Prayers for your friend and his family.

If he tests negative, will he at least be able to see his family? This china virus is truly evil. So many left to die alone and families carrying that burden.

I certainly hope, and assume he will be able to have visitors after testing negative. That's probably his biggest worry, is not being able to see his kids (1 girl 10 and 1 boy 12?) as well as his mother who is in town. She just finished a battle with cancer late last year, and his uncle passed from Covid two months ago.

This family has been through a lot recently.

He finally got off the Covid floor today, and they removed almost 5 liters of fluid from his abdomen. His bilirubin has come down to 14 from a high of 27 (off the charts), but is still way high (normal .5 to 1.5). They were hoping for improvement in the fluid build up (ascites) as well, but that doesn't appear to be happening. The doctors are actually confused as to what exactly is going on with him, and he is in a good hospital.

They are planning on some invasive testing Monday, so at least there is a possibility of an answer. The main worries are sudden total liver failure, or infection of the fluid in the abdomen which would result in sepsis. The poor guy has been in one hospital or another since the night of 1/31 ( I was not aware of his plight until it got very serious).

One ray of sunshine is his kids and mother will be visiting as much as possible this weekend. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts very much.

My poor friend just can't seem to catch a break. He was starting to have some improvement in his numbers indicating that hopefully his liver was starting to function more normally again, but he was still building up fluid, albeit at a slower rate.

Just found out that Friday they did the procedure to drain the fluid again, and by yesterday morning he was in terrible pain. They did a scan and discovered they had perforated his bowel. Took him into surgery, and seven hours later he was in ICU where he still is right now.

I'm starting to wonder if he's ever going to make it out of the hospital. He still seems to be handling it as well as one could expect though. Figured I would update things for those that are interested, and have prayed for him.

    Thanks again.

I hope your friend recovers fully from the virus. Our friend didn't do so well, he beat the virus and died from infection from bed sores.

    Prayers for him.

Gregor, I appreciate your prayers, but this is not happening due to Covid (very sorry about your friend btw), he appears to be over that. His liver function went out for some unknown reason, and started this nightmare he is living. Prior to this he was as healthy as a horse, but I guess most people that get hit with serious situations often are the same. I have questioned him multiple times as to whether he was drinking to excess since his divorce in 2015, but he swears no,........and I remember him as a guy of good character.

Actually, only God knows the truth.

I thank all of you once again for the prayers and good wishes, and I have told him a few times that a number of people are praying for him.

Unfortunately I have an update, and it is not a good one as I have been fearing the past couple of weeks.

I lost communication with him after the abdominal surgery, and today found out he has been taken home under Hospice care. They estimate 5 to 7 days before he passes.

My heart bleeds for his children, and the rest of his family. His mother just finished treatment for breast cancer last year, and now she gets to see her son die before her. Not the natural way.

I appreciate the prayers and good wishes,.........sometimes plans are different than what we wish for it seems. May God bless you, and keep you JP.

    Marc,

Sorry to learn of your friends plight.

Hospitals are dismal enough, but no human contact is horrible.

Prayers and best wishes from my world. May God smile his way.
