Mark, you weren't punished because you cut your withholding too close, you were punished because you refused to give the federal government access to your bank account. (They know where you keep your money.) Sending checks to those with direct deposit did not require a program change, but the check file format had to be changed so that Trump's name could be printed on each check, so that we would think he gave us the money. Plus, Treasury can print only a little over 8M checks a day, so, allowing for their regular salary & tax refund checks, that would work out to, uh, a bunch more days, more or less.Neal

We haven't exactly been looking for ours, but I did expect it to come - sometime.
Wife checked the bank accounts using the ATM and discovered there was a bunch more in there than the last time she checked.
She spent some of it on groceries - GROCERIES! - FOOD! What . . . she thinks we have to eat?
Otherwise we have no plans for it - except maybe when we go on vacation. I am in the processing of planning a nice trip to the garage with possibly a stop in the back yard. I do not plan on making reservations. I am just going by the seat of my pants and hope something will be available. I might do a rest stop about half-way down the sidewalk just to see the countryside. No overnight stays anticipated.0 -
I’m sorta in the same boat. I’m retired and receiving social security and military pension. I try to keep my payroll deductions as close as possible and rarely get a refund. Due to capital gains the last couple years I had to send checks. Yeah, I owe just over $1000 & I am waiting until July to pay them. No sign of my money yet. Mine was deposited on the 14th. I found out about it on about the 20th.
I have paid the IRS, last 5 years (min.) a nominal fee. No refund for quite some time.
Still hit my account.

So far, the issued payments are worth $158 billion in total.
"The IRS, Treasury and partner agencies are working non-stop to get these payments out in record time to Americans who need them," said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig in a statement. "Tens of millions of people across the country are receiving these payments, and millions more are on the way.”
The state-by-state distribution of payments aligns with population. California, Texas, and Florida — the three most populous states — have received the most individual payments and the largest total amount in stimulus worth $15.9 billion, $14.4 billion, and $11 billion, respectively.

I managed through to the IRS site: You are eligible for this payment. We do not have enough information to direct deposit your payment at this time. Direct deposit is the fastest way to receive your payment.
The site then asks for bank information and details of last years tax return for direct deposit. I entered the data using my copy of last years return and was told that my information does not match the information on file. The IRS cashed my check last year based on that information, but it's not good enough to send money back? 0 -

Filed 2018 and 2019 early. Had to pay almost $1,000 for 2019. IRS cashed my check weeks ago. Our SS is direct deposited to checking account. Every time I get on Get My Payment it says does not match their records and after three tries lockout and try again in 24 hours. Sure, I don't know my SS Number!-------------BS, My plate is still empty. 0 -
We qualify but ain't seen hide nor hair of either Judys or mine. Don't really care as I figure I don't have any tax dollars invested in it. The government borrowed it all or created it out of nothing. Any payback will be for the next few generations to take care of. There was nothing on the radar that needed buying that I was putting off so I don't really know what we'll do with it if it does show up. Maybe extra for the church or a local charity. Bob 0 -

had exactly the same problem as you. One thing I discovered by
clicking on the little question mark by each entry is that they only
want your street address and zip code no city or state. A
second problem I had was with the line taxes owed. The little
question mark refers to a specific line number on the return for
this info. My accountant did not put my amount owed on this
line. It was blank. He put the amount owed
elsewhere. When I entered zero for the amount owed they
accepted the information.

Following the initial "theme" of this thread, "Still waiting for our stimulus check" I stated that I had not received the stimulus payment yet, still have not. Is it going to make a difference to me on how I live my life, if I get it or not, no. My plan is to "pay it forward".
But for some, it will make a HUGH difference. We have an eclectic membership here on this forum. For some, it will make no difference if they receive it or not. Not having a mortgage payment, car payment, or anything other than regular living expenses. It will make no difference at all, and some are looking to give it away to someone, or some organization, who can really use it.
For others, living paycheck to paycheck it will make a difference. It will make the difference of feeding their family, or maybe not worrying about where they are going to live next month.
Here, they have said that they will not follow through on any evictions at this time. So feeding the family can be the priority for now. What will happen once the evictions start aging, we will see.
$1,200 - 2,400 is almost a slap in the face for some. Depending on where you live in the country, rent/mortgage can be 1,000 - 2,000 or more. Let alone the cost of putting food on the table. For those living in the area where rent in the $500 range, $1,200 would make the difference of making it one more month, and not having to look for a place to live next month. For those living where the rent/mortgage is 2,000 or more, it will not help much at all.
They are saying that there may be 30 MILLION workers filing for unemployment. How many of them were living paycheck to paycheck?
I did not see anyone crying for their welfare check on this forum, some see it differently.

They said I would get my payment on April 30th & when I checked a little after 2 AM PDT it was there. My wife doesn't think anyone should have gotten any money so maybe I shouldn't tell her. 0 -

Many people who are eligible for payment haven’t received them yet, but rest assured many convicts in the prison systems across the country have fraudulently received theirs.
From WV DMAPS: More than 100 West Virginia inmates have sought to obtain COVID-19 stimulus relief funds meant for U.S. workers and families, investigators for the W.Va. Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation believe.
Inmates are not eligible for the Economic Impact Payments established under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. But that hasn’t stopped the apparent attempts to apply for the checks from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
The 125 inmates identified so far by investigators include 59 serving life sentences for first-degree murder. A similar number are incarcerated on lengthy terms for sex crimes, mostly against children or family members.
The investigation began with a group of around 25 inmates. DCR’s Investigations Division is working with the W.Va. State Police on the case.
As inmates receive meals, housing and medical care at state taxpayer expense, they are considered dependents and are ineligible for such payments. The IRS called for the return of all CARES checks sent to inmates in a Monday bulletin to federal and state correctional officials nationwide.
