Trying to decide on a new carry weapon
Well, we haven't had a poll in a while, so here goes.
I'm trying to decide on a new carry weapon. About the only requirements I have are that it be easy to find a good holster for it, that it be 9mm, and that it hold somewhere between 12 and 15 rounds. I have other options in other calibers but I don't have a 9mm carry gun that I like. My wife just got a P365XL. I like it but I think I want something different than what she will carry (not leaving it out as an option though). I think I want a DAO, but am open to DA/SA as well. I've shot all the ones I list below and like them about the same. What do y'all suggest? Add any rationale for your choice.
Should say CZ P-10S below. Ooops.

It doesn't look significantly different than the Gen 3 slide release, which poses no issue for me. The mag release does seem improved over the stock Gen 3 one which does.
The one on Warbird's gun appears to be the factory part. The extended version has just a little bump coming off of it that makes manipulating it really easy.

Yep Gen 5 is ambi and MOS. I have really been wanting to shoot one with a MOS on it. We had some in my unit but they were big and clunky but then that was 14 years ago and a lot has changed.
I don't want to hijack but do you think the Taran +5 40 would work with 357 SIG?
I don't know, sorry. And frankly, I won't have anything to do with Taran tactical.

I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this poll, it has gone a long ways to helping me in my goal of figuring out what I want. Keep the input coming!

I carry either a Colt Commander or Kimber Ultra Carry in .45 ACP. A small striker fired plastic piece would be more comfortable physically, but I prefer a hammer fired piece with a positive manual safety.

My usual are either a Colt commander in 38 Super, or it's brother in 45acp.
Amen, brother!

Like Mark said I would look at the Sig 320. After shooting my Brothers I am thinking of getting one myself once this craziness subsides.

Well, in a surprise turn, I got the Glock 48. Range report to follow. Slide mod, Holosun red dot, new mag release, and Shield Arms mags to follow after that.

I know 2 others who carry the G48 and they like it.

Which Holosun? I just ordered a HS507c. It's my first pistol red dot.

I bought this CZ 75 PCR, Very happy with it. Fits my hand extremely well. Great gun all around, and shoots awesome.
Enjoy your new G 48, hope it is everything you wanted in a carry gun.

I rotate through 3 carry guns.
Glock 19, Glock 26, and a Ruger LC9S Pro. All 3 I can run my 10 inch gongs with at 25yds. The Glocks are carried OWB with an untucked shirt. The Ruger is my pocket carry gun. All 3 are loaded with Federal HST 124gr ammo. I carry 1 spare mag with each gun.
I had a Sig P365. I couldn't hit anything with it and sold it for what I had in it.

I guess there were a few issues with the earlier P365s that they have worked out now.

Springfield Hellcat , both mine and my neighbors have 5.25 lb triggers, are super accurate at 20 meters , digest all weights and bullet styles , but I find they shoot slightly better with 124 gr., very good round notch rear site with proper sized front, high cap mag, easy to shoot with mild recoil, very nice semi-aggressive grip texture.
With the red-dot it is fast to target day or night . I have owned or shot quite a few compact 9's, the Hellcat is the best over all IMHO.

Small and LIGHT, front right pocket carry in a holster that looks like a wallet in the pocket. I carry S&W Bodyguard in .380 with a safety. It is 100% reliable. My KEL-TEC P3-AT fell apart in my pocket, I refused to pay shipping back to them for a $189.00 hunk of junk. It now hangs on a nail over my computer desk as a reminder to not buy junk guns anymore when your life depends on it.

Canik TP9 Elite SC. Recently got one, love it, don't carry it yet

If I wasn't so invested in double stack Glock mags, holsters, lights, threaded barrels, etc., I would be tempted by the Glock 43X / 48. They are pretty slim in the hand and I imagine conceal really well.

I think the Glock 48 is great and its a regular gun I carry.
Mine has Dawson match irons and I have 3 Shield arms mags (no issues).
Its on top w/o a dot, then G19 with RMR then my G34 with SRO (my uspsa gun)
The new Glock 48 has a rail and is all black, which I would prefer I think.

Nice. I have not seen one with a rail. When will that come out? Man, I shoulda waited... oh wait, just another excuse to buy a new gun, right? :)
