The term "Ten foot pole" comes to mind.

Seller has a "verified" icon, but has only been a member since 3/11/21. I'm thinking that using either of those payment methods leaves me no recourse if the item doesn't exist. Another flag is the item is listed as ships from Georgia, but there's a phone # with an Idaho area code. Is there a way to report this issue to Gunbroker?

What you do is, sit back & watch. There is no online consumer investigator who looks into suspicious ads. Most of us do the same as you: Analyze the entire situation, & avoid getting involved with a seller if there are "red flags".

BTW, phone area codes are no longer of any value; many folks now use cell phones for business, & you can take your number with you when you move.

Another angle. Maybe he does not know the true value and is selling for what he considers a fair price?

Email and call the seller. Ask him questions and let him know of your concerns. If red flags are still going off, do not bid.

If it looks fraudulent assume it is.

A fraud paid by USPS money order puts the seller in line for a serious felony conviction. US Postal Inspectors LOVE prosecuting such activities-it's so easy.

Go for it with your stimulus money and let us know the outcome? (Ask Biden to help you get a refund if it's not legit)

Start another discussion and title it "Great deal" then put a link in the body.

As in the link warbirds posted, if you suspect fraud report it to auction support.

Were it me, I would call and talk to the guy before a public accusation of fraud.

$ 8,700.00 for this rifle without optics does not strike me as a ridiculously low number, but then I haven't bought a .50 BMG chambered rifle for 5 or 6 years.

Obviously using PayPal is a problem, but as a new seller, he may not know. I would assume the PayPal user agreement is about 50 bazillion pages long and is rarely read.

If you are interested in the Barrett at the BIN price, call the seller. Every seller starts with no feedback.

If you are not interested in it, I would strongly recommend calling the seller prior to making statements such as these, out of politeness if nothing else.
