Rewards for getting vaccinated -- OK or not?
I see several states and localities are now offering unvaccinated people various incentives to get the COVID jab -- things like free passes to sporting and entertainment events, chance to win a lottery, etc. Is this a good way to help halt COVID, or is it a slap to folks who got vaccinated on their own without any reward other than immunity? (I don't care either way; I'm just curious what you think.)

Health is so important they're incentivizing with donuts and beer. Never mind the fact obesity related disease kills far more in this country. Leave that wizard behind the curtain.

well, if you have to bribe someone to do it.......then maybe there is a reason they did NOT sign up on thier own. Just sayin. The only thing they should do is offer it. If someone wants it then fine, if not then fine. Seems they are one step away from FORCING it on us.

Back in the days when TB was running rampant in this country people who refused to go to the sanitarium were put there. Stopped the epidemic, before we had a curative drug. The government has the legal ability to force the vaccine, but lacks the political will. I would be OK with the terminally stupid dying, but unfortunately they take others with them.

I posted this on another thread yesterday, but thought I'd put it here too, with updates:
( In my current "circle", there are now 9 people (that I know of) that have the wuflu. 6 have been vaccinated, 3 have not. 2 are residents at the assisted living center where my mother is in the care of hospice, 2 more are staff at that same place. 1 is my sister and another is her son-in-law. All vaccinated. The three not vaccinated are my sister's daughter and her 10 and 15 yr old grandchildren.
Step away from the boob tube, do a little simple math, and tell me again how effective these vaccines are.)
UPDATE: As of yesterday afternoon, there are now 3 staff members and 5 residents covid positive at the assisted living center, including my mom. All fully vaccinated. My sister and her son-in-law's cases are of great interest to the county health department. They say, "this shouldn't have happened", "your symptoms shouldn't be so severe", etc. She finally just quit answering their calls. She has more pressing matters to deal with.
Vilifying people who resist the vaccine is no different than demanding gun owners give up their firearms "for the common good".

Well, my ancestors long ago came from Prussia. Does that qualify me😀? (But you're right. makes NO SENSE at all. Just because someone disagrees, does not mean they are "terminally stupid." Some people have pre-existing conditions that make us afraid to get a vaccine... for medical reasons! IF you(or anyone) is vaccinated and you believe that the vaccine WORKS then why are you worried that someone will get you sick. I will never understand why someone who believes a vaccine works(any vaccine, MMR comes to mind), ALSO believes that a NON vaccinated person can get them sick!!!! If you are protected, then why pray tell are you worried that I will get you sick?!?! I cannot get you sick, because you are smarter and vaccinated(green font!) :)

The health departments of most states have the ability to force compliance with public health requirements. Last time I can remember (of course I am not all that old 😁) was during the TB epidemic in the late 40's early 50's, when many of the greatest generation came home with TB from Europe. My late father in law was one of those. People who refused treatment were put in state hospitals.
My reference is to those that make medical decisions from a political view, not from a medical view. There may well be good medical reasons for avoiding the vaccine, but they do not apply to most ignoring or refusing it, and those people create more risk to themselves and everyone else. That is not genius.

Same logic applies. If someone decides not to get the vaccine because they have political reasons........they STILL cannot get a vaccinated person sick(if the vaccines work). That is an old tired excuse to push an agenda on someone.
