I am conducting an experiment. I managed to gouge a small hunk out of my right thumb this afternoon with a front sight and now I'm trying to decide which hurts more, Hoppe's 9 or Purell. So far the Purell is defiantly in the lead.

     Not sure where you're going with that one Ken.   I was just sharing a professional wound treatment that works.

  
  

  Regarding the Chapstick treatment, IMHO the use of a lip balm in a tube applied to a skin wound and put away on a shelf for who knows how long, then used on the lips seems a bit unsanitary.  

  I guess if you were to mark the tube for just this purpose or dispose of it after wound dressing it would be a safe practice.
