything to do with it.  IIRC you live in Indiana, what area?

I too do not feel an increased threat level when I'm out and about.  The difference is, in the past, I had my carry piece with me maybe 85 to 90% of the time.  Now, unless I'm in bed, my carry piece is with me.  The pump 20 that I keep in the trunk of my car is loaded with 7 rounds of buckshot rather than be in my trunk empty with the buckshot in the hard case I keep the shotgun in. Again, I do not feel any increased threat level.  I also recognize that this could change in a heartbeat.

Why for? Toilet papers are back on the shelves. At one point I was afraid some robber would break in and steal my stash of toilet paper.

Besides folks seem to go out of their way to avoid folks. If any clown gets in my face I'll take my mask off and start yelling with spittle "you don't know where I have been" like Tyler Durden from "Fight Club".

It has been pretty quiet in my neck of the woods here in Central MO.....our county has only had 8 identified cases and no deaths.  The largest community near us is Columbia/Boone County,  their numbers are quite low also.   I have no intention of traveling very far from home for now.

I am happy to be out of Illinois.  My son and other family still live there and they are dealing with a dictator in the Gov's office.
Luckily most of my family members are either essential employees or are able to work from home....I will not be visiting Illinois in the near future....

I agree with Ken and Scout5. I feel no threat here in Montana and haven't felt the need to modify my carry behavior. The only unrest that I've noted is on all news sources since it is real and people are openly standing outside Federal and State buildings in a few states with weapons while they protest. All it takes is one dum bass to make a fatal error and their entire protest goes down in history as an unnecessary massacre. People are getting stupid over this. I'm waiting to hear of yahoos filing suit against the Corona Virus, as if it is an entity. We gritted our teeth, yet laughed at the folks shown in the now open bars all but French kissing one another in celebration of their normality back in place. Can you say "goodbye" to all those they have since come in contact with, those that have conflicting conditions that didn't go out to the bars? Moms, dads, grandparents and now infants are having issues. Did I mention people are getting stupid over this? According to the calendar, the spikes should be obvious in several states in about 9-11 days from today. Just my .02 cents though.

I have stated my opinion about the stupidity of half the population. When you add being selfish to that stupidity it may prove lethal. I believe we can open the economy but we must do it in a cautious and educated manner. To go out and act like there is no chance of getting or transmitting the disease borders on being insane. These idiots will end up setting us back months when they create new not spots. Bob

No problems around here. The only thing I have noticed is excessive bitching and whining on both side of the issue.

Nothing  is any different here on that front anyway. Fortunately the county where I live has only recorded 220 infections, and 5 deaths to date. The vast majority of folks are acting like sane, polite individuals.

Jim if that observation was directed to me then I think you are off base a bit. I said we had to reopen the economy but do it smartly. Within 60 miles of me there are more cases and have been more deaths than most states have had in total. Because of this my situation may be a bit different than yours. If you think a blanket opening of the economy is warranted then you need to tell me how to keep the stupid ones from spreading the virus. 2/3 of Michigan could open tomorrow if you could keep the idiots in the hot zones home. The first bar, restaurant or barber shop that opens near me will have a flock of customers coming from the hot zone and will bring the virus with them. Bob

    Agree 100%
If only everyone had common sense. Unfortunately, that's not the case as we have clearly seen a number of places.

Bob, not directed at you. I don’t disagree with you, just stating we have a choice.

The whole thing with social discrepancy is a socialist liberal media ploy to manipulate and con as they never recognize the rights of others and see their self serving behaviors as permissible...and it sucks so many here buy that crap.

Threat level has not changed.  In fact, a lot of folks here are being more courteous towards others.
    Carry conditions have not changed.

Well, I live in the country.  I mean one zip code for the whole freakin' county.  Where girls go to the high school prom in their boyfriend's freshly waxed pickup truck.  Folks here have continued to be courteous and civil.  Figure that is because (a) folks act like adults, (b) act like a jerk, everybody knows who you are, and (c) 90% of those pickups have a rifle, shotgun or both.

If the majority of people in this country had no communications and no access to the liberal news media for the past 2 or 3 months they still would not know that there is a supposed zombie virus going around.

no worries here...just the opposite in fact.  was never a severe hoarding issue,   as in other places.  news of such takes 3 weeks to reach here.... as others have stated,  people have been much more polite,  courteous, and helpful to others.  there also much more skeptical of the severity of thisdisease spread.

Vast swathes of the country are returning to normal in quiet rebellion against stupid governmental decrees.
People are not standing as close to one another while talking for the most part.
Local restaurants have removed around half of their tables, but are serving both indoors and outdoors.
Old friends are shaking hands, people are returning to marinas and bars.
The number of reported Convid cases may go up a bit, but it will most likely be more in line with increased testing rather than increased transmission and infection rates.
The wife and I invited another couple to go out, spend a few hours out on the boat, and then returned to the marina and had a quick dinner inside.  The only difference other than the fewer tables was the use of disposable menus, disposable dishes/glasses, and disposable utensils.
If you are afraid to rejoin society now, don't.  Most of us recognize that this horsecrap dempanic is being deliberately overblown for any number of reasons, and refuse to play along.
This is not to say we won't respect those that want to remain isolated, but we surely do not respect those who demand we join them in said isolation.

Locking down this entire nation over the hot spot of NYC was STUPID.  The more we learn the more we see how stupid it was.  The number of deaths were exaggerated by a HUGE number.  NYC is the hot spot, not America from Sea to Shining Sea.  The infection will prove to be widespread and tens of millions will already prove to have been exposed with either no issues or flu like symptoms.
Screw China and screw the incompetent Government.

I agree with you with the addition of closing a few more hot spots while keeping 90% of the country open with just advisories and guidelines made available. Michigan just released flu vs covid 19 figures. Since 2000 there have been an average of 100 flu deaths a year in the state, around 2 thousand total for 20 years. Since March 18 the state has had about 4000 deaths where covid was the primary cause. That shows it is a lot more serious than the flu but it would have made more sense to shutdown the few hot spot counties and let the rest of us decide what was necessary. Bob

Here in my little corner of nowhere Missouri we have just received notification of our 7th case to date.  Yes, that is seven in the entire county.  Nearby counties also have extremely low counts as opposed to other more densely populated areas.  St. Louis just roughly 180 miles north of me of course has an entirely different aspect.  For the most part life here has continued on as normal.  Local restaurants were closed.  They are now open with social distancing being practiced.  Shelves have continued to be stocked except for the initial run on TP.  Masks are seen on some individuals, others, not so much.  We had our District VFW Auxiliary meeting on Saturday spaced out over a very large area.  We will have the local meeting tonight, again socially distanced.  I do carry more often than in the past.   Not for zombies, but just trying to get into the habit.  When I was still working I was on Federal property so couldn't.  Now that I'm retired, getting back into it.

Hey Bob, I looked at the situation in Michigan.  Michigan does not have a China Virus problem, Detroit does.  Also the number of dead is HIGHLY suspect with almost no testing done before make the China Virus call.
