Trying to decide on a new carry weapon
Well, we haven't had a poll in a while, so here goes.
I'm trying to decide on a new carry weapon. About the only requirements I have are that it be easy to find a good holster for it, that it be 9mm, and that it hold somewhere between 12 and 15 rounds. I have other options in other calibers but I don't have a 9mm carry gun that I like. My wife just got a P365XL. I like it but I think I want something different than what she will carry (not leaving it out as an option though). I think I want a DAO, but am open to DA/SA as well. I've shot all the ones I list below and like them about the same. What do y'all suggest? Add any rationale for your choice.
Should say CZ P-10S below. Ooops.

I voted for the G19 but the 43x is pretty nice, too. Very slim.
My wife just picked one up and with the Shield Arms aftermarket mags it holds 15 rounds of 9.
From what I've been able to glean these are well built and reliable magazines.
$80!!

Not all steel but still a really nice gun

Nope, it's gotta be all metal construction. That way, when I'm out of ammo I can throw it at the perp, or hit them in the face with it. Probably won't kill 'em but could cause a really bad infection. ๐ฎ
Actually I've reviewed the entire CZ lineup, and the off color guns do nothing for my personal taste. I like either black or stainless.

At this point the G19 is leading. Interesting.

Another G19 vote.

Is that one you carry?
It is. I had a P365 Sig ( and I have two other Sigs which I like), but could not shoot well with it. I am not sure what is different, but with the Hellcat I can. I have added an Apex trigger kit.

As I like to stir the pot around here- I posted a thread explaining why the G19 is the best there is. In this survey I voted Sig purely because of common equipment with your wife. But yeah- if that was not a factor, the Glock 19 all day.

I agree. A .40 is so much more. And add some hot underwood or gold dot ammo.

Keltec P-32...................pocket carry year round

well maybe for a Glock๐คฃ๐
don't take that the wrong way , for a Glock it does look to be in fine condition and a good looking outfit but a good looking pistol a Glock will never be

I am really thinking hard about getting a Springfield Hellcat. Was in the gunshop today and I can get one for $477 before tax. they have a half dozen of them. I might go back and get one.

This is my wife's G27 that she decided she could do without. She carried this gun when she worked undercover and then for a lot of years in her purse. It's been carried lots and shot just a little. I'd wager there haven't been a thousand rounds down the barrel. The Trijicon's are dim, but still working.
Bid high and bid often!
LOL!

In addition to my Keltec P-32 recommendation for simple and easy year round carry, how about a Sig P365 or a Walther CCP.......maybe even a G19. They are all good candidates for different situations.

I wouldn't mind replacing my CZ 82 in 9x18 since it is heavy, but have a lot of ammo, some extra mags and spare parts for it, shoot it well, fits my hand, reload for it, etc.
As said above, there are no gun shows to look and hold other candidates, the prices are sky high for everything. The cost of a good new carry gun can easily run up to $1,000 with buying different ammo to try, a good holster, a few extra mags, reloading dies later on, โฆ
Just doesn't seem to be a good time right now to retire the CZ to the nightstand and buy a new carry gun.

So, what you gonna get Mr. P ???

Try the 19 vs 43 in a carry holster For the sake of a few rounds the 43 is slim.

I am leaning toward the G19 but the 365 is not off the table. If my LGS had had a 19 in stock yesterday, I probably would have bought it. Am currently searching GB for both guns.

Solid choice! I usually carry a Gen5 MOS. It has a C&H Precision weapons adapter plate instead of the flimsy stock Glock plate & a Trijicon RMR with 3.25MOA dot. Stock trigger usually carried with a stock glock mag & 1 spare G17 mag with the Taran +6 giving me 23rds in the 2nd mag.
I am faster with my G34 USPSA gun but the margin is less than you might expect.

Whoah, until your photo I hadn't realized the Gen 5 went to ambi slide release.

Yep Gen 5 is ambi and MOS. I have really been wanting to shoot one with a MOS on it. We had some in my unit but they were big and clunky but then that was 14 years ago and a lot has changed.
I don't want to hijack but do you think the Taran +5 40 would work with 357 SIG?

First thing we did on my wife's Gen 5 19 was to put the extended slide release on. Makes a world of difference in how easy it is to hit it with your thumb.
IIRC we have those on all our Glocks now.

Sig Sauer M18.
If it's good enough for the Marines, it's good enough for you.
I love mine. 1-17 round and 2-21 round magazines included.

It doesn't look significantly different than the Gen 3 slide release, which poses no issue for me. The mag release does seem improved over the stock Gen 3 one which does.
