Mark, I got a forum question for you!!
So I joined up here back in 2008. I remember just how wild and rowdy this place was back then. I'm just curious. How many members were there back then and how many members do we have now??
-
We currently have 46,032 members in the forum data base. Keep in mind that this includes everyone who has ever registered in the Gun Broker forums from August 1999 to today. There are thousands of members who registered and who have never posted.
As for how many members we had back in 2008? I'm sorry to say that I don't have any means of finding or tracking yearly membership data. Merry Christmas. Mark C.

well obvious only the good ones (exceptions of the ones lost to death ) are still here
but I do miss some of the more "unique" members post and stories that have also come and gone

Keep in mind that considerable numbers of members didn't make the transition form the old forum- where you could simply be a forum member, to this new one- where signing up for the auction site is mandatory.
I don't care who at GBHQ is listening: this policy was a huge mistake. We lost a lot of very good members and what we got in exchange were a bunch of whining, crying auction complainers who ended up getting banned after their first post.
"Well, I'm among the GB auctions top 500 sellers."
He then continued with his numerous auction side issues.
I didn't care at all...banned.

I was just thinking I miss all the new people popping up in AtE forum. I lucked into a really good deal once from someone asking, "What's this worth?" That was why I joined in the first place, I did a search on how to find the value of an old double barrel.

My first post was also to the ATE... been hooked ever since...

Mark, I agree. I'd bet there are many here who don't give a cockroach's carbuncle about the auction side. I'm one. I'm here for the conversation, the bon mots, and the unique perspective some people have in lieu of knowledge, LOL!
And, of course, to be a grammar cop and Linux proponent.

Think I joined in 01 and idt was years before I ever heard of anyone getting hammered. The atmosphere definately has changed.

That makes me curious as to the name of the very first banned forum member? Sadly, that member's identity has been lost to GB history.

It's a kinder, gentler Gunbroker Forum. You know, with thousands of points of light and s#!t.
I miss a good internet pizzin' match every now and then.

I only come here for the calming atmosphere. Don

I joined in March of 2000, looking for a 41 mag and getting help reloading for my 22 hornet. The the addiction started. I remember some old members. Black rose and her husband, I forget his handle, nice guy, both got banned, lol and that kid that had the tussle with Dano. He wanted to be a cop, mechanic, president and everything else under the sun. Ms. Florida Gator and Tarbaby who liked to smoke pot......LOL Quite a few characters and laughs.
Who was the doctor that faked his death, and then ended up dying 2 years later????

Yeah there's been a bunch of 'em come and go over the years. It would be great if some returned, and for some, it's great they stay gone.

If I was to ask the definition of a "cockroach's carbuncle", would I do that in "General Discussion" or "Ask the Experts"?
Of course, that begs the question - Is there really such a thing as a cockroach carbuncle expert? I might be interested in attending that training. Can I find the appropriate school/training on the auction side?
😀

John, Blackroses husband was “Classic “. He loved to shoot trap and skeet.

That should never be confused with a carbaunt. 🤓
I had a name change due to the Witless Protection Program, and the software change. Have not been here as long as some, but I still have my Stylish Smoking Jacket around somewhere. I can recall a few classic meltdowns, and a few memorable self-immolations.
But once you pass 70, the drama just is not worth it. On the other hand, the threat of life in prison does not mean as much either. But I do have recollections of Audis, Louisiana lawyers, doctors and cutie girls. Will lift a glass to them.
But then, I'm a cheap date. Not hard to get me to raise a glass to anyone. Sláinte

Everything you need to know about carbuncles can be summed up by saying they are typically filled with purulent exudate. 😝 😲😫

That's it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He lived down there in Florida too. Never did get to go shoot with him, before he passed. Always liked those two.
