They still haven't perfected recycling large amounts of lithium batteries without causing more pollution than they supposedly prevent in the first place. I guess they will just let people worry about it 10 years down the road when large numbers of them need replacing. Bob

Electric vehicle technology is in its infancy now.I would not want to discourage its research as it will be more refined and better in the future.
But it has to be driven by technology, development. Cannot be government mandated.
For the government to decree the electric vehicle shall be by this date is ludicrous. Electric vehicles may not even be the future. Some other technology may emerge before this is "perfected."
Somebody thought steam powered cars were going to be the future. Good thing the government didn't sign onto that!

There will be a need for gas and diesel vehicles until battery technology is as convenient as a gas pump.
This may happen, but until then, e-vehicles will be owned only by city dwellers and/or suburbanites who never plan on travelling more than 100 miles per day in the vehicle. It will happen one would think, but even with the full court press on battery technology for the past 30 years, we have made only incremental improvements towards the necessary end result. Decades at best.

Specs show 775 ft lbs of torque, 563 horsepower.
If the traction control can be turned off you won't be able to keep rear tires on that thing.
Looks good on paper.
Just don't buy the first year model.

UPDATE 5/21: CEO Jim Farley tweeted that reservations for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning are up to 44,500 as of this morning. That's over double the number that Farley originally said Ford received within the first 12 hours post-reveal.

Can you imagine an out of stater sitting around for hours in a gun unfriendly place like Kalifornia waiting for your electic vehicle to charge?
I would feel ripe to be plucked.

Well F-150s arent't anything close to a "truck" anymore, and haven't been for decades. Really the last 150s you could actually work a little bit were the '78-'79 versions. They have been just pimpmobiles for a long time.

One thing that would make electric vehicles more viable would be battery exchange stations. Pull in, pop your battery out, and slide a newly re-charged one in. Until that happens, I will shy away from them.

I am with Merlin on this.when they perfect battery swap outs and make it as easy as filling up with gas then it will be viable for the non inner city dwellers .Folks in Iowa cant afford to be limited to a 300 mile limit
