I think we should continue to sit tight for few couple more weeks yet. I fear everyone will jump right back to the old normal, with no common sense, and turn right the hell around put us all back in lock down.

I still don't see how this virus is any worse than the one in 2017-2018 that killed 61,000 Americans. Everyone just kept on living their lives then. What's different is that now a bunch of "experts" are getting their 15-minutes of fame every day telling us how horrible it is and how we should be living our lives. 6 -
Even two weeks will be way too soon. This is all predicated on the presumption that this corona virus will recede in the summer like the common cold. In fact in Brazil and Australia, where it is now summer, it is doing right well indeed, so it remains to be seen what will happen with this one. We need to get things moving. Farmers need to be planting. Factories need to be making goods before the economy completely

I agree but we need to do this gradually and with attention to the results good or bad. Some states could probably start back up tomorrow with little or no consequences. Others like New York and New Jersey and my home state of Michigan will probably be months before they can relax restrictions. My biggest concern will be irresponsible people that will leave the hot spot areas that now have most of the medical facilities and go to a relatively uninfected area and transmit the disease to an area with little in the way of medical care. After reading about everything news worthy about this virus over the last several months I have concluded that the majority of us in this country (and most around the world) are going to get infected. Not a matter of if but when. The when part is what all of our shutdown\mask wearing\human distancing practices are trying to stretch the time factor out as long as possible.
Logic says the later folks are sick, the more treatment knowledge acquired will have better results for survival. As we all know, our situation has become a line between health safety vs irreversible economic pandemonium. Both sides of this line are true killers. We all must decide which side of the line we are better individually willing to brave into.
For most it really isn't much of a choice. If you aren't productive you lose your home and starve. For the elderly, many have SS and or pensions and investment savings to live on and can sustain on the left side of the line. This works well for this is the group the virus has hit the hardest.
Thinking a bit outside the box for a minute here I do see where our government could very well end up failing. If so, all bets are off for those monthly checks many depend on. And ?????0 -
I am nervous about going back to work Monday, nervous and happy to go do my job. I will keep away from people, slather on sanitizer after every visit and stay 10 feet away from people. I don't have a N95 mask but if I did I would wear it. From my understanding this pandemic will eventually infect all humans, some will be okay with few side effects others it will kill or make very sick. I suppose China Virus or not life has to go on until life ends and there is precious little we can do about the final result of life itself. 0 -
one of my biggest fears are the stupid vulture lawyers, say you open your restraunt back up and 2-3 weeks later one of the waitresses comes down with virus, how many did she infect before she knew she had it?? I can see the vulture lawyers suing the restraunt owners....... and I in no way condone this, but in todays world you know its gonna happen 0 -

I don't think we should have shut down in the first place. I thought it was an ill conceived idea, no thought going in to it, no thought in how to implement it, no thought in how we would get restarted after the shut down. To me this is a whole lot of knee jerk overreaction. 6 -
I agree with you. For our system to work the government has to trust the people. Make the recommendations, advertise them to get the messages out and trust people to do what needs done for them. Sure, there are some idiots out there as there a;ways has been. But our system will not work by herding the masses to manage the few. But then, that is the way it has been drifting for decades and proof of that is found right here on this forum. Just because they open it up does not mean I have to go out and socialize. I see it as a way to thin the heard,, if it does come back with a vengeance it will cost Trump the election though,, we will be stuck with Bumbling Biden

I see this Chinese virus as this. 1part dangerous, 2 parts hype and 3 parts political. Yes the virus can kill you, so can walking across the street with out looking. Yes some people are scared, you can’t turn on the tv with out being bombarded on your going to die if you make a wrong choice or touch someone. So that leads liberals to use this as a political tool, the longer they can make this last they believe the more people they can draw to their way of thinking, that is stay at home and let us take care of you, see Trump failed. The sad part is, they will try and load down another stimulus bill with other crap that would have nothing to do with the pandemic. You can only print money so long until until people will find another currency to trust.

The virus isn't going away, no flu ever does. Trumps only hope is that by putting the responsibility on the governors shoulders he can take credit for any state that is successful and blame the governors for any that turn into a disaster. Now if he would just shut the heck up and let it play out without the drama we would all be better off. Both sides need to stop with the superlatives and insults and just convey real information and act on the facts. Too fast and we are choosing to sacrifice/kill a portion of the population and to slow will mean a longer economic recovery time that equates to suffering for many. They have said from the start all this stuff is just to slow the disease so as not to overwhelm the hospitals. Seems like it will be a long, long, time before we develop herd immunity either by attrition or vaccination. 0 -
Night before last I could not find a lot of Items in Shoprite so I went to Walmart yesterday morning to supplement my hunt. When I arrived each door was roped off with about 100 people standing in each line like cattle. I have COPD and a heart valve replaced. I also have long history of chronic back pain and standing in one place in line is a killer for me so I left. Is this Corporate or King Cuomo's EO? For three terms now King Cuomo has been robbing Upstate and Western NY and sending it Downstate. He is not stupid. He knows where the votes are. He used a "Message of Necessity" long after those poor children were killed in Ct. to jam the Safe Act down our throats. He says he does not want our guns. He is a Liar. If it will save just one child's life then he signs a bill to rip full term babies from their mother's womb. What next, Marshall Law and the knock on the door? I am tired of his damn Fireside Chats.
I think some people in some places should be allowed to go back to work. Many state unemployment funds are broke and as I understand it Fed has run out of money for small business loans. The Stimulus money is a joke. Sure, some people deserve it but it will drive this country into bankruptcy, and they want more! They are raping the US Treasury. How can you deny a man his livelihood to pay his bills and feed his family on the verge of starvation.
Many of these hot spots all over the country have been controlled by Dummycrats for over 50 years. How can you get different results by trying the same old things over and over. Of course the death rate is disproportionate. Throw a rotten tomato or apple in a barrel and see how long the others last. Trapped like rats in a cage.

Get back now, at least 90% . Take more care of the nursing homes and less about the general public who a lot are insane over the hype. Would this have shut down America during WW2? The governor wants us to be shut down until May 24th. I heard on the news this morning that 6 states want to go much longer June or July. I really am not having a problem with this. They are going o allow golf courses to reopen next Friday. I needed the vacation. Once this does clear up the sporting world will be in utter chaos. 0 -
Open it up now and put your faith in your fellow man to act responsibly when, where, and as required.
It is what is going to happen regardless of when we open it up, and we may as well get started now rather than later.
We are at least weeks away from proving a cure and months away from proving a vaccine.
We know that the human immune system beats this thing in the vast majority of cases. Let it do its job while we do ours.

another angle to this, I am sure the first few weeks or more will still be limited as they are doing now around here, only so many customers per square foot of business. If this is the case everywhere, some small businesses mainly restraunts but other say bowling alleys will be limited to how much business they can do, likely half or so. So the big question then is can they stay open at the reduced income/business traffic?? this may be the considering factor in some staying closed if gov't continues to pay the unemployment and such for them........ and if gov't takes em off the teet, they may have to close permanently 0 -
What do I know but here goes.Open up most businesses and work places but people must keep their distance from each other and I don't mean like a coyote but respect others space, something we were taught as children. Most importantly what we need is common sense but you can't order it from Amazon.
Limit seating in eating establishments for starters, instead of a packed house skip a few seats. Mask and gloves are a feel good option but in all reality are false security. Keep yourself clean, that means hands, face and clothes.We are going to make it through this. The biggest issue now is a "who to blame" game. It is here to stay, learn to cope with it and move on.And for God's sake please quit hoarding, there are people that are without and really in need because of all this hype. Best I can tell the GB gang don't fit the hoarding profile.
Take a few seconds and think about where the virus is thriving and their lifestyle in the same areas, not just here but worldwide. Hummm.

I was at the grocery store and butcher this morning for the senior hours. So what is going to help by keeping the business closed, I just don't have an answer for that question.
But I do know from speaking with many small business owners who I have for friends, if the closure goes on for another two months it is going to be a blood bath for small businesses. Congress has royally f*** up the loan funds made for small businesses the fund is out of money and all of the small business owners I have spoken to have not gotten a penny.0
