I'm not participating either. I have what I need for now. I might get some eggs in a week or so. I did go to the Chinese Buffet here in town last night and picked up a to go box. I figured they could use the business and I was right. I had to pay with a Benjamin and the lady told me she barely had change for it as business had been slow all day, and this was Saturday evening. 0 -

While this is spreading quickly, they fail to mention that most people have mild symptoms. The problem lies with those who will overwhelm the medical system thinking there is a shot or Rx for this...there isn't.
I have switched from carrying the Glock 48 to carrying my G17. A bit bulkier but I am ok with that.0 -
As far as the toilet paper issue goes,.....keep in mind that a lot of it is being bought up by dirt bags that are selling it on Flea-bay, and other places for 10 bucks a roll. The same types that were hoarding up the .22 ammo and scalping people for it.
Save for there being no TP, wipes, sanitizing sprays or cleaners,....nothing is really different around here in the stores so far. Plenty of food of all kinds save for things like powdered milk, and canned meat like Spam.

I got Shanghaied yesterday from getting my Irish on. I was taken on a visual tour of couple of Targets, a supermarket, a Mexican supermarket and a mom and pop bodega. Both Targets' shelves where the toilet paper wait for customers were empty. All the bleach were missing as well. Looked over the rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide isle and it was bare as well. Booze was plenty on the shelves. The strange part was all the jugged water was missing. Does the Corona Virus come up through the pipes? It's not like it's Cholera. Spoke with a Target employee for a bit laughing at the situation. I must say this must be like hurricane season on the East Coast. I was told there was a fight over toilet paper in Australia?
The supermarket was pretty much like Target. While there a Mexican woman told us there was toilet paper at the Mexican supermarket. Since I was out and I might as well get some chicharones (pork rinds for all y'all whities who no speaky Mexican). Got there and their supplyy of Mexican toilet paper was also gone. Made me wonder if the whities came and pillaged or the Mexicans are also gullible to mass hysteria? So went to the mom and pop bodega for sandwiches. There while waiting for the eats we moseyed the shelves and saw bleach and toilet paper. Mental note when the world goes "zombie-fied" hit up mom and pop bodegas for supplies.
I hope at the end of this all the news media gets sued for ramping up this terrorist act of trying to be relevant.

Most people that I know, live hand-to-mouth and day-to-day. They depend on utilities to supply water and lights and to take their sewage and trash. They shop every day and eat out several times week. They take a pill for every imagined ailment and more pills for the side effects.They are doomed!0 -
Just the thought of some chicharones makes my mouth water. Give them a shot of lime, and wash them down with an ice cold Mexican beer: Pacifico for me. No shortage of Hispanics in Florida, but they are all Cuban, Colombian or from Puerto Rico. Taco Bell is as close as you can get to Mexican food in Florida, and the local TB is now drive-through only. I hate eating in the car, and the chow will be cold by the time I get home. 0 -

I did the math tonight from the JH Dashboard.
it is creeping up, now at 3.8 % fatality rate for confirmed cases.

So part of the math causing panic is how you arrive at the sum total of your equation...
The annual flu will kill 1% on average.
But that's not 1% of all Americans - it's 1% of all infected.
Big difference.
Not to jump on anyone here - watching the news I have noticed this error and been annoyed by it.

I found that also when I stopped at local grocery store for a few items. I just cannot believe how far this has gone. I am glad I have stocked up over the years on ammo and reloading supplies. After seeing how people are handling this I cannot fathom what would happen if we had a pandemic with a high mortality rate.NeoBlackdog said:Just got back from my weekly grocery run and things just felt weird. It is impossible to get a overall fatality rate here in the U.S. How many total infections have there been? The testing has been on a very small subset of those that contracted the virus. How many people had the virus and recovered thinking it was just a cold or mild case of flu, or had no symptoms at all? We have 3700 diagnosed cases with 68 deaths. Have 10 times that number actually had the virus and not been diagnosed? It looks to me that the overall fatality rate has to be much lower than reported but I guess logic has no place in news reporting. Yes people who never get tested and die often don't get counted - how many times have you had the flu and not seen a doctor but just toughed it out...
Plus old people die - old age is the leading cause of death.
Always read were someone who is 96 dies from heart failure or a stroke or flu - they died from being old.
The elderly are often hastened towards death by illness.
But so are fat folk and diabetic folk and smokers and alcohol abusers and drug addicts and those with respitory disorders or other preexisting long term factors.

Yeah. We don't have good stats on this right now and won't have for quite some time. Those concerned will be raking hot coals and reading tea leaves for years. It would be interesting to hear from an actuary right now. They always try to have a handle on this stuff and probably do. If you're unfamiliar with the term "actuary" just look it up. 0 -

We just went to the Vietnamese restaurant for lunch. Delicious, one of the best restaurants in town.
This place had half the normal number of customers. Normally lots of take out orders, today, very few.
